  1. Don’t tell me that this is the same loco you sold off all those years ago. richard
  2. Had you thought of asking for a miracle? richard
  3. You don’t realise how big a project this is until shots like this. fantastic. richard
  4. Wait, you were actually using a mobile ‘phone! did I miss the three wise men coming from the east? That happened last time you turned the device on. richard
  5. Flooding the cream is sometimes easier than trying to paint in the thin brown lines second. If you catch my drift. richard
  6. Try dean gwr buffers they seemed to have more of the look when I had a go at my 4 Barnums.
  7. Not sure on ger but gcr only had vents over the smoking compartments on its four wheelers, certainly to begin with. That might also have been the case with others. having said that the Parker London extension stock had more things I needed to attach to the roof than I could almost fit on! richard
  8. These needed finishing as the kids only got so far with the builds and so have distracted from proper modeling. F22 F35 and a Tie fighter. bit of fun tracking down bits which they had cut out and snapped in half or fitted incorrectly. richard
  9. I have got as far as I can get with this here. the clearstory section is resting on the cross supports for the sides and so is too low. It can travel like that to keep it protected. Leaves two roofs and vents to sort. Then painted into varnished wood livery. richard
  10. What a restrained reply. You picked your words very carefully. there is one exception. 2mm. It seems to be the only way to get loads of power. Motor in the tender with power through a drive shaft to the coupled wheels on the loco. richard
  11. That’s kind, but I just need the flat sections so two pieces of brass sheet I can roll/ form will work. Should be cheaper than the etch, as nicely done as that most likely would be. richard
  12. Turns out in a fit of optimism I went for it. both on and no solder spread everywhere. That does not often happen. richard
  13. I like your rendition of the silver jubilee in the last photo. Just need a photo of the A4 on the front. glad to hear your health is improving. richard
  14. Almost as far as I can get it here. Above the door it should have 5 horizontal strips to represent the ventilator, it has three etched into the side of the carriage to give a key. Leave it like this or risk doing a botched job to get it to look correct with the limited tools I have brought? need to fold/ straighten the two clearstory sides and then need to wait to access brass to make both parts of the roof. richard
  15. Very realistically weathered roof. Any secret to achieving it? richard
  16. That is exactly how I did the ones for my 4 Barnums. Built using a little jig I made. Well I needed 32 of them. I chickened out of doing an ornate set. richard
  17. Borrow it. Our club has looked at getting these sort of items which we can share around. We have not progressed with the idea, but what we do do is share our own equipment when we come across jobs that need a specific tool and someone already has the tool. thus saving everyone buying the item to use once. It works very well. richard
  18. Not sure why u boats would be in the first place.
  19. The helpful info has allowed the model to get to this stage. bits are missing ( like a roof) and some pieces have a description on the etch but I have yet to find a description in the instructions about where the go. I might have to go free style on this, though how much I can do that away from the bench is unclear. The roulette of buying off eBay. richard
