  1. I'm looking at cordless drills and screwdrivers as the battery on mine does not hold a charge anymore. They're only for general DIY and building baseboards. I was looking at Bosch products as they're a brand name but wondered what peolple use on here. Steve
  2. I think I'm on that slippery slope already! bought a rolling road a few months ago and I'm getting sidetracked with this DCC thing, tweaking settings and stuff and trying to fine tune things, where wiil it all end! Steve.

Liking the green diesels, that looks great. Steve.
  4. With a bit of trial and error I cautiously managed to get the clip off and found that these things had seized, not sure what they are called though. I cleaned a load of excess gunk off and re-oiled them and everything now works fine. Just need to sort out the springy contacts for the lights as they are not working consistently. Thanks for all the advice guys, I wouldn't have known what to do if it wasn't for the help and advice on here, I'm really pleased I've got my loco back. Steve.

As my local station is on the GE mainline and not far from Stratford I grew up seeing a fair few of these, albeit in BR blue. I think they look very good in green and agree with Keith, the weathering really set's it off. Steve.

Enjoyed that last set of pics. D5612 is my favourite Dock Green loco. Steve.
  7. I've been looking at the model and can anybody tell me how to unclip the drive shaft so I can check if the motor runs on it's own? Steve.
  8. I've tried turning the BEMF off and cleaned everything I could. The loco runs fine but is still jerky on low speeds. I put the decoder in a Heljan class 16 and that runs like a dream so that's where it will stay. I'm putting it down to one of those strange things that can happen with DCC and I'll get a better decoder when I get the chance. Steve.

Loving the 'Locos of Dock Green' series. A couple of questions about the couplings you use. Are they Dinghams and when pushing stock, do they rely on the buffers or would the coupling prevent any buffer locking? I'm looking at 4mm couplings and I'm sure I've seen these around. Steve.
  11. Just 2 colours, no airbrush! Wow! Steve.

You're correct Chaz. Whatever it's called it's a fine looking loco. Although I grew up in the 70's/80's I do iike green diesels. Steve.
  15. Fantastic model. I like the black and white pics. How will you do the ballast? Steve.

More great pics. I really like the class 31, looks great. Steve.
  17. It is one of he latest ones but runs well on DC. I'll try turning the BEMF off and give everything a good clean. Steve.
  18. I've put a Hattons 21 pin decoder in a Bachmann class 40, adjusted cv's 2,3 and 4 but it runs very jerky at low speeds. Has anyone else tried this loco/decoder combination. I've got Bachmann class 25's with Hattons decoders and they run great. Any advice greatly appreciated. Steve.
  19. I was trying to get one to work in a Heljan class 27, tried everything but it wont work well. Hattons sent out a replacement and were really helpful. They work fine in every other loco I've put them in though. Steve.
  20. Stunning stuff! I'd love to pluck up the courage and weather a class 20 like that. Steve.
  21. Thanks. So if I put in the wrong one I might not get all the cv's available and on the other hand if it show's too many it just wont write them? Steve.

Here's a link to their website. It has always been a good show but I'm not sure when the last one was, I thinki they had trouble getting a venue. http://www.ehmrc.org.uk/about.html Steve.
  23. Thanks guys. It's an 8 pin and the decoder as a black sleeve over it with the Bachmann logo on it. Steve.
  24. I'm pretty new to using Decoder pro and I've a couple of decoders that it cant find when I select read type from decoder. I think they are Bachmann but not sure what ones exactly. My question is if I select it manually from the list and it's the wrong one does it matter? Hope that makes sense. Steve.
