  1. I noticed in the new Sam'sTrains review (just there for the images!) that there seems to be extra detail around the bufferbeam on the double chimney release: On the prototype there appear to be wires running from this to the lamps, perhaps they actually were electric? (image cropped from Rail Advent) Apologies for triple post - W1 on the brain today!
  2. I think the backhead is also new, an A4 for comparison: The W1 backhead has some extra pipework (highlighted below), are these the injectors? The reverser position indicator and mantlepiece also look much finer on the W1.
  3. Looks like the chimney might need pushing down a bit?
  4. I spoke to them by email aaaaaaages ago, and they confirmed it would have the deflectors.
  5. Worksplates can be seen at 0:49 (2510) 2:52 (2512) and 3:30 (2509), they look silver in colour to me, as they do in the colour picture of 2509 at Grantham: Also noticed that the whistles and return crank bearings also appear silver.
  6. Agreed it looks a bit odd with the skinny tyres on the bogie wheels. The W1 wheels do look fantastic. Interestingly the latest P2 sample has thick tyres on all the loco wheels, though at least the pony wheels appear otherwise to be unchanged in shape, rather than copying the W1's with the larger (and more accurate) centre.
  7. Just noticed they also appear to have changed the driving wheels on FS, much thicker (and better imho) metal tyres than the old tooling. Anyone know if they're the same (but painted) on the LNER versions? Hoping they might also appear on the upcoming coronation A4s.
  8. It occurred to me that if painted apple green the front edge of the cab is typically black, so would join nicely with the longer bulge on 2509 as built. However I then thought to have a look at a P2, and I found this image of 2001 with the bulge in line with the v! Photo copyright from Douglas Miller from gettyimages Also apologies for mid-conversation username change, I made this account years ago and forgotten until this discussion that I'd picked a slightly strange one! Adam
  9. Does it intersect? To me it looks like there's one rivet's gap between the firebox cladding band and the front of the v. Am I looking at the wrong thing? It occurred to me to have a look at the 1935 model of Silver Link in the NRM, which also seems to have the gap between the v and a continuous firebox band. I appreciate using a model as a reference is a dangerous game! Photos pinched from Science Museum Group website
  10. Not top down, but this image of Guillemot (pinched from Facebook) looks to me to show the vee ending in the same way as Bittern and Mallard above. It would seem very strange for the whole angle of the vee to have been changed!
  11. The tender brake rigging is already fitted no? The front nem socket on the original version just lifted out, I'd imagine the rebuilt one is the same?
  12. They responded already, apparently the issue has been identified and fixed/will be fixed soon.
  13. It looks like they've repeated the error from 2001 with the smokebox door hinge running parallel with the plane of the smokebox front, rather than vertically. Hopefully this gets corrected while they're still at the CAD stage.
  14. Appears to be an A3 in the photo with the superheater header covers on the smokebox (which do look oddly small) so I would hope that it's a typo.
  15. A quick google reveals that it did get the late crest https://www.pinterest.co.uk/pin/241153755027014556/ though struggling to find a clear pic showing which way the fireman's side one faces.
  16. It's certainly from an earlier run of a different silver A4, but I am sure it is the modern tooling.
  17. Just spotted this on eBay https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Hornby-A4-Silver-Tender-complete-China-Super-Detail-non-motorised/353099726692?hash=item5236623f64:g:nusAAOSwD4Je3Oc~ , hope this is of use.
  18. The frog of the point in the last picture appears to be full of ballast, could this be the cause of the derailment?

  22. I do love those draincocks, is there any chance of a picture from underneath? Edit: Also where are the guard irons from?

Who's transfers did you use? They look very similar to the Hornby originals, which are pretty good in colour (not too shiny and quite yellow without actually being yellow) in my opinion.
  24. Speaking of lamps, was it on this thread somebody (I think it was Mallard60022) said about scale 3D printed loco lamps? I was just wondering if any progress had been made, as I'm only just starting out I haven't got any lamps yet and I'd rather wait for these ones for the time being if they are going to be produced, rather than get some overscale ones then regret it.

You can see them clearly here http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/45602-york-leaman-road-mpd-lner-1938/page-53on post 1309, which is a renumbered and expertly weathered 4475 Flying Fox. So they're not like a usual piano bench you see at pianos but the less common round stools, but they still appear to be attached only at the sides of the cab so as Mick says cutting the back of the seat off and then painting it black should sort it out.
