Westerham, + Weald. Tarmac surface for the platform
sb67 replied to westerhamstation's topic in Layout topics
Hi Adrian, I've a question. Cast your mind back to when you were making brambles, bushes etc, I was wondering which spray adhesive you use to stick the scatter on, I've been trying to use strong hold hairspray but it's not permanently sticking the scatter. Thanks. Steve. -
Ok, thanks for that, I really enjoyed the cab ride, a fine locomotive. Did you have a good weekend, the loco seemed fine to my untrained eyes and ears? Steve.

. I've been recognised! Hope I didn't get in the way of any of your pics. Steve

Fantastic day Saturday, prob the best one I've been to yet, for me at least. I really liked seeing 50 026 and D5343 running and managed a cab ride in both, seeing as I was 50 myself of the 22nd I had to hve a ride on the 50! Shame they couldn't get the class 33 running while I was there but I guess these things happen. Never less it was a fantastic gala, the place never seems to disappoint. Hopefully I can make the steam gala next week. Steve.

I'm trying to change the look of the Metcalfe Brewey, I've covered the sack hoist and canopy in Scalescenes corrugated iron, not sure whether it should be clapboard though? I'm hoping to give the roof some texture as well. Steve. -
Thanks Tref, like the use of the Dapol engine shed, didn't recognise it at first. Steve.

What switches are they David? At that price might be handy to get some for the toolbox. Steve. -
Some great work Stu, I'm really enjoying the photo's. I really like the clasp building, did you scribe the panels on it or are they strips of plastic? Thanks. Steve.

Scenery and flowers,bushes and backscenes.

Just found his thread and hink it's great, made me want to add a rough bit of land with some Buddleja growing and maybe some plants in pots outside buildings even though its a yard layout! A couple of questions and appologies if I've missed it but was the really fine type of grater that you used and the crayons were frozen before you grate them. Also what did you use brown cotton for? I see it mentioned in a post but couldn't find how you used it? Keep posting the pics, I'm following this thread with interest. Thanks. Steve. -

http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/13473-peco-asymmetric-3-way-turnout-sl-e199/ Not sure if this helps but I'm sure you can bond the rails as you say but you then have to switch the polarity to the frogs. Steve. -
Great to see the layout, enjoyed watching it and came away with a few ideas. Cheers. Steve.

Looks good, I really like the buildings. Who makes them? Steve.

Thanks Dave, good to meet you too, nice chatting and always inspired by your layouts and Friday Bridge is no exception. I'd agree with the above, it was the best show I've seen there. Really quality layouts and for me Templefields was great. I also enjoyed sheepcroft and a brief chat with Stu Davies. There was so many good layouts on show pity I couldn't have stayed longer. Here's some pics. Tonbridge West Yard Great Bardfield Lymebrook Yard Sheepcroft Templfields Tidworth Fenwick TMD Friday Bridge

wow! that is just stunning! Not at lot else to say really I'm gobsmacked by how real that looks! I'm loving the photo's even though they make me feel like packing it all in and finding a new hobby ;-) Great stuff Allan. Steve. -
The puddles were a bit of an experiment so I wasn't sure what to do with them. The've also sunk a bit so they need topping up! I was thinking of having a small collection of dumped barrels. Steve.

Fantastic stuff James. How did you acheive the marks where the plates were, that looks really convicing? Steve. -

Done the basic groundwork, just drybrush a few sleepers and some rust, ash and oil spills in various places then must get on with the buildings.
-
Started painting the groundwork with some household emulsion paints, I think I need to get some more colours, maybe more browns and a different grey. I think I should find a photo to try and copy as I'm just making it up. I'd like to know what people think. Steve.
