This is a Roco 42615, heavily altered. .
This is a Heljan 89031/89041, again altered. (Like the one mentioned previously).
Both 60 footers.

Gosh, what a lark this is turning into. I can't buy the Kitwood Hills one that I wanted, the Greenwood's out on price if nothing else, the SE Finecast kit doesn't impress at all, I seem to have missed the boat with the the Midland Railway Centre ones, and whoever it is that I can't remember doesn't make anything over a 50ft. All I want is a decent 60 - 70ft turntable!
I'm off to lie down in a corner and whimper quietly ...
The most realistic (to British eyes) 60 footer is the Roco 42615, but it is very expensive ,(£350-£400 ish), second hand ones don't come up very often and make high prices, but it looks good, works well and reliably, and is quiet.

It was prototypical in that some roundhouses had them (Midland), Heljan did the same model with a more familiar bridge deck, the one you've shown can easily be altered by cutting the deck down (it just lifts off), and the controller is very unreliable with replacements unobtainable but when it conks it's pretty easy to convert to a switch or transformer or dcc control, but you lose the indexing. You have to park it by eyeball, like the real thing.

Yes, the relay/electromagnet is the same thing. The electromagnet releases as soon as you let go of the switch. The loñg grey arm should be sprung so that it is trying to get away from the electromagnet and into one of the cog indents as it's natural position.
-
It's a long time since I took one of these apart, but if I remember correctly there are 3 wires to the mechanism:- a common (-), a positive to the relay, and a positive to the motor. The switch supplies a feed to the motor wire all the time but only supplies a feed to the relay when you operate the switch; a temporary contact on the first position until the switch springs back, a permanent contact on the second position until you release the switch. When you operate the switch the relay moves and pulls back the long grey bar out of 1 of the 4 indents in the toothed cog, and completes the circuit for the motor feed wire. The motor rotates the cog, and the rotating cog is now holding the long grey bar against it's spring to make the motor feed contact until it encounters the next indent, where it falls into the indent and breaks the motor contact. If you make sure the long grey bar is readily trying to spring into an Indent, the relay works when the switch moves, and the motor contacts meet when the grey bar pulls back, all should be well.
I've just put a thingy on one of your posts to attract your attention.

Now that’s as heartfelt and sensible a post as I’ve read in a long time. Chronologically,Hornby have an annoying habit of releasing coaches at different times. You are hanging around for weeks/ months on end for the missing one to finally appear or it’s released in penny numbers and sells out quickly to reappear finally when some of us have fallen off the tree.I’m sure of course that production difficulties beset Hornby’s plans but in this particular case chaps can we make a plea for some really joined up delivery. A nice big box containing the complete train will do very nicely thank you.
I've got a feeling they might do the complete set, plus the Coronation loco, in a fancy wooden box. That would be a dream, the price would probably be a nightmare.

A 96-year-old woman's note to her bank! Priceless!
The following is an actual letter that was sent to a bank by a 96 year-old woman. The bank manager thought it amusing enough to have it published in the New York Times.
----------------------------
Do we know if the bank manager did anything else besides having the letter published, to redress the situation. Did he, for example, refund the $30, add an extra $100, and go round with a bunch of flowers and kiss her feet?

C6T.
I think Quest is giving us a weekend of live superbikes.

But it doesn't look connected to anything.

What is the linkage to nothing on the rear driver?

Special case. Pipped at the post for the championship in his first season in a very competitive field, largely because of team errors; won the championship in his second year in another very competitive season. Complete article from day 1, outcompeting double champion Alonso as teammate over his first season, and for ever after. He has enhanced his natural talent by the benefit of experience - concentrating on always finishing, over riskier moves for the win - but the driving is what it always was from day 1 in F1: outstanding.
Note also that he has never had the appointed position in a team - as enjoyed by Schumacher and Vettel - of 'lead driver'; he has always had to compete with his teammate.
He does it fairly and without cheating as well.

I do not model BR period, but years ago a well known large model railway dealer who was just starting out at the time told me he used to lightly rub Johnsons Baby Oil over his 2nd hand locos to make them look like shiny new, could someone with a "flat" green one have a go and report back if it makes any difference. I don't think it could hurt, just tryin' to help.

Mr Mod's fingers must be a blur on the delete button, last time I saw something going backwards this fast was Mr Vettels career in F1.

When power is applied all it does is make a graunching sound and bounce up and down a little, with no fwd/rev movement; either there's a pretty basic drivechain (motor/gearbox) issue or the wheels are locking up (quartering?).
Brian
Just check the valve gear first. One of my Patriots did that after I'd been messing with it. Turned out I'd squeezed the valve gear on one side and locked it.

Last week mine was "sell for 5% fees". The week before was "50% off fees". If only I could work out which was best to go for.

The down side is that the 7mm sheet is about 3 times the price! And I'll have little use for most of the sheet.
There also seem to be fewer stockists of 7mm transfer sheets! Might there be any 7mm modellers out there willing to sell me a portion of the 7mm Methfix sheet 2a? If so I'd be very grateful!
Alan
I did it the other way round. I used the numbers I wanted, then divided the rest of the sheet into about 6 different lots of different styles etc (about 2 years ago, can't remember exact details) and sold them on eBay. I got my numbers for free and made about £5 profit after costs. I bought direct from HMRS, Google away for them.

I can't remember what sizes are what, but I wanted large straw coloured numbers for a Garrett which weren't available on the OO gauge sheet, but I worked out one of the sizes on the O gauge sheet was right (enough for me). They are the same sheets only bigger, so work out what the O gauge sizes would represent in OO.

Have a look at a Kibri 39456.

I like how Hornby make it clear that the model was researched, designed and tooled at the same time as the Hornby centenary Rocket.
They clearly don't want people thinking they've only now just decided to do it after seeing Rails' announcement a few days ago.
They've already shown pictures of a pre-production sample, and said the production ones will be here in September, only 2 months away.

The Heljan turntables are notoriously problematic and unfixable, if you type Heljan turntables into the search box you should see previous discussions on this subject.

When the Heljan ones turn up, they tend to be between £100 -£200.
