  1. Hi Tony. Unfortunately only the first arch, the remains of the second one have been removed. If you walk through the roadside arch you can also see the two bricked up doorways that also went into the pub. I can remember at an early age the smell of beer as you walked past. I think it closed in the early 1960s. These were the first arches to be let in the new London and Greenwich Railway viaduct in 1834. The wall on the right hand side was the back of the Rotherhithe Road coach sidings. P.S I see that the road sweepers have been busy along here !!!! All the best Ray
  2. You could include the original South Bermondsey Station just to the left where those railings are. All the best Ray
  3. Hi Tony. Don't forget to include the Halfway House just off to the right on the mechanics pathway. All the best Ray
  4. The old dumb buffered wagon has developed a nice sag in the middle. I could give a good home to a few of these. All the best Ray
  5. There will be a lot more members doing the Lottery in the future.
  6. Hi Matt. That is starting to look interesting. I would add the wooden fenders before you add any more surfacing to the water so that you can get it all blended in together. On our St Mellion layout I used Winsor and Newton Galleria acrylic paint mixed with other acrylics to get the water colour. I had several goes at it before I got it to look right. This comes in a tube or tub and is relatively thick. So if you apply it with a wide flatty brush it will stand up a little and you can create a wave effect. I then applied several coats of yacht varnish using the same technique to build up the clear water effect. I hope that this is of interest. All the best Ray P.S. You might remember the centre warehouse building as one that Mick Foster built for one of the early club layouts. It is now on its third layout ! Mind you, I had to repair it quite a bit and re-paint it, but it is still quite fragile.
  7. The coaches in the yellow Hornby Rocket set are called Wellington, Globe and Renown. So no duplication there. Its only the ones in the Tri-ang limited edition pack that are Times, Experience and Dispatch All the best Ray
  8. Or the 2019, 2020 and 2021 ones as well.
  9. Still waiting for my ROD version. All the best Ray
  10. Mainline produced the first Shepherd Neame van using their GWR van. The livery is prototypical, the company owned several vans, but they were all of the outside framed type, similar to SER, LC&DR and SE&CR types. I think that the Dapol one would have been a copy of the Mainline one. All the best Ray
  11. Sorry, I should have updated. I did get all the bits that i ordered after just over a year of ordering. All the best Ray
  12. That's interesting. I was not aware of that one. All the best Ray
  13. That looks interesting. Where did you get the gears from ? For the steering units, try KKPMO. "1:87 steering mechanism LKW-POM 20mm axle." Price: £7.00. This is a bit wider than the Faller units, and it comes in kit form. Available from DCC Train Automation. All the best Ray
  14. I am looking at using some of these to drive working model buses. The ones I have got will run on 1.5 volts, but have a 3mm drive shaft at the end which also has a flat on it. I have acquired some bevel gears which also have 3mm holes for the final drive to the bus axle. The only problem is that the final drive shaft is too long, I need to loose about 50% of it and they are made of bloody hard stuff. A saw will not touch it, so I am contemplating a cutting disc in a mini drill, doing a little at a time to avoid it getting hot and damaging the bearing. All the best Ray
  15. Don't forget that there was also a Metal Box Factory in Bermondsey on the approaches to London Bridge, not so far from Ewer Street. Not sure if that was all demolished, or at least some of the structure is still standing. (Or was that the one that your's was based on ?) All the best Ray P.S. I would like to model Goudhurst, which has a lot of potential. Don't forget Martin Brent's Hope Mill which was inspired by that.
  16. Just caught up with this. Sorry to see the devastation. Perhaps a couple of pictures of my Hawkhurst might aid your inspiration ? All the best Ray
  17. The Metropolitan kit was later marketed by IKB Models, which I think was tied up with ABS. Not sure about the others. All the best Ray
  18. We have M & D, Southdown and Brighton and Hove, how about East Kent and Hastings and District
  19. Will these be available in 4mm through your nominated retailer ? All the best Ray P.S. I have one of those black and white cats as well.
  20. The Midland ones only ever had one veranda, including the earlier 4 wheeled ones. NB. If I remember correctly, the Isle of Wight Central Railway bought one of the 4 wheelers second hand and re-built that with a second veranda ! All the best Ray
  21. Just five minutes walk from where I live !!! Long live England ! All the best Ray
  22. Hi Gary. I will be interested in some of these for my Hawkhurst layout which is set in the SE & CR period. Look forward to seeing your ordering information. I do not do Ebay. I think that there is a fair range of transfers available on the HMRS Pressfix/Methix Southern wagons sheet. Probably just things like the LB & SCR illiterate symbols and small garters required, the later for coaches if they get added.. All the best Ray (I hope that they do not come at a Snails pace).
