  1. Hi Dave Any plans to produce a Caledonian 0-6-0? Some of these lasted into BR days in the early 1960s, so could be produced in Caley, LMS and BR liveries. A couple of BR liveried 0-6-0s would find a home on my planned South West Scotland 1960s layout! Cheers Dave
  2. I do like the model of No.24 on Kirkmellington, and I was on the footplate of the real one on many occasions, but old No.17 was my favourite!
  3. I seem to recall that on the NCB Waterside system in Ayrshire, the pugs there had plates on the cabside authorising them to run on the BR tracks within the exchange loops and sidings. There was no danger of the NCB locos entering the BR main line to Ayr as this was protected by a set of locked points. Also the BR locos only used the BR loops and sidings, never entering the NCB part of the system. Hope this helps
  4. I can't wait for my Barclays to arrive, especially NCB Ayrshire Area No. 10, which I was on the footplate many times in NCB days in the 1970s. (My father worked for the NCB at Waterside, Dunaskin.) There were 6 locos that I recall from those days. Numbers 10,19,21 and then No.1 which arrived in 1976 were the 0-4-0s and Numbers 17 & 24 were the 0-6-0 side tank locos. Sadly steam working at Waterside came to an end in 1978 with the closure of Pennyvenie Colliery. I'd love a model of No.17 which was my favourite Waterside loco. Any future plans to produce a Big Barclay?
  5. As I model South West Scotland in the late 50s/early 60s I'm wishing for in oo gauge; Ex Caledonian 0-6-0 jumbo BR Standard Class 3 2-6-0 Ex WD 2-10-0 I know they are all available as kits but it would save so much time if they were available RTR. Come on, Bachmann (or any manufacturer), surprise me in 2018!
  6. I must admit it would be great if somebody would produce a Caley 0-6-0 as I model South West Scotland around 1960 and, as well as the 4 locos mentioned, there were a lot of ex-Caley 0-6-0s around. And the BR Standard 3 2-6-0 but no RTR model of that either!
  7. Maybe a bit cheeky but perhaps a big Barclay 0-6-0 along the lines of Dalmellington Iron Company Number 17 next? Maybe a bit cheeky but perhaps a big Barclay 0-6-0 along the lines of Dalmellington Iron Company Number 17 next?
  8. just a suggestion for a possible new product. In the early 1960s British Railways Scottish region restored four steam locomotives to their pre-grouping liveries and used them for railtours and enthusiasts specials. Would any manufacturer be up for producing a boxed presentation set containing all 4 locos?
  9. My era is BR blue and also British Railways steam but I have to say this model railway is fantastic! Just the way it looks inspires me to aim for this sort of standard when I get started building my layout.
  10. I'did love to see an ex-Caledonian Railway 0-6-0 tender engine such as a Jumbo. Some of these lasted till the early sixties in South-West Scotland.
  11. Scottish region totems

  12. Scottish region totems, how long did they last?

  13. Did Scottish Region totems last into the late 70'summer or were they all removed in the rebounding?

  15. I'd really like "Book Law" in BR late crest livery as I believe it was one of the locos used on the "Thames Clyde" express during 1960. I am planning a layout based on the G&SWR main line which had an amazing variety of motive power towards the end of steam. I have "Coronach" which worked the Waverley route but it could have been "borrowed" for a trip to St Enoch.......!?
  16. Could a Standard 3 2-6-0 be produced fairly easily using the Standard 4 2-6-0 chassis. Only 20 standard 3s were built but they were used in the South of Scotland and NE England which might be too limited an area of interest for them to be of use to the wider modelling fraternity. Would this limit the chances of it ever being produced?
  17. It would be really good if Heljan were to produce another batch of Class 21st in TOPS blue livery! Should say Class 27s Should say Class 27s
  18. Any chance of a Barclay 0-6-0T pre-first world war model? Something like the Dalmellington Iron Company number 17?
  19. Just visited shop today. Great service and good conversion. Will definitely be paying a lot more visits!
  20. My dad used to work at the NCB washer at Waterside in Ayrshire. During the 1970's I would cycle down to see him at his weighbridge office in the school holidays. As well as the NCB's "pugs" I used to love watching the class 20,25,26,27 & 40 locos in BR blue. I was also privileged to get cab rides to the exchange sidings on each of these classes. I also have fond memories of being allowed to drive some of the pugs. Happy days! That's why I love the BR blue era. My dad used to work at the NCB washer at Waterside in Ayrshire. 21. I used to live in Dalmellington near Ayr and I loved nothing better than getting a Mancini's ice cream at Newton-on-Ayr, driving down to the Newton shore, and watching the goings-on at Falkland Yard. As an aside, my father was an NCB Dispatch Clerk at Waterside on the Ayr-Dalmellington branch and, in the 30 or so years he worked there, must have sent a good few thousand tons of coal down to Ayr Harbour! Look forward to seeing the progress on this layout!
  22. I live just about a mile away from Arcadia. Not been in for a while due to a lack of modelling funds as I am doing quite a bit of work on my house. Must scrape a bit of cash together and pop in again!
  23. Any information on the consist for the year 1960? Was this around the time when ex-LNER Pacifics were used on the train? Otherwise would it have been Brittanias and Royal Scots?
