  1. Assuming you get the required amount of expressions, when is payment likely to be required by?
  2. Could you explain what the difference between passive and active tilt is? Thanks
  3. Reassuring to see a strain-relief in the form of clear heatshrink fitted to the wiring on the bogie!
  4. Same here, just order ref and date / time ordered, although someone I know who ordered via the phone got a number... I am hoping that ours are part of the same batch as we're going up to Shildon to collect them and doing a car-share rather than them going through the post. It's an expensive model to have //insert courrier// launch it over the fence into a puddle!
  5. No idea why I said P-Train, I meant E-Train, but you've clarified it anyway
  6. I was seeking clarity as he just said "they never had any". Some of todays preserved mainline locos have a traditional number on the bodyside, but on paper, they are something totally different, so in the case of P train I was wondering if a number might be behind the written number on paper, but never applied to the vehicle (hence me quering the "never had any" part) , if you get my drift.
  7. Funnily enough I was thinking about this the other week. Was E Train allocated a Class and/or individual car numbers even if not signwrtitten to the vehicle(s)?
  8. Nice, like progress Whats the weight like in the powercars for traction?
  9. After buying Dapols Western, I had high hopes for such a fine model- but from the comments I am reading on here, it looks to have gone backwards a few paces. If we all forget about the colours applied, what is the actual base model like, in terms of accuracy, motor/haulage capability, quality of the actual product etc? Those are some of the things that I am not really seeing anybody talk about on here besides roof-dimples and running irregularities
  10. The shop in question has reopened (not sure if it's a pernament reopening), although they no longer specialise Railway. Just the other 'stuff' they sold it seems. One of my collegues was in Long Eaton today and dropped me a text so I asked them to investigate about whether it has reopened as a model rail shop as the signage for the shop was took down a few months. Seems the family are running it but "The railway stuff has been sold back to the manufacturer". Opening hours says open till 2pm on the door.
  11. How does a 312 manage to come into the equation on an alleged DMU thread?
  12. Anytime - if you want anything else drop me a PM.
  13. Typically for Santa's the Class 25 shares turns with the Class 73, but the 25 left earlier in the year unexpectedly which left a gap with the 73, which hardly anyone signs, so getting the 20 (which most people sign) was the lifeline. There are indeed other locos ready for traffic but these being Air-Only, being of no use to the Vacuum Only Steam Loco. Other vac-braked locos are under varying states of restoration so not available, whilst other vac locos may be winterised.
  14. One of the prototype HST bt10 bogies is on display in derby outside the Silk Mill Museum FYI. Edit: Photo here: https://flic.kr/p/crEi1N
  15. Prototype MK3's are different to production MK3's. Different gangways, different doors plus some other differences that I can't remember. I think they also had buffers and drop head's but don't quote me on that.
  16. As long as the model has buckeye style couplings and not those horrid hook & loop things that everybody makes models with then i'll be happy
  17. Must admit the stand was well visited, it took me about 10 attempts to get close, eventually spoke with Jason & Bill briefly but from what I could see, it will be worth the wait. Mr Tilt was in high demand, I had to give up and depart back home on a pendolino... sorry Couple of shots of the sample on display for the odd time I could clearly see it... looks stunning if I must say so. how much of a gap, less than 2mm?
  18. Very interesting to read about the bogies, i'll be honest when I was up at Shildon in September, I was a bit miffed as to why there seems to be an additional bogie, thought the train may have been a 5 coach set at one stage but now you've pointed out the differences it all makes sense. The painted bogies look great, great achievement. Will be down tomorrow, if I get chance i'll come over and pick your brains some more
  19. I fully agree that it's Yodels problem, but, I do see Hattons being slightly responsible because of the lack of packaging protecting the entire contents, rather than just an edge. If it's a cost saving measure, perhaps they should offer a premium packing service for extra internal packing, i'd pay for this to ensure nothing was broken or squashed.
  20. Their not the only retailer up to this - I was visiting a shop in Derbyshire and when Rapido's APT was announced this came up in conversation, he hadn't heard of this, but when he saw the price of the sound version being good value, he said he'd buy a load in and be certain of making a profit, even if it meant ordering in various names and addresses to meet the requirement of the max of 2 per customer.... IMO this is wrong, but in the same context business is business and I ask my self would I do the same - well yes I would, but I don't own a shop so I don't need to do this (nor do I have the funds to buy more than one in at a time anyway haha), Back to topic, KGV 250/250 is taking the mick a little bit.
  21. That feeling when you are all set for the weekend then get told you are working tomorrow.... Bahhhh!

  22. Got mine this afternoon, very nice but very fragile! Interesting method of connecting tender, wasn't expecting to get an assembled loco.

Hmm i'm not entirely following you... is this the part which fills the gap for the loco crew between the loco and tender? I don't do steam normally, this is the first steam loco i've ever had when it arrives next week with a bit of luck

Please excuse my ignorance but what is an adjustable "fall plate"? thanks
  25. The amount of dust that was on the box as well, leads me to think that it's also been dragged around a floor somewhere. I think that had the model been a typical run of the mill box (eg cereal box card thickness like Bachmann, Hornby etc), then I don't think the loco packaging would have survived, Dapol do a fantastic box, really thick and bomb-proof. Gives a sense of a quality product too. I've had stuff by MyHermes before, I don't recall any issues personally. If lego is anything like it was 20 years ago then i'm sure it would be fine! Laptops aren't what they used to be, I would be reluctant to have one sent in the post, i'd sooner collect.
