  1. Three shall be winging their way to Australia when they come into stock. Very much looking forward to them!
  2. Hornby could jump on the Lion/Titfield theme and do a more accurate train pack than the last one they did!
  3. Someone keeps shrinking my 14xx!
  4. Was sent from Hattons via Royal Mail, but all that is now in the past because as it turns out, miracles do happen...
  5. It’s been nearly 2 months since my 14xx was posted and still nothing has shown up yay
  6. I’ll get mine to Australia one day maybe
  7. I’ve always found the BR blue Hornby have used for their steam locos to be near spot on. If only we could get the same for BR/GWR green!
  8. My Dapol 14xx seems really incapable of towing even a single autocoach around, can any help me with it?
  9. Yep, I drilled the holes out slightly on my coupling bars so that they’re a drop on fit, no issues to report
  10. According to this email just received from Hattons the models are due in next week.
  11. So, who’s gonna be the first brave person to try and fit sound to one of these things?
  12. Mines run on 1st radius curves (courtesy of the Christmas set) with no issues. The couplers did prove tricky at first to get set up (10 minutes to put the train together first time around) but after some flash was cleaned off its now an easy process. Actual chain couplings would be nice, but I imagine for a RTR model you need to factor in the ability of everyone who will buy your product.
  13. PSM released Korean made brass models of Flying Scotsman and other A3s in HO scale back in the 1990s. They were going to do the A4s and a further range of models (including Castles, Kings etc) but these never eventuated. When they come up for sale they regularly pull between $2 - 2.5k.
  14. I’ve managed to put a loop of track together this evening to give Rocket a bit of a run. Happy to report that it’s been running smoothly for the past hour and a bit non stop with no issues rearing their head.
  15. Is that the tender drive model? Haven’t got one of those to compare it with
  16. I’m happy to say it works quite well, @Edwardian. There is an ever so slight waddle to it as the piston reaches the end of the stroke (seems that the slidebars are a touch short) but after a bit of running in it to me is quite acceptable. Not too sure if the attached photo helps anyone with wiring but I’ve marked out with paint pens where each wire is attached to on the tenders PCB.
  17. I’ll have to find my plunger pickup Princess to do a comparison between old and new at some point. For now though a later 1960s Aus made Princess will suffice.
  18. Princess Elizabeth arrived down under today, and jeez, it’s properly heavy! Hornby have done a fantastic job with these locos.
  19. Welcome to Australia, little one
  20. It’s funny, with the prices on eBay for the new Rockets it’s actually cheaper now to buy the live steam version
  21. Whilst waiting for my R3809 to arrive (hopefully intact) I came across another Rocket which was a bit more local to me. Safe to say I now have two Hornby Rocket packs on their way. Knowing my luck with the original style model and reading up on people’s experiences with the new ones so far it’ll be fun to see whether either work!
  22. Just received an email from Hattons saying the order for my Rocket has been processed and my card charged. Going off previous delivery times I may have it by next Friday. Exciting times!
  23. Is it just me or does it look like there are two screws missing from Pre Grouping Fan’s model?
  24. Would anyone know when Hattons are getting their allocated Rockets in at all? Seeing all these photos is getting me all excited
  25. It’s damned tiny that’s for sure! Hopefully I should get an email from Hattons soon charging my card then another saying it’s on it’s way to me Down Under!
