  1. Yea, I don't fancy opening it up to look either. However I'm also hoping this is a very isolated issue.
  2. Did anyone get anywhere with the shorting issue. Mine (DCC sound) has been shorting out as soon as I get it on the track. Ran fine at first then started shorting. I've taken it all apart and the issue seems to be PC1. The rest on its own is fine but with PC1 attached any bogie on the rail shorts. PC1 on its own with just its own bogie shorts right away now.
  3. Happy to say mine arrived safe and well. Wasn't too bad to assemble either but I agree you really do need to read the booklet! Stunning model and has really been worth the wait. My only comment is that this this does not like track pins so make sure their all down properly before you run.
  4. Now that's just getting people's hopes up!
  5. I just spent a few minutes looking over the model. i might post photos but will simply leave it as this. If you have preordered you won't be disappointed!
  6. At least we are getting updates - better than being kept in the dark. Also glad to hear I'll be able to see one at Model Rail next weekend
  7. Still need to start mine. Just to check as I'm new to the whole kit world for those that are using solder are all the brass parts treated? also any tips on grade of solder/flux for this kind of work? Gordon
  8. While we can't have part funded pledges it does offer a custom amount option that might work for this. Just a thought to help raise the funds.
  9. First of I hope this goes well, I'm not an N gauge person so It's not really an appeal to me. but if I had the money I would still consider it to help out on a great idea. As a thought for a few comments about not being able to pledge the full amount now, Could a "pre oder" option be included? Similar to Rapido and the APT-E and using it as an example £50 now and settled by a certain date to ensure it can be done. Worst case you get some people pull out of the preorder. I would expect these could be offered as very limited numbers for the after market. Just a thought as it might help get a few more people in. Regardless best of luck, I'm watching this one with major interest.
  10. Ok this could get complicated. I'm sitting on a 156 at Queen Street at the moment so thought I would help out. In one end the windows are blocked where the toilet is located. The other side of that end is a clear window. The middle sides are all clear The other end has a shutter over one. And the other is cover by the cycle rack. Gordon
  11. If memory serves its the first small window on both sides and both ends that at blanked out, one for the toilet and the other for the luggage/bike racks. I'll be heading up to Falkirk tomorrow so I can grab a few photos while in central if that would help?
  12. But gutted this is in N gauge as living in Glasgow I see these all the time, and the Hornby ones in oo are nowhere to be seen. The roof was my main point as it wasn't all blue. It's also missing the side lights and some unused window panels (beyond the livery though) Also (and I know screens don't show exact colours) but the doors look to be a bright white in the sample, maybe there just never cleaned up here but they always seemed more of a dull white. I also assume the change in blues around the saltire ends are just the photoshop use. The main blues might also be a bit bright. Last point (as I'm probably going on now) but the dots in the blue sections and the main logo look really poor. Again I assume this is just at samples stage and is to be tweaked so just tell me to be quiet if I'm thinking to far ahead
  13. You will get some effect without doubt as the Doppler effect is just dependant on the sound source moving but it has to be a pulsing noise to get the best effect and that's why we notice it on sirens more than anything. Granted in model terms it would probably need to be up full speed and volume with your eyes at track level and even then it would be limited but it should some effect.
  14. For those that fitted the detail. Does it impact the front wheel on curves? And if not what's the tightest curves you run it on?
  15. Got my main range one yesterday and gave it a good run in yesterday. It has a few short comings like the Duke, but still VERY impressive! If anyone is still looking give Locomotionmodels a shout. Excellent service and a brilliant experience. You mignt be paying a bit more than the likes of Hattons, but worth it in my view.
  16. Is it worth pointing out the Hornby site lists the main range P2 as having a 3 pole motor? Ultimately it comes down to the technical details. The 5 pole will have better control and slower speeds and will provide a better running overall. If people will notice it in general use is another issue entirely and it also falls down to the build quality. If it's a crap build then adding a better motor isn't going to help one bit. Also it's a cost, and since this model is a- a railroad version and b- being picked up by people who are wary of spending money then these little cuts will need to happen and this is the little things we can expect.
  17. Thanks for the photos guys. Very tempted. Already in the list at Locomotion for the main range version though, does anyone have an expected date on them?
  18. Anyone care to post some pics/videos? I'm waiting for the main range to come in but would like to see how this is running.
