  1. I ordered a model via Locomotion last week so I took the opportunity to ask Sandra the question about the order books opening, she said hsdt is still a long way off with no further information available as yet.
  2. Just going back to earlier comments about paying with credit-card etc, maybe i'm just too soft but I have no issues handing money over to DJM even though i've not had any direct dealings yet. Given the products he's already produced or about to release, i'm sure it will be worth it and he's not a 'first timer' in the industry, so i'm sure he's got a sound business plan in place to be able to fulfull his offer. I'm rather liking the idea of being able to pay bit-by-bit, though i'll be paying by debit rather than credit as I don't have the latter card.
  3. What about monday as i didnt get mine either?
  4. Just 'expressed' my 'order. Looking forward to seeing it develop.
  5. Im not in any market for one, though given the detail of DJM's J94 im tempted to put a punt in for one, as you can gaurantee that if I decide not to order, one day in the future I will make an OHLE layout!
  6. Take a look on here, cant tell if its a 24 or a 25 though, should be publicallu viewable if youre not on facebook. https://m.facebook.com/trawsblaenaurailway/
  7. I've not heard of them being called the weathering works; perhaps a different company offering the same service, but none the less they are just outside Whitby yes. http://www.themodelcentre.com/ It's amazing you can still get bits and bobs for the P-Train
  8. Cheers Ben. I take no credit for the weathering, I hand that over to The Model Centre in Beck Hole. I supplied them with a load of reference photos mostly from off here so they had something to work to and they worked their magic in about 3 weeks. This was the first APT-E they've worked on and I believe it took longer than expected because I gave them strict instruction to leave it assembled whilst weathering so it 'flowed', and because of the delicate couplings I didn't want to risk them being damaged.
  9. On the mk3's the cleaning product helps a lot. It leaves a nice glossy sheen after application. I would like to do some of the other coaches, but i'm afraid i'll just clean the paint off like I did with the GUV which had turned green one side, should be maroon but it's now in part BR-Blue!
  10. Thanks chaps i'll give that a try! On the note of the screw head being shallower, could perhaps try a washer.
  11. I'm not sure if this should be posted here but seems appropiate. Got my KGV Model when first shipped but only just started running it. I've noticed that when the tender is coupled up to the loco, it lifts the first axle of the tender and only a fraction of the wheel flange is in contact with the rails, when running in reverse it always derails. I would imagine unscrewing the screw for the coupling bar every so slightly could resolve it but i'm concerned it would work loose? Any oppinions/advice appreciated as I don't really want to be sending it off anywhere.
  12. Packaging looks nice indeed, least they appear to be stackable?
  13. Glad you enjoyed your time with us Kit! Whilst i'm not familiar with the NCE, i'd imagine it could be just a firmware update that is required in order to access the extra functions? Give Jeremy at Digitrains in Lincoln a call, top bloke i'm sure he'll put you straight. I asked for advice on a sound loco, I thought he'd say nothing can be done and you will need a new decoder which they will sell me one, but no, he gave me tips on what to do to improve the sound given there is absolutely nothing he can do to it. Very few people like that these days. Here are a few pictures as requested, not the greatest but i'm sure other photos will surface shortly as there were cameras from every angle on that layout! - Pictured with some of the Rudd MRC.
  14. Errm what do you mean it doesn't tilt? Kits back again tomorrow with a talk from 11am. Very interesting talk indeed & loads of unseen photographs in the presentation.
  15. I've ordered 7 EWS vehicles. I really would have liked to add a tripple set of Blue but I wont' be able to raise the funds in time for the end of the month, mid-next month no problem! sods law.
  16. Went up to "The Model Centre" to have my APT-E weathered, as per photographs found via various google searches. This was the first one they had worked on. Took them just under 3 weeks from me dropping it off and collecting. Didn't want this going in the post! Thought it would be appropiate to do this mini photo-shoot at Colton Jc, just south of York.
  17. I would assume that a DC or DCC Sound version would make no difference, both are 21pin aren't they? (Unless you're saying the fault is on the decoder??) My APT-E is currently away having some extra work done on it, hoping to pick it up next weekend so will pop the body off and check it out.
  18. I have the DCC sound (factory) version. On mine sometimes the cab lights worked no problem during movement then they sort of died randomly.
  19. Where do you find this PCB, on the decoder or on the model, if so which vehicle? Unfortunately I am all too familiar with that sort of thing as I work with PCBs daily, seeing this is just cringeworthy. I generally allow 1-3degrees movement away from the solder tabs, so that it doesn't violet minimum electrical clearance, but that is just unforgiveable! That is what I would call amateurish. I'd be very interested to see if the PCB's are made in an automated process or if these components are being hand soldered. If you look at the component "C2" on that PCB, the left hand solder joint appears to be a dry joint... check that also. If it has been sufficently wetted it should be a bit more shiney than that (see other components) but without seeing it in person I can't really say for sure. Thanks for sharing that photo, will check mine for sure.
  20. Reference to cab lighting inoperability, mine does weird stuff; they both work for a bit, then eventually one stops working. No idea why and can I get it to work again on that running session? I've not bought this up because it's a cracking model and I can live without it & everything else works!
  21. 3 Metres? blimey. you'll need a lorry to transport your case anywhere haha. 1 month isn't too bad, mine took 2 weeks for a 1.2M version. Must admit being able to just drive it in is an advantage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aL2fJF9jCrs
  22. Wish my DIY skills were better, generally when I try to save money making something like this, I end up spending loads more, so I've bought the trainsafe travel (with electrical connection throughout). Safe to say I took my apt-e for a 150mile trip on Monday; it got there in one piece.
  23. Is this just a respray or something? I haven't been to DEMU before but if thats on sale, i'm there!
  24. I have to say, whoever is behind this company are superb. Both the model and customer service is second to none. Made a speculative enquiry via email yesterday to ask if they offered next day delivery (for a Saturday) and if not I was prepared to drive over to collect. They came back and offered me a £15 delivery option. Super, I said I would call them mid-afternoon as I was at work, so they took the liberty of preparing the model (adding the DCC sound) and packing it before I had paid for it, so when I rang up late in the afternoon to pay they despatched it immediately. Fantastic service and the model is something else!!
