That point rodding looks the business, definitely worth the extra hours.

Looks great to me Pete, the viaduct makes a surprisingly good break before the fiddle yard. Looking forward to seeing this progress
-
Top man Tony! Thanks for the break down shots, they really have helped me in finalising the design of the roof. Some great modelling, as per usual mate.
-
Not done any etching for a while now. Between your inspirational work and Pixie's general ear bending this might resume shortly

Tony, that's a great improvement on the ratio model I just brought some of those Noch rubber roof tiles for my goods shed, how do you use them? Leave them on the backing sheet or peel and affix to a plasticard subframe? Also how we'll does it take paint and weathering?

To make that top beam, the 3 back scene panels and have it posted half way across the country came to £160. Not cheap, but I don't have room for any wood working at the moment. It was quite reasonable in the grand scheme of things.

Ahhh... the joys of etch design, no matter how many times you check your work there is always one glaring error. The crane is spot on, looking forward to seeing on the layout.

No change out of a £100 for a 8x4 sheet of birch face 9mm ply, sadly. The quality is worth it IMHO, I would only use it for complex shapes.
-
Granted, it looks huge! But it will be hidden in the end behind the rig. I'm half tempted to cut slots in the back scene to make some storage space.
I got it done here, delivered to my front door http://cncrouting.co.uk/

Thanks Pete,
The back scene and top beam will be permanent, what I loose in weight and size I gain in protection. I hope to make the lighting rig removeable, but it depends if I can make a strong enough mount to keep the rig level. If not I'll have to just make it one piece.
In short, I'm makin it up as I go along!

Bang on Pete! Some terrific work here and the weathering really adds to the appearance of the layout. As Mike says, there are more shades of BR blue than there are shade of grass. Even if they did all use the same batch of paint, sun bleaching really did effect locos in later life.
-
How about a curved custom barrier? To follow the outline of the layout. As Pete mentioned, it's great to stand in the centre and swing your head left to right to get a great panoramic view. I know it's a pain carrying extra stuff to a show, but it'll be useful for those shows that don't provide barriers.

Cracking weathering job Pete, nice and even with an excellent balance of colours. The nose grills being particularly effective.

Well done on making the final leap to full 2FS track standards, even though I class your N fine track as a greater achievement! You'll find it much easier and running through point work seamless. I have to say Ropley really is an impressive piece of modelling, keep up the good work Tom!

'EM - 2mm, 'EM' - 2mm.... Why is life always full of hard decisions??
Why not both? Always nice to have a bit of variety

Cheers for the positive comments, after a very long time and 3 attempts it's very satisfying to run stock through it!
