HI Mark
I for one am very grateful for the time you have taken to assist me with items for, and operating, Fisherton Sarum. I am very pleased that you and Daniel had a good weekend and your own modelling time for a change.

Hi,
Looks like dad will need a refresher course!
Simon
That shouldnt take too long the switches on the panel for the points have not changed. Its just the turntable that now has a rotary switch to select the road and a push button to start the table moving. Simples!

Stunning attention to detail as always Julia, and welcome to external blog world, I will follow it with interest.

Interesting stuff Mark, even for a dc luddite like myself. I look forward to being able to learn more from you with this concept

I really like locos from this era and always found this type intriguing, but not quite as elegant as Stroudleys examples of 0-4-2's (although by Southern days they had lost most of their elegance with Marsh modifications).
I'm still trying to complete my Lyons class 0-4-2, with help from a friend and shall post pics soon.
I look forward to seeing your pictures soon Matthew

Absolutely fantastic Graham - when are you taking orders for them? ;-)
Cheers,

I have enough of my own unbuilt kits to get through before I start building for others!

It was a pleasure to play trains Chris, thanks for letting me.

Indeed hence me phrasing it "more obvious variations"

A great set of Pictures Al, as Neil said an impressive bit of all round modelling from the weathting, the scenincs and the wonderful subtle backscene giving great depth and realism to the images. Even the two swans look very natural. The first shot of the 4F on the bridge and the 3/4 front view of the T9 which looks particually North Cornwall (esepcially with those headsignals) / edge of Dartmoor to me.

Hi Josh
The motor is a 7.5 deg step Unipolar 12VDC stepper motor from RS coupled to a 250/1 ovoid gearbox also from RS

Tim,
I consider Fisherton Sarum to be a layout, rather than a diorama which implies it is static.
I am not at the moment extending the running lines, but thgey are still just that, running lines, the additional controller and operation method will allow / simplify the main line running and also allow for more movements to occur simultainously hence the increased running.

Phil, well I know Geoff too so will come and say hello to him too if he is there!

Hi Jon
Yes it is quite small, the scenic section is only 8' x 3' and you are not the first whom has seen either an article about or pictures and been quite surprised when they either see it in context or in the flesh at a show to say the same thing.

It would as you say appear that they are not currently listed on the site, It may well be worth dropping Chris Knowls-Thomas their Sales Manager an email.

John
They will be the 1914 built 56 footers Diagram 14 and 414 versions with the wrought iron style gates.

Mike and Chris,
Was good to see you both on Satuday and glad that you had a warm welcome and a good time. I look forward to seeing you both again soon.

Hi Mark
Good to hear you can make it this year. I am afraid that a two day show is not an option for us as costs would riase too much. As for the date it is always the first Saturday of November and I can not see the Society changing that.
I look forward to seeing you there though.

Indeed C J Allen's book is already within my collection and provided the inspiration for the models in the first place.
-
As regards the extra details, I'd prefer it if they were sold as "extras" rather than included with the loco. That way the models themselves would be more affordable to people who wanted to buy them but didn't necessarily want (or could afford) the details. This would of course include the younger enthusiasts.
Which is partly what Hornby are doing with their market segment positioning of the RailRoad range

I would not go as far as to say poor quality, as I do appreciate the amount of work a "small team" noting that some teams are smaller that others, have to achieve to get the the magazine published each month. I also fully understand how some errors creep in such as typos or captions for photographs supplied in good faith get through the net. I am just highlighing that if something is going to be criticised then they should be able to substantiate the claim.

Hi Stu, either with or without the www works however I had missed the second m in the link which I have now corrected.

The backscene from Ron North of the High Wycombe and District MRS certainly looks the part he is a very talented man, although he makes out all he does is dawb a bit of paint. I am fortunate that the he also painted the backscene for me on Fisherton Sarum, which includes Salisbury Cathedral!
Julia, the layout is certainly continuing to look really magnificent, I am so glad the mojo has come back, your recent work has further lifted things to yet another even higher level. I can't wait to see this in the flesh once again.

That cinema coach look nice! and unique too. Looking forward to seeing them at Taunton Sunday
Thanks, see you Sunday

Hello Muz
I have long admired your Bulleid conversions (i.e. back to original build standard). I just hope that 'ere long the Men of Margate will similarly alter their tooling.

Hi Eric
yes the LSWR class designations were based on the works orders for the first batch of the class being built. As you say it can make things confusing!
