  1. 70803 awaits the call forward into the Ribble Rail exchange sidings just before 8am on a very dull and grey 25 November 2020.
  2. Four new Colas 70's seen at Seaforth this morning, presumably unloaded from the Atlantic Conveyor which was docked there.
  3. Always good to see photos of my old stomping ground on the Syston and Peterborough, albeit three years before my interest started. Incidentally i've just happened across some photos of Melton Mowbray c.1980. I just need access to a scanner....
  4. Yes, I think you're right there. Just found an old newspaper article which suggests it was incoming timber from Lowestoft. http://www.meltontimes.co.uk/news/transport/life-and-times-of-melton-station-1-6556494Incidentally, I well remember watching offal for Petfoods being unloaded in the yard in the mid to late 70's. It had originated from Denmark if my memory serves me right.
  5. Maybe the finished timber originated from the Boulton and Paul factory that was close to the old North station.
  6. Fantastic to see pictures of the SMR. They brought back some very happy memories. I got involved there from the year after your pics were taken until it's closure to the public in 1982, and as a founding member of the FSMR that look after it so well now. Sadly my move to the north west prevented a continuing involvement.
  7. It appears to be coming off at Warrington now - it's just gone past mine in Wigan! Nice pic by the way. It caught me unawares as I wasn't expecting 60087 to still be on. I'll be watching for it coming back light though...
  8. It's straight back to Carlisle today, and presumably the same tomorrow. I tried to include a link to RTT, but couldn't get it to work!
