  1. When they tested an Ivatt 2-6-2T on the Lyme Regis branch, it appeared to run with either a BR or ex-LNER van from the pictures I've seen.
  2. And here was me thinking that this thread was going to be about sound for a pannier tank....
  3. Wouldnt that make it difficult to do the sensible thing and extend the double track secction into Templecombe station?
  4. I dont think I'm alone, and I wish Kernow well, and hope they have considered that by staggering the releases of complimentary items such as these (O2 and Gate stock), they can ensure the maximum take up of both.
  5. I dont want this to turn into the "4 Yorkshiremen" sketch, but I dont buy a pint of beer or cider each week...
  6. Sorry I wasnt terribly clear - I meant it coming out at the same time as the O2. I cant afford THAT and the coaches at the same time.
  7. My only worry is when these coaches will come out. I want both, but cant afford both at once (maybe not even one in one month and the other the following month). Finances are just too tight at the moment, and I cant see it improving in the next 12 months.

    Dapol Class 22

I'm sorry Mod6, but it was first suggested that I had "confused" them with class 29s. I think that was uncalled for too. I'll draw a line under this discussion, but I think its unfortunate that it had developed the way it did.

    Dapol Class 22

I dont doubt what you say, but I have yet to see any proof. As I posted above, I have found a photo which shows the effect you describe, but not on a loco which appears to have no yellow above the windscreen in other pictures. Its all very well saying that theres all this evidence and experts etc, etc., but I havnt seen it. I at least have been able to post links showing the effect I describe.

OK, I consider it might be a possibility - I have found a photo which shows the effect more clearly http://www.flickr.com/photos/24292321@N02/2366710181/ Also shows the different fonts on Rail Blue examples....

    Dapol Class 22

Glad I'm not imagining it! I've now been squinting at so many pictures of 22s I was beginning to wonder!

    Dapol Class 22

I agree that the film stock - particularly colour film, doesnt have the clarity that more modern stuff has. From a modellers point of view, I'd like a model that looks like how it appears in those photos, and I doubt that a "weathered" version would replicate the dirt in that way - it would be more accurate to treat it as a livery variation.

    Dapol Class 22

I'd disagree. The area of the roof above the windows on D6343, for instance is the same colour all the way back to the rear of the cab door. The livery in http://www.flickr.co...cwp/2574048258/ is actually different with regards to the yellow end compared to http://www.flickr.co...57603653181775/ in a way that "dirt" cant cover. I mean, dirt isnt normally so tidy as to just cover those parts of the front of a loco so completely.

    Dapol Class 22

Definitely 22s - unless the NBL Diesel Electrics managed to wonder around the Devon branches? http://www.flickr.com/photos/robertcwp/2574048258/ http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/1150-Dapol-class-22/page__st__125__p__282992&do=findComment&comment=282992 http://www.railblue.com/pages/Class%2022/D6343_LA_080871.htm

    Dapol Class 22

Looking through all the pictures of the real thing, I noticed there seemed to be 2 versions of Blue Full Yellow End - one which had just the nose painted and another with the yellow carrying up around the windows. Am I right in saying Dapol are only doing the second type??
  16. Did I miss the announcement of these? This sounds excellent, and even the RTR price is highly competitive. What refurbs have been done to the tooling?
  17. Jim, you've got a great layout there - full of atmosphere and some good cameo scenes too. I'm envious, at least you've managed to build a layout! Please let us have some mroe details on your thread.
  18. Is it me, or does Hooters sound like it might be a little "risque" ?
  19. In terms of F1, you pay the BBC £145 for 12 months worth of F1 and everything else. Which gets you 3 months of Sky Sports HD. Which is the better value for money?
  20. Doesnt the absence of Midford Ground Frame B on the south side of the viaduct limit this to 1960 or later? Could add a bit more interest if it was included.
  21. The problem with local authorities is that they are very risk averse. This is because of the added political dimension. If a minor accident occurred at a privately run playground, for example, no one would blink an eyelid. But if a kid cuts his knee on a council run playground - everyone from the local MP, the councillors, the local paper, the local community group, the mums support network etc will have an opinion and want everyone to know about it.
  22. Moretonhampstead was always a marginal closure in any case - I beleive David St. John Thomas made a good case for retaining it (and the Helston branch).
  23. Some wonderful and fascinating images there, Arthur. But no prices!? Or is it a case of "if you have to ask, you cant afford it!"
  24. I dont think it will be an "international" station, as that has to include customs, seperation of doemstic and international passengers etc. For instant the Heathrow station wont be international (even though doing so makes sense from the point of view of atracting air transfer passengers).
  25. I think that one point Iain made about his Bringewood coupler was that it was compatible with tension locks - so if you were gradually converting your stock, you didnt have to do it it all in one go.
