  1. You'd still need to have strength in the mounting of the box to the bogie or chassis, plus there's the room and gear issue. (its either a co-co or a 1-bo bo-1), sorry.

    cheers

  2. Hi Steven,

The theory works, that's not necessarily the problem, it's peoples perception of it not being a co-co with all wheel power that's probably the sticking point. luckily no ones come up with a reason not to do it this way....................yet :jester:

  3. Here's a question for you all.

I don't like the way the coupling box protrudes forward of the buffer beam.

there is an option which I should like to put to you. Namely to remove the front axle gear and have the loco a 1-BOBO-1

this way the coupling box can be pushed back and not be obtrusive.

the loco will max out at 125-150g so should still pull a load, the non powered axle will be pin point and still collect.

thoughts please before I ask for it to happen.

    cheers

  5. Hi Darren,

This is old school moulding that allows for the printing / painting process to follow the raised ridge of plastic. In this case the small yellow warning panel.

It was also used on their early 37 & 47 and probably more.

As printing etc has improved the need for these guide lines has all but disappeared. Thank heavens. :-)

    Cheers

  6. Hi Keith,

Without specifics I cannot clarify too much, but Kevin, our sales manager has gone though the current orders and found that out of our 3 stockists in Kent, only 1 stockist has not had their product as that particular shop only ordered 1 item and it didn't make minimum order for carriage paid, and has a standing instruction that if orders don't make minimum shipping (for carriage paid) then whatever it is, is to be held until minimum is reached with further orders.

Now, this isn't to say your stockists still hasn't had their ordered model due to Dapol failure, as they may not have an account with Dapol, preferring to go through a 'cash and carry' if you like for the toy/model trade. In this case I cannot clarify any further as we only deal with the 'C&C' not the end stockist.

Please feel to PM me with details and I might be able to help further if you want.

    cheers

    Dave

  7. Had preordered Western Legionaire with my local shop in Ipswich, a Dapol stockist, though much reduced following move to new premises. Last Saturday checked with them as mail order firms showing stock had arrived and was concerned with Dapol's message of all manufactured stock distributed and found they had not received any and had received no advice from Dapol. Follow up enquiries on Monday and Tuesday led to advice from Dapol that they were not allocated any. According to my dealer, a regular problem as (they say) the Dapol internet ordering seems to lead to back orders dropping off. This seems to have been repeated again as they didn't receive stock of the MRA blue/grey wagons this week without re-ordering, those were still in stock. I obtained the last one at Kernow models on Wednesday evening, despatched Thursday morning and received Friday morning - brilliant service, but disappointed I couldn't use my local shop who has a number of Dapol pre-orders from me for future releases. As others have said, a brilliant model, but not looking forward to adding the lifting eyes, having fitted Western Sovereign and needed an extra etch from DC Supplies due to 4 pinging into the etched brass ether.

    Hi Rembrow,

I noticed your negative feedback (using the icons button) to my mail to Richard here and have PM'd you.

If you'd like to let me know privately who the stockist is I can, come Tuesday, and given my mails regarding stockists etc here, let you know the exact situation.

Oh and by the way there is no Dapol Internet ordering system, it's done by mailing their order form in or ringing Kevin direct. (And that's for all shops)

    Cheers

    Dave

  8. Hi Richard,

    No worries.

I doubt we'll ever get to the bottom of what was causing the problem for you and I know it was frustrating as I'd have been pulling my hair out if it were me.

    Cheers

  9. Hi everyone,

With regards to wobbly wezzies, China will be shipping some wheel sets over to me around the middle of next week.

These are apparently being fastidiously checked over and include the brass bearings too as I found a few 22's from the original batch with the hole slightly off centre.

Once they are here ill let you know here, and I'll ship them to DCC supplies.

Any one with a dodgy model can ring them for an axle or 3, or if you don't fancy doing it yourself, arrange for a free return to DCC supplies for them to do it for you.

    Cheers

  10. Awwww Richard,

2500 sold now and only 12 returned to DCC supplies, of which 9 were fixed totally.

Now there may be some 'in the system' somewhere, but in all honesty, I doubt it given the almost instant repair/replace.

Sorry mate but you made your mind up that you didn't want one as despite what I offered you still decided this wasn't good enough for you. I think your bordering on trolling now to be honest.

You don't like it, your tarring 2500 models with the same brush, and probably enjoying doing so or you wouldn't be here...........again!

There is nothing I can offer you that you either listen to or accept, I have failed and I'm sorry.

  11. Hi Coppercap,

No idea what happened to your model and you have my apologies.

Give DCC supplies a ring as some spares are 'off book' as it were and kept for such eventualities.

Let me know how you get on.

    Cheers

  12. Seems strange if there is limited production capacity to release the FYF in maroon pristine finish when it seems there is much more demand for maroon SYF and blue. SYF maroon is always going to be the big seller I would think.

Normally I would agree with you, but in this case the trade disagree with us both. :locomotive:  :jester:

  13.  Hi Dave, can you give any more info on these two Westerns, product code etc.

sorry not sure I understand with the OP message included. can you clarify for me please?

  14. Hi guys,

As promised here is my synopsis regarding the problems Ian has been having with getting hold of Dapol models and the current situation regarding Western Deliveries

    .......

Ian PM'd me off list a list of 3 stockists who he attempted to get models from over the last  couple of years with no joy. (not necessarily Western Related)

    Out of prudency I will not name name's but here is the basic answers I gave Ian to his list of 3;

    1) This stockist was supplied in full and subsequently sold his mail order customer orders to new turn up and buy customers at a show, then proceeded to come to Dapol for more stock to fill his mail orders (we had none)

    2) Ditto the second stockist, but we have no record of being approached to re-supply with more stock and so didn't.

    3) This stockist falls into the "Have ordered & are in good standing" category, as they have ordered.

    For completeness, and not naming names again, the current supply situation is this, and this is correct as of 09.47 this morning;

2 x orders will be going out today (they missed Friday), and apart from the stockist in point 3 above, another 13 stockists fall into the  "Have ordered & are in good standing" category, where they have ordered.

I hope this helps clear things up.

    cheers

    Dave

  15. Hi Ian,

Your saying that you've ordered 3 Dapol models from 3 different stockists and didn't get 1 model?

Can you clarify for me please?

    Cheers

    Dave

  16. Thank you for your transparency but  regrettably it does not help enthusiasts who have ordered in good faith from their tried and trusted retailer only to be disappointed. We are becoming too accustomed to this from experiences with Hornby......well documented elsewhere on this forum. If the model weren't so damned good, then it wouldn't matter. I already have two....with the third on its way. I know.......it's a learning curve.

    Hi Ian,

A bit too early to jump in with that I. Think.

We had orders for 508, and had 500 made (interestingly that not a bad ratio regarding making what we can sell, I'm sure you'll agree).

    ..........

Comparing Dapol supply to Hornby recent supply in this until the matter is figured out and reported back here on Monday is a tad premature.

Can I ask you an honest question?

What 'if' just 'if' and not saying they have, your trusted supplier is incorrect? What then?

    Cheers

  17. Hi Ian and Darren,

Just popped by to clarify and try and explain our position on the Western if I can?

When we decided upon the amount of models we made we chose 500 (total made) of each deco. Basically knowing that our competitor was going to produce a batch made us err on the cautious as we didn't want to flood the market with too many.

This would have the effect of pretty much ruining the market for a couple of years.

Combined with the limited Kernow, Lord and Butler, Steam and WLA models there is still a heck of a lot of product going to be available in the next 4-6 weeks.

Sales in OO are still a learning curve for us and the last thing we need to do is spend so much only to see, like other manufacturers are doing, our new items still in stock at the factory and being remaindered to clear less than a year after release, and in some cases months after release.

We wont ever release details of the amount of models made before hand as this is always subject to change and commercial material i'm afraid. This will be made public of course if the models are limited editions.

Unfortunately we cannot do anything about the e-bayer's who do this, and it is not nice if you cannot get your model, but I cannot see a way round it except to take the financial risk of over producing so everyone gets a model but we might get stuck with stock.

It may be that dispatch didn't get the last of the models out until Friday, in which case its debatable whether those stockists would have got their model for today (more likely Monday and this wouldn't have been done on purpose, just workload i'm afraid) Like I said, I cannot clarify any further what has happened until Monday but rest assured I will.

I'm not sure it does, but I hope this helps if only a bit.

    cheers

  18. Hi,

As far as I am aware, ( sorry only just picked this posting up as I've been out all afternoon) all 498 models of this livery have gone out.

I know there are no more than 498 maroon SYWP produced in this batch, and i believe there is no second half batch still to arrive at Dapol. They all came in in one batch.

Now, this isn't to say that dispatch may not have been able to send the full amount in the time they had this week, but I don't see any logic in not sending models when they are there to be sent, and only sending 50% of the models ordered.

I personally imagine (and I know for a fact we were oversold by 7 models) that perhaps if 498 models have gone out, then there is a problem with A) the original order or B ) not enough were ordered.

However I'm not saying that anyone is telling fibs here, but until Monday when I can find out, all eventualities must be possible until they can be discounted.

I know 1 store won't have had any for 'certain' reasons and they do have them on order (not any of those named).

Bare with me please, I'll get answers on Monday, but prepare a plan B if you can.

    Cheers

    Dave
