  5. A lot of people may not know what you mean by "Xeroid". Is it someone who worked for Xerox or Rank Xerox.perhaps?
  6. It's been posted before I believe, but a NEW Bachmann slightly weathered class 66 for £75 IS a bargain. OK it hasn't got a cardboard sleeve. Big deal!!! Got one at the Great Electric Train Show in Milton Keynes and it runs as smooth as silk. http://www.kernowmodelrailcentre.com/p/59810/32-976Z-Bachmann-Class-66-Diesel-Locomotive-SOILED-BOX

  10. Thank's for your input guy's. I think I'll go for MrSoundGuys Zimo DP2 project, especially as I've seen/heard what it's like on YouTube. As regards speakers I think either a double Zimo speaker or a single Zimo & base reflex speaker in parallel.
  11. I intend to fit sound to my Heljan DP2,but can't decide which sound scheme or speakers! I've narrowed my options to these :- Sound schemes (A)Digitrains class 50 - Well respected purvayor of sound schemes done by Paul Chetter, with 28 functions, many of which I'd never use. Probably the most realistic class 50 sound. http://www.digitrains.co.uk/ecommerce/search/zs50asl-class-50-active-speedlock-zimo.aspx (B)YouChoos class 50 - This scheme has possibly the most usable class 50 sounds, but the demo of the class 50 is lacking in clarity. It has 6 horn functions & station announcement included in the 28 functions! http://www.youchoos.co.uk/Index-Shop.php?L1=Project&Item=Class50 ©MrSoundguy DP2 - The YouTube video's sound good, but different to the other class 50 sounds I've heard. It sounds a bit like a cross between a class 40 & class 50, but I like it, bearing in mind the 50 & DP2 had different turbo's, if I'm not mistaken. This scheme has 14 functions. http://www.mrsoundguy.co.uk/msgddp2.html Finally,I fancy 2 Zimo speakers for it ala SLW class 24. If it's good enough for SLW, it's good enough for me! I'd appreciate any opinions or personal experience/ advice on this before I tear all of the hair I have left out.
  12. I got a weathered version of this last year but have not fitted a decoder yet. Thanks for the heads up on decoder problems, which can be found with the link below for any one interested. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/92448-class-27-dcc-problems/?hl=%2Bheljan+%2Bclass+%2B26+%2Bdecoder+%2Bproblems
  13. YouChoos have Zimo MX634D 21Pin decoders for £20 which are being sold elsewhere for £34. http://www.youchoos.co.uk/Index-Shop.php?L1=Decoders
  14. Thanks Paul. With the price being £20 instead of £34,I thought there may be a problem with them or is it just a bargain?
  15. I've just bought a Zimo MX634D 21 pin decoder from Youchoos for £20,which is about £14 cheaper than elsewhere! Has anyone got any opinions or experience of these?

  17. You don't specify which suburban coaches, but according to Britains Model Trains annual 2018, only the Mk1 non gangwayed coaches don't have NEM pockets of the coaches they've reviewed. Most, if not all Hornby ones do. Hope that helps you.
  18. Rail room electronics & dcc concepts do them, but if you google "alignment dowels", there are others. https://www.railroomelectronics.co.uk/Baseboard-Construction/Alignment-Dowels/Product-80027.aspx https://www.dccconcepts.com/product-category/track-and-track-making-parts/baseboard-alignment-dowels/
