  1. Hattons have even listed it as an HST! http://www.ehattons.com/stocklist/3155952/1000588/1000675/0/_/prodlist.aspx
  2. After reading your attempt, without looking at it closer, I would try to wire it this way, but at your own risk of course as I don't have the board to hand to examine. On one of the centre bogies, solder an additional feed from each pickup, run these direct to the appropiate wires on your decoder (power + & Power -) Assuming the lighting circuit isn't a "Circuit" eg if you follow the tracks from where you made the cut, follow it to the last LED, do the circuit/tracks carry on or end in mid air?? If the latter then solder the two wires to the function part of the decoder. The colours I have forgotten at the moment however i'm sure you know what I mean. That will only work for 1 coach, so you would need 2 decoders if it works! I don't have the guts to do any of the above, I bought an on/off switch for an isolated section of track for my E-Train!
  3. And here was me thinking it was a load of wires running from coach to coach with some leds in the roof... thats my idea for on/off lighting gone out the window
  4. I'm hoping if a deposit is needed like with APT-E, then I'm hoping they don't want £50 for every vehicle up front, 8 coaches upfront is a fair wack of cash if they follow the same ordering method as the apt.
  5. Just bought 600 metres of cable for the layout.... will it be enough?

6' x 4' oval, might just about stretch to it.

If it's DCC, it only needs two wires, but no-one has decreed how long those need to be. You need expert advice... could be arranged at £140/ hour .. in line with latest loco pricing inflation.

i'm building a 7x17feet layout; so probably need 1000 more metres haha

  6. E-train being tested at Ruddington MRC today on the public running day (generally open when GCR Nottingham are running trains). Ran superbly. Drew a fair amount of interest, one person asking if it's scratch built, others asking where to buy it from. Hardly anyone looked at the kettles that were running, always just the interior of E train haha.
  7. Dealt with said company at York Show just gone about the Digitrax Super Chief which i've had my eyes on for "too many years". They said pop round and they'll show me the system on their test circuit so I drove over to Lincoln today (road-work manic town today), dropped in off-spec and asked them to show me the system - Jeremy gave me a demo of the super chief and most of it's main functions, so I came away with everything I need including the power pack. Overall great experience. Good selection of other stuff available as well. Will certainly use them again in the future.
  8. Yes, they just come on when the track is energised. I will be making an isolated piece of track for DCC use so that I can turn it off when not in use as the car with the instrumentation gets quite hot, not that I don't think it'd do harm, i'd prefer to keep it in one piece.
  9. I asked a mate to measure his (the guy who made the video a few pages back) and he came back with this: 3 foot 9 1/2 inches long nose tip to nose tip. So the 4 foot train case will be bang on as allows around 1 & 1/4" gap at either end for padding. So I ordered 120cm with that in mind.
  10. This? http://shop.train-safe.de/en/HO/Gauge/H03L-Maerklin/Train-Safe-Travel/TRAIN-SAFE-Travel-Gauge-H0.html Ordered one yesterday my self, lead time 2 weeks.
  11. I can see why people might be getting it wrong in coupling up, but I've had mine apart a good 6 times and once the coupling 'breaks in' (eg not as tight) then it really is easy to put together. Once the coupling bars have snapped together, you may find the 10pin connector not fully home as I did on one of my cars, just used a small pair of tweezers to bring them home, job done.
  12. Picked mine up today from York, absolutely superb. Astonished at how heavy those power cars are! Thanks for producing this model. Now, to start counting those rivets!! F16 - nice touch!!
  13. What a shame. After not being able to speak at Warley I had assumed you were part of the furniture on this apt marketing ploy
  14. Looks stunning, i'm not a kettle person so can't comment on the specifics but it does look great. Will look at buying one of these when released.
  15. Looking forward to picking mine up soon. Not from a wanting the model "yesterday" perspective, I really need those power cars for gauging my current layout build
  16. +1 Whilst it's a nice "feature" on a model they serve no purpose imo
  17. Knowing LEGO, it'll probably cost the same as the APE-E model!
  18. If you watch the video made at the Scan Party, it was well documented about how "Wide" it'd open up on curves, using a close coupling system and tilt.
  19. I've used them a couple of times my self to buy lenz decoders as they always seem to have good stock levels compared to other places, competitive pricing & always great service, speedy delivery.
  20. I have a different name for 170s but I don't think it would be appropriate on here haha
  21. TMC had some of these on offer pre-weathered at the BRM show over the weekend so I bought one (IC 73102). Detail of the model, fantastic once the exrta parts are fitted. The only flaw I had was the DCC Wiring Fault but I don't see that to be too much of an issue personally, 2min job to fix it. Runs great too. Very happy with it.
  22. Just had a sound demo by legobiffoman at Doncaster show... One feature you didn't mention was the smoke generator as the model blew up haha Nb. Coupling up on live dcc track not recommended!
  23. Get those turbines singing if thats the other alternative
  24. Who said it has to be under its own power? APT-E Drag sounds good to me, get the proto HST to do it... i'll grab my coat...
  25. Thanks for that, totally diffent to what I had invisaged! Roll on March!!
