  1. If manufacturers have had poor sales from electrics then I hardly think it makes much sense to request re-tools of existing models....IMHO do as a fair few people on here have been doing and do some modelling (witness the various 90 threads in 2mm and 4mm). Bachmann have shown willingness to continue to invest in electrics - the 85 and Desiro being the cases in point. Ultimately we as modellers and the manufacturers are going to have to find a way over this "hump" of electrics not being popular as the network becomes ever more electrified. Cheers, Mike (who would still really like to see the Dapol 92 come to fruition!)
  2. I should have the S&T single MPV on the DEMU stand as well (hopefully with a print of a P&T GPC72 crane). Cheers, Mike
  3. Hi Mark Nice work on pocket wagons. As Martyn says KGA and KTA are the same wagon just re-coded. You can save yourself some work and put them on Y25 bogies available from ATM or the NGS. Cheers, Mike

  8. Cav Why not use 2mm FS concrete Easitrac for plain track? No need to change wheels as most modern N wheels will run happily on 9.42mm track. Cheers, Mike
  9. Stick with your original idea of Easitrac + 9mm points is my view. It would be a shame to compromise the track when easy alternatives to Peco exist that look so much better. Sleeper spacing alone makes it worthwhile, before even talking about differences between FB and BH rail. Cheers, Mike
  10. Anthony I don't know if you've seen it but Howard's blog on here is about recreating Penmaenmawr in 7mm: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/blog/753-penmaenmawr-station-and-sidings-in-7mm-c1995/ Fantastic looking project you have on the go. Cheers, Mike
  11. I recognise the man gurning through his camera (a certain DEMU Showcase exhibition manager - lyneux on here!). Grahame cunningly built in a pint glass holder into Stoney Lane Depot! Cheers, Mike
  12. Jeremiah David uses Shapeways, so for the UK the prints are done in the Netherlands. Shapeways have flat rate P&P fees which are independent of where the models are printed: http://www.shapeways.com/support/shipping So shipping to the UK costs $9.50 + tax and shipping to India would cost $19.99 + tax (regardless of whether the prints were done in the Netherlands or the USA). If you can do it then it would be simpler and cheaper to order stuff to deliver to your uncle. Cheers, Mike
  13. Hi Ted I suspect you mean that the USA uses the UK's track gauge The rail and gauge is not the issue here (and for me neither are rail joiners - they are unnecessary). The USA uses a scale of 1:160 whereas the UK uses 1:148 so the sleepers are the wrong size for starters, though the real killer is not sleeper size but sleeper spacing. That is before we even get into S&C configuration. (some) British N gauge modellers have been crying out for accurate UK specific track for a while now. Cheers, Mike
  14. No doubt to USA prototypes though...not much help for UK trackwork (different scale and prototype).
  15. I've pretty much finished a P&T GPC 72 crane and just need to get some test prints done. The Sheerness Steel PXAs used to be available (no idea if they still are) as a simple etch from BHE. Would need some Schlieren bogies though. Cheers, Mike
  16. Have you tried Shawplan - they are probably your best bet! Cheers, Mike
  17. I'd have at least 20, though I might look at getting one 3D printed. Cheers, Mike
  18. Hi Cav No need to backdate Farish autoballasters, as the NGS also does a kit for the unmodified KPA Tiphook hoppers ;-) Cheers, Mike
  19. Thanks folks - I wonder if Chivers (or anyone) do them in 2mm... Cheers, Mike
  20. Please forgive my ignorance, but what are the vans in front of the CCTs in both trains? Cheers, Mike
  21. Hi Cav If I ever get round to building something WCML based (depends on me having a bigger place to live!) then I would definitely use Easitrac concrete FB. Personally I think the difference between FB and BH points is still pretty obvious in 2mm so having made the plain track better it seems a shame not to go the whole hog and get the points right. Cheers, Mike
  22. Hi Cav Why not use code 40 on the visible areas and then use Peco track (code 55 or set track) for the hidden areas? That would probably be my solution if I need tight radius curves as using set track it is easier to get smooth curves. Cheers, Mike
  23. Hi David Have you joined all the meshes together? I had a similar problem until I realised that I had made lots of sub-sections out of different meshes and not joined them into one mesh. Cheers, Mike
  24. Finetrax is basically a 9mm version of Easitrac (2mm FS) and there should be no problems with flanges on anything relatively new (ie last 10 years+). It is only really crude old wheels that will have problems. Cheers, Mike
