  1. Aren't these due for delivery shortly?
  2. Ah no sorry SEDF, I don't remember my source at Grain saying... As others have said though, think the extra trains are for Heathrow. Didn't some dodgy types tap into the pipeline a couple of years ago and pinch hundreds of thousands of litres of the stuff?
  3. Thanks Mike it was those two smaller arc furnaces I meant. That'll teach me to not post in the small hours when I should have been asleep. Bloomin restless legs
  4. The blast furnaces at Sheerness Steel collapsed internally when they were shut down and are now beyond use.
  5. 3 extra trains per night when fully up and running. Empty wagons in to Grain during the day, full ones out at night. Every day.
  6. What a well thought out, and packaged, range of releases of interesting prototypes. I don't model Irish railways, or even know much about them, but I can discern quality when I see it, in the design stage. Those 42ft flats look.........tempting. This bodes very well for the future planned British range of models. I wish you every success. With less than a year from announcement to planned release date, isn't this what other manufacturers could aspire to?
  7. Hello all. Rather than a BBA, which exists as a decent Cambrian kit and possible Dapol future RTR, can I suggest the IHA covered bogie steel coil carriers. There are several different diagrams in use presently the Shimmns and Sfhimmns seem common in a variety of albeit very dirty liveries. Block trains mixed in with BYA wagons and shortish 6 wagon trains by themselves. I recently bought a Roco HO scale one, which looks odd next to a Bachmann BYA
  8. Hello Alex and Cav Congrats on your excellent first project I'm sure it will be a great success. For the future can I suggest an MLA / IEA, simple(?) infrastructure box wagons that can be bought in multiples in Network Rail or EWS livery, or the PTA / JUA to replace the ancient Limby effort that has had its day. Cambrian already make a BBA, which makes up really well, I would have thought it might be best to avoid duplicating existing relatively modern RTR or kits.
  9. Cheers Grahame I was a member of DEMU about 20 years ago, it's probably time to re-join, after a break away from the hobby, as you suggest. I would still like to be part of a large modern image club layout though...
  10. Ah no. Further research has found that the IEA is 3 metres or so longer than an IEA.
  11. As the title says would this give an accurate model? I'm thinking cut the body off flush with the floor, reduce height of sides from the bottom, glue body back on. Sort of a mini version of MBA's into MCA's, or MEA - MFA.
  12. East Grinstead is my nearest club, but I don't think they have a modern image leaning. Which club are you in?
  13. Thanks all. Top tip above. I filled the wagons up with hand hot tap water for 10 minutes and that softened the glue sufficiently to be able to carefully scrape all the ballast out with an old instrument screwdriver. No damage done well chuffed.
  14. Thanks to Apollo and 34tlb&d above, I'll give the warm water a go.
  15. Thanks for the reply. I had thought about that, their Loftus Road is exactly my type of thing, its just a bit far for club evenings from where I am.
  16. Hello all Ive recently bought 4 Dapol IOA wagons from Ebay for a good price which the previous owner had fitted ballast loads to. Having had some time with them I've decided that I'd like to redo the loads so that they match the other wagons I have. The ballast, which looks too large to me, seems to be very well glued in, probably with pva or something like that. It has so far defeated my attempts to remove it with the usual mechanical methods. Is anybody aware of a way of "dissolving" or softening the glue without causing damage to the plastic body? Thanks in advance
  17. Hello all Is there a modern image minded club/society in the South East, specifically in a reasonable commuting distance from the Kent/Sussex/Surrey border area?
  18. Far too sensible idea, it'll never work. But I'd like a couple of 'em
  19. That also made Mrs KDG laugh too. Damn, I now can't use that......
  20. Agree. Pullman umber is not the same as Northern Belle crimson(?) But.....now that Northern Belle have new owners.......
  21. Sorry I missed the deadline for the survey. Some ideas for OO scale MLA wagon in EWS or Network Rail Shimmns bogie steel carrier PTA/JUA (Lima version had it's day) Harsco rail grinder Plasser tamper. Good luck with your new ventures
  22. I'd prefer wheels included in the kit too. I bought a couple of Turbots and a Borail at the Longfield show last week. Couldn't find any wheels of the correct size / style at the show, so now have to source separately. Not the end of the world obviously just a minor faff. Edited for predictive text smelling pistake
  23. Hi Ben No it's not Pullman umber. Try a mix of GWR freight stock brown and BR coach crimson, you'd have to experiment with the proportions though. Hope that helps
  24. Thanks Richard very helpful.
  25. These are going to be impressive. Looking great so far Dave.
