  1. Thanks for that, I'll put the date in my diary, I'm not a million miles away from there. Steve.
  2. Just came across this thread, fantastic layout. The buildings and urban atmosphere are geat, love to see the layout in the flesh sometime. I like the construction methods as well, great stuff. Steve.
  3. A little bit off topic and going back a couple of posts but is the track still being used at Trumpington? I only asked as I think that's where the park and ride to Cambridge is and I don't recall seeing any rail activity around there. Steve.
  4. Lovely bit of modelling there, thanks for the step by step photos. Steve.
  5. I swapped lengthy e-mails with Hornby about my Class 31 and the conclusion was there was nothing that could be done. I'd love to know if you could get a replacement chassis. Steve.
  6. Your layout's looking great. I like the class 37 on it and that sky is fantastic, keep up the good work. Steve.
  7. Really struggling to get on with the scenery. I cant decide weather to have a road bridge at the left hand end or use some buildings as view blockers to hide the fiddle yard entrance, it's really frustrating as this is the point that most of my layouts fail and I'm determined to see this through! Steve.
  8. Thanks for the info guys, I was afraid that was the case, it was a project that has been in the cupboard for a few years and when I bought the kit I didn't know about other motors. Steve.
  9. I've built a Silver Fox Hunslet shunter kit and got a Tenshodo spud to power it. Can anyone tell me how to get the best out of the motor? It runs terrible, I've cleaned what I can and I cant see any oiling points. I've run it in but cant see what else I can do, I really bwant to run the model but the motor is jerky and way too fast, any ideas most welcome? Thanks. Steve.
  10. Does anybody know if there is any flushglazing kits available for the early Bachmann class 03? I've looked at the Shawplan website and there wasn't any on the list, wondered if SE finecast did them. Thanks Steve.
  11. Thanks for that RFS, I didn't know about the CV30 value, I'll check that. The loco did work ok with a Hornby R8249 decoder but I wanted to improve the running by puting a better decoder in it! Steve.
  12. Having replied to another thread about how you get what you pay for with decoders and I've never had a problem with 'better' decoders I'm now having problems with my Hornby class 31 fitted with a Lenz standard decoder. Fine in one direction but going the other way the loco runs for about a second then stops then starts then stops then starts and so on........ I've never heard of this before. Everything is fine on DC without the decoder in it. I've only adjusted basic cv's and have factory reset the decoder. Has anyone heard of this? Steve.

    Dock Green

Just seen the Railex 2018 thread and noticed Dock Green in the line up. I've put the date in my diary :-) Steve.
  14. Looks good. I like the look of large locos moving a few wagons around. Could you post a google earth view. I'd love to see a track plan. Steve.
  15. Phil, I had strange things happen with a Hattons decoder and they were really helpful in getting it sorted out. They sent a replacement but it still wouldn't work properly in a certain loco so I put it in another one, hence my opinion they work in certain locos. Give them a call, I'm sure they will sort it out. Steve.
  16. I've been fitting decoders to some of my stock and found the Hattons ones work ok but not with every loco and I've not tried them in steam locos. Tried Hornby and Bachmann but they are just ok as well. You cant always tweak the cheaper decoders either although the Hattons decoders support a lot of cv's. I've also got a Zimmo and ESU and also Lenz standard, these are what I will go for in the future as the performance is amazing without any tweaking. They give such smooth running that an extra few quid is well worth it. Hope that helps. Steve

    Dock Green

Good luck with your other project Chaz. Always like looking at any photos of Dock Green, keep posting as long as you like. Steve.
  18. Great stuff James. I remember that showcase and watching you doing that demo. I went home very inspired but never plucked up the courage to try it myself. Steve.
  19. Can anybody tell me when corrugated roller shutters first appeared as doors on warehouse entrances as I'm looking at running stock from the steam/diesel transition and maybe a bit earlier. Steve.
  20. The advice certainly helped me Kev, I wouldn't have known what to do if it wasn't for the people on here. I'm still trying to get the lights to work though! Had them working for a couple of days then one end stopped working! I think when I've got a decoder for it I'll fit it then hard wire the lights and hopefully not have take the body off too much. Steve
