  1. Hello pixie, can I sak where you get your double ended coreless motors from for remotoring the diesels? All the best Guy
  2. Hi Chris, I hate to ask but have you been able to make any further progress on the M7? Thanks Guy
  3. Having used the quartering jig I wouldn't install wheels without it - its so much easier.....
  4. Hi, I am looking to gather information on godalming goods yard with a veiw to a potential layout. I have managed to get hold of a number of photos looking through Woking to Portsmouth by Middleton press and from the internet. I wondered where I would be best to turn to get hold of more information photos, drawings etc? Also what would have been the freight movements and loco classes applicable? I have one photo with a 5mt in the yard, surely the largest that would use it. The yard looks fairly farlorn in the photos I have so I imagine it was a little over sized for the traffic it received.
  5. I believe a number of people have used 2mm finescale standards with Narrow gauge models. You could either build to 9.42mm gauge and use the association gauges and jigs or build to 9mm gauge (as per FS160). I assume that you would want to use heavier section rail than code 40.
  6. Marvellous work Chris I shall definitely be buying one. Thanks for clarifying that the 0-4-2-2 configuration would be the better bet
  7. Chris, Could I ask what cad software you use to design your 3D print models. Is it Blender or something similar? Oh and if I could be a pain and ask when the M7 chassis might be available? Many thanks Guy
  8. Kent rail explains that it was the privatisation era under the transrail banner that they were introduced to the branch.
  9. Interesting, I will check on Kent rail. I certainly haven't seen a photo of a blue 56 on the branch so perhaps it was post sectorisation. I may have to invoke modeller's license.
  10. Thanks to everyone that has taken the time to respond. You are quite right that the photo I posted was quite a bit out of my period although I had expected wagon types would be similar. I had originally considered 1983 as it stretched into the introduction of the 58, however it obviously too a while for them to be used on the branch from their introduction on the network. Really its the br blue era I would like to focus on so I may back date it slightly to around 1981/2 or thereabouts. There is a nice variety of motive power on the branch as well as the ability to include 3rd rail slam door emus. We will have to see how this evolves as a project. Guy
  11. I have decided to model freight on the sheerness branch as I intend to model Queenborough station and the sidings to the south of it. The period would be 1983 or thereabouts to permit the introduction of a class 58. The main freight traffic would be steel trains from sheerness steel works some pick up goods from the sidings to the south of Queenborough coal trains from Swale (16T minerals?) I am keen to know what freight stock would have been used? Fitted or unfitted? I have seen photographs with a number of items of stock Class 56 - courtesy of train http://www.train-photos.co.uk/ Thanks Guy
  12. Hi Chris, I was wondering if you had any update on when the m7 etch might be released? Thanks Guy PS - I have one of the jinty chassis and having a jig to ensure square alignment is a very good idea.
  13. I quite agree Gareth complementing you doesn't sit very well with me either. I promise I will get back to picking apart any of you future endeavors at the June meeting Guy PS: Don't think I've mentioned this before but I think it would look a lot better with 2mm wheels
  14. Top work gareth - it runs very well especially considering it has pick up from 2 axles only. Are you going to enter it in the n gauge society competitions - it would win hands down. Guy
  15. Tah Gareth, Richard seemed impressed with it and I think it would be a good group exercise for the next meeting. I don't know how well it will carry over to 1:152 when the etch is reduced - I would like to keep the detail from the multiple etches as its a rather nice design. Just needs a nice coat of dulux to hide all of that detail Now back to your thread... no more hijacking Guy
  16. What a good idea I think you should go 2mm, all you would have to do is rebuild your room full of locos and stock and rip up and relay your layout - simples! I expect it all to be completed for the next meeting. I in the meantime will cut out some frames. I know your pretty committed to N - won't someone within the 2mm community turn you some n gauge rims for 2mm wheel centres - almost like a charitable gesture. The chopper Is closer to 1/100 (at 160% 2mm), but yes the larger one it will be of great use on my LBSCR branchline. Its one of the rare all chrome choppers.
  17. Meooooow! I would be grateful for any help I can get Gareth - I have however made one of Richards Choppers in the last month so forgive me if I feel a little bit smug Are you going to add some pick ups to the front wheels? Guy
  18. Not bad Gareth, not bad at all. Have you though about entering them in competitions? I think the N gauge society runs some. Guy (Wealden 2mm)
  19. Can't wait to see it finished - keep up the good work
  20. Thats exactly what I use and found it to be very effective. In addition after cleaning off any solder from my 2mm trackwork, I polished it with brasso on a balsa square to remove any scratches. This hopefully keeps it crud free for longer. Guy
  21. Its a lovely bit of work Nigel - I am so glad that Farish have standardized on split frame chassis now, they are such an improvement. Could I ask whether you will be doing a replacement etch for the valve gear and pony trucks? Thanks Guy
  22. Great work Julia. Dare I ask what the conversion components are and how have you solved the issue of farish chassis bearing slop? I assume it uses etched rods and association wheels. Regards Guy
  23. Thats certainly spruced it up nicely. How great it must be to have a laser cutter at your office!
  24. Hi Nigel, This certainly looks like a very promising route for an easier finescale conversion. With regards to your bearings, have you turned off the bearing flange in order to recess the association bearing? Guy
