  1. The cork is down. The layout is starting to appear! A nice feeling after all this time!
  2. Looks fantastic Bob! Gary
  3. That's the box I have for Oak Hill 2, it's about 40mm x 40mm, with the steps sticking out an extra 10mm-ish those measurements are taken from memory, I could measure it properly later if you want. How much of a rush are you in? I (and others) are working on something for the Oak Hill Works range. Gary
  4. Well what do we have here, looks like some baseboards ready for building on (OK I still need to sand them, but I won't tell if you don't) I used to be scared of all forms of woodwork, because I always felt like I wasn't very good at it, but this unit seems to have come out quite nicely, and the large lift out doors in the front work beautifully to get at the underside of the layout, and allow me to store some of my other layouts under there! Guess it must nearly be time to get the track down then! Thanks for looking, hope you enjoyed, Gary
  5. Thanks! I'm really happy with the plan Not sure how I'm going to handle the actual fiddle yard exit yet, but I'm sure I'll figure it out (or someone on here will come up with something). Those E1's really could be piled up high sometimes! Such as this picture of 113, in it's rather smart lined black livery Would it be wrong to point out that 113 in lined black is one of the exclusives being done by shop? and that you can pre-order it here? No, good. 😛 Gary
  6. Well I had hoped the baseboards would be finished and track laying to have commenced by now, but the weather had other plans, 2 days of rain followed by a long day at the shop has meant I couldn't take the boards outside for the final cuts to be made, hopefully the boards will be finished off over this weekend. I have instead occupied the time by updating my AnyRail track plan for the layout, a few changed have been made since the plan got printed, mainly new buildings, I have also adjusted the tracks in the station to a prototypical 45mm centre as suggested by @Compound2632 some time ago. So some chopping of rails will have to happen, I feel a bit more confident about this having now built my own 3 way point. So here is the (hopefully) final plan, ready for me to start putting track down next week: You'll notice that since my last plan shown on here I have measured the goods shed properly and positioned it accordingly on the layout, and I should be able to get quite a nice amount of interior on display. I'm quite looking forward to making that, although I'll need to do a lot of research! I've also moved the coaling stage to a new location (between the shed entrance line and turntable line) that gives it much more space for actually storing coal, I will be aiming to build something like this one from Three Bridges: For those who are so inclined Here is a copy of the AnyRail track plan that you can have a play with (The free version will let you open it) https://www.oakhillmodelrailway.co.uk/downloads/trackPlans/oakHillMk2.any Thanks for looking everyone, hope you enjoyed, Gary
  7. Correct! In fact I have several kits that I have already test printed, but aren't on the website yet because I haven't had time to test build them, and I won't list anything until I know it works. Gary
  8. I would like to at some point, on this occasion, unfortunately not, just for a lack of time in arranging such things, next time I am going to cross Modelu's path I'll plan a bit better and have a costume ready. Gary
  9. It's been a while, but I'm back! I finally did some modelling! and I think this is a rather exciting update personally. This first bit of modelling I've done, which has kickstarted my mojo for the main layout again was a row of houses, and a shop that came into work, and I couldn't resist painting the shop to match my shop (yes I'm having a whole terrace on the layout for the sake of having a model of my shop, no I'm not sorry) I've even managed to get an accurate interior in the shop (Who knew you could get Dapol wagons in 1905?) I just need to visit Modelu and get a model of myself to stand inside, good thing I'm at Ally Pally on Sunday, and so are they! As I said this led to a resurgence of mojo for the layout, and following a delivery this morning, we suddenly have baseboards! (nothing is screwed permanently yet, in fact the wood hasn't even been properly cleaned up yet!! I already have all the track I need, so I guess it's time to get the boards finished, and get the layout built! Exciting times! I have also finally launched (Ok not properly yet, still have some bit's to do, and new photos to take) my 3D printed kit website! WIth lots of stuff still to add (and not just Southern area), so check back occasionally https://www.oakhillworks.co.uk/ Thanks for looking, hope you enjoyed, Gary
  10. At the moment I am concentrating on 4mm, but once the printing is more established I have plans on moving into other scales, starting with 7mm. I have already redone a few of my own designs in 7mm as a test (Most stuff on the website is designed by other people, so is upto them), unfortunately nothing that would run on GWR metals yet, but it will come one day! Gary
  11. More than happy to discuss doing prints locally in the UK via my fledgling 3D printing business, already working with a few designers including Woko, lots of bits to test print/build and get added to the website, but the slowly growing range can be seen at https://www.oakhillworks.co.uk/ Gary EDIT: Although maybe not of interest to people in a GWR topic, the next kit to be added will be an as built LBSC E4 which will be the biggest print variable when it goes out (although I do have a couple of things bigger ready to go), just need to test built it!
  12. You heard the man Rob, we're gonna be busy!! I'd best buy some more resin 🤣 Gary
  13. Oh Rob! Now this is very exciting! Once I've got test prints done and am happy my machine prints them well they will appear on https://www.oakhillworks.co.uk/ (You'll notice I need new photos for pretty much everything, as they are all awaiting painting IRL!!) Gary
  14. Since AWS is short for Amazon Web Services, there's 2 different companies mentioned in the bit you quoted. Can Andy go back to running the site now? Gary
  15. Fantastic! Glad it has arrived OK, let me know if there are any issues with parts. You'll be able to make some progress on the layout now 😉 Gary
  16. Fantastic! Good to see this project coming back to life!! Gary
  17. Correct the Wills kit was an E5, designed for a Hornby-Dublo R1 chassis, I've got 2 of them! Still available from SE Finecast (Now owned by Squires, so at a lot of shows) and they make an etched chassis for it now, I keep meaning to buy some for mine! Gary
  18. I still have a layout to BritMod-00 standards, and fully intend on keeping it as such. and maybe building some more, but it's been a while since I've seen anyone else working on one Gary
  19. Definitely longer, the platforms at Hailsham were quite a bit longer than the longest trains actually allowed to run on the line (1200ft down and 1400ft up, the line was restricted to 5 4/6 wheelers) Gary
  20. Clearly the answer is to drive to Eastbourne and pinch some sand from the beach, it's only ~250 miles from North Devon 🤣 I hear there's a really nice model shop to pop into while you're there 😛 I have a few LBSC and SECR wagons in my 3D print files, some of these look even more like LBSC wagons than the unpainted Dapol ones. I'm sure I can manage to print a few, I can't remember what I have off hand, but drop me a PM with what you're after and I will see what I can do. Number 49 is in the post and expected to be with me in the next few days! It'll be my 10th modern one! I only had 13 this time last year! Gary
  21. What a fantastic gift! Can't have too many Terriers! Merry Christmas! Gary
