This might have been Varney models (Jim Varney) who did a range of car kits in the 1970/80's. They do turn up from time to time on 2nd hand stalls. All the best Ray
  2. We have always gone for breakfast on the Saturday at the cafe and it has been good, although it would appear that it has changed hands again.
  3. I shall be there tomorrow stewarding. Our chairman will also be exhibiting one of his layouts. All the best Ray
  4. No not this year, not ready yet, but hopefully next year. All the best and see you Saturday. Ray
  5. I will be there as a steward. All the best Ray
  6. I suppose that the sign was more or less opposite the original South Bermondsey Station.
  7. Are they bringing diabetic cake and gluten free for Steve ?
  8. What are the N Gauge trams ? I am familiar with the Matchbox one, but not the larger London ones.
  9. I wonder why they put a street sign in that particular position ? Any trains for Southwark Park Station ? See you tonight, lots of cake to eat. All the best Ray
  10. Has anyone produced London trams by 3 D printing ? Ideally home printing or using a small agency. I would imagine anything done through Shapeways would be ridiculously expensive. 3D printing should make it reasonably easy to produce lots of detail variations without having to physically alter anything.
  11. Hi Colin. Pleased to hear that you are on the mend. I am keeping an overview of this topic as Tony is a member of our club. Just got over Covid, so should be back to the club next week All the best Ray Not sure if it is my computer or the server running very slow at the moment.
  12. A 2 car 1938 stock set from the IoW in Island Line livery has not been done yet and might prove of interest. All the best Ray
  13. Perhaps if the bright red SE & CR coaches are sold out, Hattons might consider doing some more runs in the original dark red livery and the later Wellington Brown ?
  14. Shade of blue ? The warning yellow and most other colours were wrong as well. I got the original green one, that was probably the most accurate of the first batch. All the best Ray
  15. Looking good. Joyce the Waddon Gas Works loco should make for a very nice model. All the best Ray
  16. Hi Mr Snail. I have one of those old kits put by in the maturing cupboard as well. I think that there were some differences in the wheels/cranks/rods etc when compared with the 08 and 09, but I cannot remember what they are. Looks good to me. All the best Ray
  17. Hi Tony. Unfortunately only the first arch, the remains of the second one have been removed. If you walk through the roadside arch you can also see the two bricked up doorways that also went into the pub. I can remember at an early age the smell of beer as you walked past. I think it closed in the early 1960s. These were the first arches to be let in the new London and Greenwich Railway viaduct in 1834. The wall on the right hand side was the back of the Rotherhithe Road coach sidings. P.S I see that the road sweepers have been busy along here !!!! All the best Ray
  18. You could include the original South Bermondsey Station just to the left where those railings are. All the best Ray
  19. Hi Tony. Don't forget to include the Halfway House just off to the right on the mechanics pathway. All the best Ray
  20. The old dumb buffered wagon has developed a nice sag in the middle. I could give a good home to a few of these. All the best Ray
  21. There will be a lot more members doing the Lottery in the future.
  22. Hi Matt. That is starting to look interesting. I would add the wooden fenders before you add any more surfacing to the water so that you can get it all blended in together. On our St Mellion layout I used Winsor and Newton Galleria acrylic paint mixed with other acrylics to get the water colour. I had several goes at it before I got it to look right. This comes in a tube or tub and is relatively thick. So if you apply it with a wide flatty brush it will stand up a little and you can create a wave effect. I then applied several coats of yacht varnish using the same technique to build up the clear water effect. I hope that this is of interest. All the best Ray P.S. You might remember the centre warehouse building as one that Mick Foster built for one of the early club layouts. It is now on its third layout ! Mind you, I had to repair it quite a bit and re-paint it, but it is still quite fragile.
  23. The coaches in the yellow Hornby Rocket set are called Wellington, Globe and Renown. So no duplication there. Its only the ones in the Tri-ang limited edition pack that are Times, Experience and Dispatch All the best Ray
