  1. Today I received a parcel so I couldn't wait to open it Once opened I soon realized it was from Terry with Glebe Road Junction which I would like to say thank you to for allowing first dibs on buying them The class 70 Freightliner and the MPV (yeah) So I've opened them up and taken some pictures
  2. I think the point problem is solved The problem, well I'm using Gaugemaster PM-1 point motors and after checking the voltage with a meter I discover that there is in fact power to the track Checking the point alignment with the motor switching I noticed the right hand motor was not aligned properly so sorting all that out all now runs smooth with no stalling So if it's still working tomorrow I will start ballasting what I can up to the bridges
  3. Well... I've gone and done it Everything but the track and trees Here it was before for those who never got to see it Here it is now for them of a scream ish nature look away now Here are all the bits The building is now in temporary position as wall as the lorry and the digger Tomorrow the lights will be placed All the bits safe in a little box I'll soon get ballasting once the point problem is sorted, doesn't mean I can't start on something else Oh dear no turning back now
  4. I am going to start taking bits n pieces of Entering the yard so the layout is now no longer going to be used Every thing that can be re used will soon start to appear on the new layout The three way point issue The two lines nearest to the road is working be the one to the loading yard still isn't working The only thing I can think of is the point motors changing the polarity so I'll look into my wiring again Pictures soon
  5. While the road is a work in progress I've made a start with the yard The whole area was painted brown and I have scattered the woodland scenic earth upon a layer of watered down glue and left over 24 hours The results aren't what I expected I think it's meant to be brown not green What do you think to this photo It looks greener in the photo than how I see it too Other than that not a lot done I have created a board to cover the roadway and I'm going to extend the second line for another bridge so it disguises the road underneath The Third line I'm not extending because then it would look daft One more thing...three way points? I have one on the layout Entering the yard, That sometimes causes trouble with stalling All the wiring has been checked looks fine I have had a meter on the track sometimes there's a current other times not, yet I live with it On the new layout I covered the point contacts of the blades before painting, then cleaned it up afterwards all seemed to work fine Here's the trouble I checked it to see if the point was working fine, no troubles Today there is no power running through the point at all Again checked the wires, they look ok but the meter says otherwise These 3way points aren't connected underneath with much to conduct power through it so I was wondering Could I use a copper wire instead of there flimsy wire replace all the contacts, would that improve power through the track? Would re-wiring the underneath help me or is it a waste of time?
  6. I would like the Bachmann Feightliner class 70 and the Bachmann MPV please Terry if you haven't sold them yet Would you be able to combine postage for the both of them They'll go to the new layout I'm building along with the Freightliner class 66 I bought from you before Shaun
  7. This road idea is a pain but it's getting there... anyway I've got some powerful magnets coming because of little test track I did and they seem to pull the lorries round just fine (I think it maybe me messing it up who knows) the little magnets that came in the kits I think just aren't strong enough yet the one's on the test track pull along nicely so I'm back to magnets everyone Long story short, other idea's don't seem to be working going back to basics Why couldn't I write that in the first place oh well never mind eh
  8. Today the track was given a quick spray of brown to represent the colour of sleepers Nothing special but it does the trick and looks good when it's been ballast The bridge has been weathered up and some of the workmen are just checking the security fence is secure from trespassers I took a photo while I was there the foreman wasn't too pleased to see me lol
  9. Trying another method for the road surface... Polyfilla, hopefully the foam in between the road track will keep the space clear enough so the chain can run smoothly and the vehicles can be dragged along without catching the sides I did try the magnets approach but that didn't work so well Another idea would to try some old Scalextric track with the grooves cut out with the track underneath Railway related now I've got some buffers ready to make up n paint so at weekend I might turn my attention to giving the sleepers a coat of brown paint Maybe so ballasting too
  10. It is possible to separate the two although they may be a issue to decouple the chain running through it all
  11. It's hit n miss at the moment but things do look promising, having some teething troubles but it is getting there slowly The problem started because I have had to cut the track path out because having magnets was never going to work So they are small pins stuck under the vehicles that go in little holes on the chain to propel them along I may need to redo the path again but that is the beauty of trying something new looks good working though
  12. I've changed the settings it should be public now Forgot how to place it in my post so I just put a link
  13. Also a surprise now a little test video you must see http://youtu.be/i3YP3eiF-yk
  14. This afternoon I did a bit of coupling replacement on my collection with Kadee's Not all are done but I've made a start Got my numbered pots ready This is one of the ssa scrap wagons with a piece from one of the mea wagons modified to fit so it's the right height and length for the NEM couplings One of my plank wagons again modified with a piece from the mea wagon all correct in height and length All my shunters fitted now too A shot of the work space My class 57 Network rail fitted as well as my scrapped Perrier tank
  15. Special delivery Oh it's like Christmas Only BETTER!!! (sorry for shouting) And there's yet more coming (yeah)
  16. Well... It hasn't stopped raining since Saturday so today when I got home we have a sunny spell for about 20 minutes however it was enough so I could cut all my wood down needed to build my trestle legs So here they are in there glory with the layout on top and I haven't edit any of the pictures because I don't think they give the surprise idea that's install for the coming months Trestle 1 Trestle 2 With the layout on top This picture might give the game away for whats coming but who cares I haven't decided yet on a fiddle yard yet or any other ideas for that matter The idea of it seems to be always last on my mind Anyway I can start on a few things now it's up in the air and I'm not sat on the kitchen floor anymore (yeah)
  17. That's the beauty of imagination, it's not based on anywhere or anything it can be what ever I shape, yes it's not protypical but in the end it will be for their entertainment as well as mine
  18. Wires all connected up now, all tested and working And all works, no stalling either the points too All tidy now too not like before and it's the first time it's tidy wow Thank you to Richard at Everard Junction for the idea of using the magnets for the kadees It works a treat, funny how little things amuse little minds If I can get the surprise sorted out I could start on something esle No plan to go to so it's what I think is next important Here is a few pics
  19. There will be a fiddle yard built at a later date or I'll use the one I'm using now using on the current layout at the moment I haven't decided yet Other news the track has now some droppers wired up tomorrow point motors and a bus wire then it if all gets done this weekend a test run Here's hoping
  20. Was going to start on the layout again today Instead I'm doing car insurance aaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrhhhhhhhhhhh God give me strength
  21. Without giving too much away the nearest track to the viewer has had an extension added so I can have longer train and will add a scenic element to the other project I'm doing on the layout There are pictures but I think it might give the game away
  22. It could I'll have to think about that one
  23. Cork down, track down time for a rest now
  24. It won't fall to bits that's for sure lol
  25. wow simply just wow I will keep my eye on your layout as it progresses I had my first exhibition in June with my layout and believe me it's a nerve racking but wonderful experience Now I'm trying to get myself sorted to do other shows cause once you've done one your hooked Keep up the hard work Shaun
