    I agree, that single line red lining on the frames is the very devil to get to work properly. How anyone makes it go on as intended is a complete mystery to me.

    I would rather someone does the fishing for me. Fishing is so boring. That is what fish monger sis are for. Besides it would free up more time to do modeling.

    Then with the bogies ''Tis always the way, this is a trial fit and it highlights how the door "jammers?" Will foul the bogies so they really need to be bent properly. I had just done a simple fold down but the need the extra 45degree bend in the middle. Totally unnoticeable from two feet but it will mean the stock can go round a corner. Richard

    If your school has a 3d scanner you could scan it and ten 3d print them just the costof the thread, unless you can convince them it is for your capstone.

    it will also be the first introduction for some young ones into the hobby and thus sustaining it. In the same way that under 5s footbal might look silly and is definately not the premier league but it is the hook of the kids into the hobby/ sport.

    Thanks. That looks good. The straight splasher is also easier to make, and line. I have a mogul to hand so it might need to force its way into the queue. I would try to follow thedraweing if only so we can compare the relative visula merits of the two designs. Now the wind needs to drop from the gale that is blowing and the snow advised for tomorrow needs to stay away so i can spray the coal wagons in grey primer. Richard

    I had seen the diagram, that was what spurred my thoughts. Love to see what you have done. As to the coal wagons, Robinson was definitely thinking beyond his time, like Babbage but not quite such a leap of imagination.Richard

    The head of the full coal train will have this pair leading Great resin castings from mr king. The underframe is so on show it had to be done in some detail. These were taken on the cooker as the extra light allows the file size to be small enough. Still working through the first target for the year. In month three and not distracted yet, but the Robinson pacific does keep calling to me. That and the mogul. Richard

    I too have lived i many places, 36 homes in too many countries to think about right now, it has left me with an accent from nowhere. It does mean i am viewed as an outsider whereever i go. It did also mean i could have picked any company to follow, for some reason i picked the LNER area, who knows why, maybe just all those great locos. Richard

    We have to be quiet? Is that because when ever we start to enjoy ourselves the other half worries we do not have enough to do and find us another job.

    I have four in the empties train and another four in the full train. They travel together back to home but separately when full to their different destinations.

    Photos now on a computer, resized and showing the first empties tain ready Am now 5 wagons into the fulls. there is another half and empty tain to work on. Just awaiting wheels. There have been few posts due to the repetative nature of up dating coal wagon after coal wagon, bearings fitted, metal wheels, couplings and interior. Plus heavy work load through February. Richard

    It was the first steam locos road behind. My poor quality thirteen year old taken photos show it as a sort of olive drab.

    All this just brews envy in one born 15 years too late to realistically remember main line steam. I also hope the sighting of Barnum's does not lead to lots looking to model them as that would push up the price of the kits I am trying to acquire to build a rake in GCR livery. So far I have one brake and one third. Richard

    I remember reading an account in one of the mags of union of South Africa doing more than 126 in BR days but they had lifted the speed recorder needle in the cab, or such like, trying to pull the details out of my head from at least 20 years ago when I read it. Perhaps BR did not want to encourage different drivers to "have a go " so hushed up each possible record which explains why the 114 of hoole is given as the post war record? Richard

    I am sorry to hear of your loss. You do realise that if you become a national treasure you will have to be listed and then no alterations could be made to you without local government approval!

    In future, I shall make my 'arguments' as cogent and absolutely clear as possible. But, are they arguments, or rather different/alternative points of view? Or in America they are called "alternative facts". As an historian I enjoy the very concept. Richard

    I may well do but have yet to work out 90% of the things this iPad will do . They are encouraging me to get the next one up. Then I could have 95% I don't understand.

    If you. Will pay for the trip across the pond I will happily bring bricks. From memory you should be able to squeeze in 6 inches on the end, just on the sector plate. Or have it as a slot in section just for exhibitions.

    The coal train slowly comes together. I would show you but since changing to ios10 the photo files are to big, how do I resize files on an iPad? Richard
