  1. I'd check each bogie (both sides) with a straight edge across the 3 wheel treads to ensure the centre wheel/tread is not slightly lower than the outer 2, which normally causes the bogie to rock/chatter on the centre wheel set, which can result in extra noise and de-railing. If you find the centre axle/wheels are slightly lower, remove the axle and gently file out the bottom of the brass bearing recess by a SMALL amount allowing the axle to sit slightly lower. It's also worth checking the bogies can move/tilt fore and aft, if not slacken off the bogie tower retaining screws slightly. HTH
  2. 47 707 has a flush headcode at No1 end, 47715 has recessed headcodes at both ends. HTH
  3. Apparently the original sound recording as used by SWD was from 37190, a 37/0 with generator. The latest multi-start decoder has a cold/failed start up sequence from a refurbished alternator fitted 37/4-5 etc which have starter motors (2) . Therefore this sound decoder features 2 different locos, the start up sequence from a refurbished 37, and most/all of the rest from 37190. Hence the sound glitch between the cold and warm running sounds.
  4. Hi Sultan Afraid I don't know the answers re the drivers key or the real failed start procedures. But I'm sure someone on here will though ? Your video sounds very good, but will always sound better in the "flesh" I'm a big fan of the 28mm round speaker, I think it gives better sound quality than a 20x40 oblong version. I have a SWD V3.5 HJ 47 fitted with 2 x 28mm speakers and it really "throbs" giving a good depth to the sound. The Vi 37 in these clips has 2 x 28mm speakers using Zimo sound - awesome ! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=np39dh3K1Tg Regards Ken
  5. I had a spare decoder reblown with these sound files recently. Overall it sounds very good, but the sound transition from the "cold" start to warm running , sounds like 2 different locos, as if the cold start up bit etc was added to an earlier sound recording ? Shame as the cold/failed start up part is impressive.
  6. At least one DBSO - 9706 carried "Inter-City Scotrail" brandings in Blue/Grey livery see photo here: http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/429-scottish-region-photos-1980s/page-16 - scroll down page to near the bottom. Of note the lower case "r" in Scotrail
  7. Yes a big advance compared to the early sound chips, so much more life like with sound changes with no increase/decrease in speed etc. Hopefully these 47's will be arriving soon ? Along with legomanbiffo's latest Loksound 4's sounds, we sound addicts are spoilt for choice.
  8. Just look at this for a "starting" bid ! - perhaps he's hoping "Santa" might buy it for a "little one " http://www.ebay.co.u...=item4abf280d5d
  9. Hattons must have finally come to the end of that "huge" ball of string/twine. One always knew who the parcel was from, the quality brown paper wrapping tied in "string" - the giveaway. Regardless, their first class service continues on !
  10. Hmm - I ask the questions - you get the answers - that's another "pint" I'm due - how many's that now - I've lost count ;-)) lol BTW there's also a photo off this BG with the "Duke" on page 111 of BR at Work (ScotRail) dated Sept 85, although the no is not readable.
  11. Hi Keefer/Flood The 1984 "Jacobite" service - 13.03 x Edin-Inverness was P/P operated using a Blue/Grey Mk2 set, in competition to bus services. HTH Ken
  12. Never mind the BG for a mo ! - just look at that really "dirty" shove/duff - perfect inspiration for a model weathering project ! Cheers
  13. Cheers - nice photo of the "Duke" + BG etc - that's two photos - anyone else got any ??? Regards Ken
  14. Hi Peter Thanks for the photo. Photos of these BG's are pretty rare, at least one had the ScotRail branding unusually placed at the far end of the light grey skirt - next to the loco - it may well have been like this on one side only, finding "which" number is the quest ! 92061/92086/92088/92091/92128 according to a Platform 5 booklet all carried this livery. Since the the loss of fotopic :cry:it's not so easy now to find specific photos. Cheers Ken
  15. Regarding Scotrail/ScotRail coach brandings. Found this rarity when sorting out loco photos to add. Unusual to have both Inter-City and ScotRail brandings together. Of note ScotRail has the later upper case R in this example. BTW Anyone have photos of the BG's in ScotRail Exec livery as used on the Glasgow-Dundee-Aberdeen PP services ?
  16. Hi Peter Thanks for the helpful 33 images, will try out the mods on a 27 for starters. Cheers Ken
  17. Many thanks Peter for the photos/info etc. Although I have a couple of 25's I plan to do, I'm more interested in your 33 as it's very similar to my 26/27s. When comparing the bogie sideframes, the 26/27 ones will require the front edges (behind the bufferbeam) cut back (they are longer at that point than the 33 ones) to clear any centre coupling mounting etc on curves. What min radius curves do you manage to use ? Regards Ken
  18. Hereford Models Always had outstanding service. ie Ordered a loco at 2pm was delivered next day at 11.30 am for £3 postage via RM 1st Class. RM can do it well also - sometimes ! Highly recommended
  19. Oops - your correct ;-( should have read the rules so how about Back in Black AC/DC
  20. Catfish - The late great Rory Gallacher RIP
  21. Another 80's odd ball livery was carried by IS 37 146 - half way between std BR Blue and L/L Blue. Blue body/roof , but with the yellow nose ends extended around to the cabs sides - as per L/L. However nose bonnet tops/window surrounds remained blue - not black as per usual L/L. It did however carry large logo no's in the normal place, black headcode boxes, small std sized arrows and Highland Rail Stags. Perhaps it was urgently required for traffic before the re-paint job was fully completed ?
  22. I've used brake fluid "baths" in the past for stripping paint. Some older DOT types of fluid can react BADLY with some plastics - a Replica Railways coach comes to mind - it turned into almost molten plastic leaving perfect finger print impressions on the sides Modern fluids tend to be synthetic based so test a small area first. A safer option would be to use Precision Paints "Super Strip" HTH tractor_37260
  23. "Stunning" is perhaps the best word to describe this photo ! Initially I could not decide if it was "real" or a model - think that says it all - job done More photos please Regards Ken
