  1. Really wish that 55022 was being done in the post-privitasion green livery. I would have thought it would be popular with later era modellers what with it's hire to Virgin and Anglia in the late 90's.
  2. Paul - I took this as NEW items for this year. So 158 in RR is now available both sound fitted and not, same for the 159. I think!
  3. Seems odd to me that they are going for a bunch of Class 66 re-liveries of a Lima tooling.
  4. Any news on when this will start running?
  5. Thanks Mark! I will have a look at the book for sure - and also look into Walthers kits.
  6. I have looked on Google Earth and at the site itself, but I'm just interested to see what the track plans show.
  7. yes the are!!! It's what is attracting me to trying a build. If you can send the track plans that would be good, I won't be re-creating the whole area exactly, just might go for the same feel so anything would help!
  8. Thanks for the info! If that's the only one - I guess it's not being made in this run? Didn't see it on the Rails website
  9. Would any of the announced models be suitable for hauling Virgin Cross Country trains around the end of the 90s. I know at least one Deltic pulled them on occasion. But it's not really my area of expertise. Rich
  10. I have changed the title of the video Mike. Thanks for letting me know. Do you have any drawings or measurements of the towers? I'm thinking of trying to scratch build it.
  11. I picked up a weathered Class 37 from them at Warley for what I thought was a great price. Top service too!
  12. I was down at St. Andrews Road the other night looking at the Bulk Haulage Terminal and suddenly a Class 66 came along and loaded up! So I guess it's getting some use which was a little surprising. Took a video - that people will either find very interesting or very dull!
  13. If it was the motor, surely it would sound the same on DC? I haven't re-tested today, but I remember running on DC when I got it and had no issues.
  14. Thanks for the suggestions. I will go back and see if it's still an issue with DC operation. I'm fairly sure it made the same noise without the bodyshell and I wondered if it was BECAUSE there was no bodyshell. I'm very new to DCC and so if it is the frequencies that need changing I'll probably be back with hundreds more questions!
  15. My Dapol Class 122 was a perfect runner on DC. Then I put in a 21 pin decoder and now it has this loud noise when it runs. Does anyone know what might be causing it and if there are any remedies. Has anyone else had something similar on their 122? For clarity.... Model - Dapol Class 122 Controller - Bachmann EZ Command Chip - Zimo MX638D Any help would be wonderful! Thanks. Rich

  17. Hi Richard, Really looking forward to the next update! Rich
  18. Things have been progressing and I now have a backscene in place which I'm pleased with! Still working on getting everything ready for the station detailing, I need a few bits from Warley in a couple of weeks and then I'll get some pictures up. In the meantime, here is how I did the backscene.
  19. I didn't start this thread because I wanted to pile in on Olivia's, I really didn't know that there was a section of the users on here who had already made similar comments. I just found that of all the 6 or 7 shops I visited over my two days of travel, they were the only one where I actively felt uncomfortable and unwelcome. I was EXCITED about going to Olivia's, I love model shops, but the experience this time was just bad.
  20. I did look through the first 8-10 pages of this thread and couldn't see one on Olivia's. Yeah - I wasn't short of great shops on my trip, I was really impressed with Rails (especially their new emporium) and Hereford model shop was a treasure trove. The service in Digitrains was top notch.
  21. I popped up to Sheffield last week. I was on a little model shop pilgrimage, visiting Gee Dee, Olivia's, Rails, Digitrains, Tennants and Hereford Model Centre. I had the idea that it would be good to buy SOMETHING from all of them. To support them mainly, but also I was after a lot of bits and pieces. It didn't have to be big, but just something. And I did, from controllers, rolling stock, locos to pots of paint and plastikard. The only shop I didn't get anything from was Olivia's. When I went into the shop I was firstly amazed by the amount of stock they had in cabinets. And it was so organised, I really liked it. Nothing had prices on which was a little frustrating - having to ask each time I was interested in something became a little bothersome to me, and I'm sure the young lady behind the counter. That was certainly a reason I didn't buy anything. The second was when I did get prices, they were very high. I know lots (all?) of the models are custom re-sprays and/or DCC Sound fitted, but I just found the prices were very high. But mostly I din't buy because I didn't really feel welcome there. There was so many staff members, I must have seen 5 or 6 different people and no one said hello when I came in, and it wasn't until I'd been in there quite a while did anyone say hello and explain a little about the shop. Maybe it was an off day for the staff, but it just didn't feel great being in there and compared to all the other shops I went to over the few days (where the staff all welcomed me, engaged with me, and ultimately ended up selling to me) it fell along way short. Was I just unlucky or is this the norm?
  22. I have just posted the latest video from my Class 33 series for those that are interested!
  23. Thanks for the kind words! My next detailing job will be on the station area, adding platform numbers, seating, people, help points and more so that area will have detail added, as well as something else that's a little more unusual.
  24. I popped in the other day on my way (in a roundabout way) to Doncaster and I was surprised by the shop. I thought it would be a little bigger, but actually it had everything that I was looking for. I asked the lad behind the till if he could help me choosing a new DCC system and he went and got a colleague who let me have a go on their test track and it made such a difference knowing that I was buying something that I had tried out. I also picked up a few other bits - and I was hugely impressed with the service there.
  25. I have now put the back scene in place and I'm really please with how it looks, makes the layout seem much more lifelike when you can't see the radiator behind all the time! I've also got the trains up and running, which is awesome! I have put a chip into my Bachmann Class 08 and she looks wonderful moving along!
