  1. Hey mate, yeah. 289 looks just like the pictures, you've done a great job mate. Really impressed. I'll defo have some more stuff for you to do. Thank you very much. Do you know if you'll be down at warley tomorrow....
  2. Hey mate, I'll get my pictures up soon. Thanks as always.
  3. Hey sdw, Thanks for that, exactly what I was after. Dave
  4. Hey Neil, How's it going. I got a question. I'm looking for some high intensity light surrounds, not the lights themself just the square socket, I got a couple of 47s that need updating. I'm struggling to find a supplier that sells them. Do you know we're to get any. If it's okay with you and if your about I was thinking of coming up again next week. I'll give you a text about the day. Regards, Dave.
  5. Hello Simon, From Stoke, ahh well can't all be perfect I guess......I'm only joking. I've been watch a series about railfrieght movements called "rail freight today" it's a dvd box set, from Amazon. I think you'd find it useful especially the disk about the midlands movements, that said the whole series is pretty interesting as its set in about the same time period your modelling give a year or two. I recommend it fully, but I have to say it's a bit heart breaking to watch and listen too with the dialog, it's so optimistic at times as its pre channel tunnel and preprivatization, but you know what's coming and the out come. It's like the Titanic story, you know the ending but still wish for a different ending all the same. I appreciate the offer to come down, if you do set up another meet up I'd be up for that, just let me know. I met Neil the other day, great guy and great layout, if your ever that way pop in, you'll love it. I wish you the best of luck with being a counsillor, I hope you get to make a difference. Dave.
  6. Hello, Another great layout, love the pics, a bit of diesel smog and you'd think they were real. Great work and have enjoyed catching up. Dave.
  7. Hey Neil, That last pic looks real, I thought you'd put it up as a comparison at first. Dave.
  8. Hey guys, What a brilliant night. A very big thanks to Neil and Kenny for allowing me to visit and making me feel very welcome. Made some friends last night and hopefully it will be recurring visits (misses and work permitting) Took some photos of the visit, The fleet, (all locos are Bachmann) enjoy....... Point to note, 37107 is Neil's,
  9. Hello Peter, Although I don't personally know you, I'd like to say I'm sorry to read of your wife's illness and I wish you all best of look for the future. Sorry for not getting back to you sooner, your right about the 47s being a minefield when it comes to remunbering and detailing, so many variables to look for, I with the help of (Blatant plug here) www.class47.co.uk spend ages looking for just the right one to model, it can get s bit tedious, but it's all worth it when I get it back and it looks the part. I've started to put up pictures (another blatant plug, sorry) in my gallery of my loco fleet. I'll get round to putting my 47s on but with so many it's gonna be few long nights adjusting the pics to put up. Anyway enough of me, keep up the great work and I hope all goes well for you n family. Dave.
  10. Hello, I may just take you up on that, I'm up in the Midlands visiting for a couple of weeks next week, a day up to the Wirral isn't that far away. I'll bring Grainflow for you to take a look at. It would be good to get some running time on it. Appreciate the offer, if you really don't mind that is. It would be good to meet like minded people and get some advice face to face. I was part of a MRC but it wasn't what I expected, most if not all but one weren't interested in modern image stuff, they were mainly All about steam, not my choose of era to be fair, the club layout was a reflection of this, they were and still are great guys but just the Wrong time line for me. So I'm looking to talk to or meet up with people who share the same kind of mindedness when it comes to Modelling, so far these forums are brilliant and I'm finding more and more forums and people every day. As before keep up the great work and hopefully we may meet at your club one day soon. Dave
  11. Hello, bescotbeast, Have to say first of all, love the work you created so far, perfect time line and place as well, best time on our railways the mid to late 80s (just my opinion) and great place to model as the midlands was pretty much at the centre of it all, regards traffic movement. So plenty of formations to play around with. I will be following your updates from now on. Second thing, having lived in the same town as Bescot for most of my life, (up until about 9 years ago) I'm now down south, I am only assuming so apologies if your not but im guessing you were a local lad as well, Walsall/Sandwell/West Brom. Basically a Black Country boy.
  12. Hello Class"66", Thanks for your comments on my 37. The model is really nice, as good as you'd expect really from Bachmann. My only let down was the fact they didn't supply a separate name plate for the money spent, but it doesn't really detract from how nice it is. Iv been catching up on your layout the last few days, Love it mate, it's coming along really nice. its great to see how it all started to what it is today, makes me want to bring some of my fleet up and play trains (sign of a good looking layout) I like your selection of 37s and if I read right you have about 43, thats brilliant, I only have about 15, some have been renumbered weathered etc and i am always on the look out for more. I do like 37s. I'll eventually get round to putting up some more pictures. I do have a lot of 47s, about 33 on my last count and climbing, I think they were a brilliant loco iv tried to go for no name locos when getting them renumbered, but I do have a lot of the limited editions as well. My favourite time period on the railways is mid 70s to pre-privatisation, with late 80s being probably the best time with all the colour schemes, sectors and classes cutting shapes on our railways. Good times. Keep up the great work and ill be following with interest. Dave.
  13. I have a feeling that some big dealers on eBay have second or third accounts as iv bid on similar items and lost out to the same buyers on several occasions only to see the same items back on a week or two later at a much higher price by one of the big dealers.
  14. Hello P.C.M. This is my first ever post on here, so please bear with if i ramble. Its taken me over a week so far to get through your forum and I'm still only on page 112. Would like to say your layout is awesome, and i will defiantly (if you don't mind) use it as a point of refeance along with your work bench forum for ideas/inspiration when i do eventually get round to starting my own self built layout. I also have a thing about Class 47s and currently have about 30, give or take, all Bachmann. I have most of the limited editions but also have a fair number that have been repainted, renumbered and weathered by a gentleman from south wales, (I'm not confidant enough to butcher my models just yet) If you like I can put up a couple of pictures just to show you some of them, I have a few blues as well. I haven't got the technical detailing skills yet that you seem to posses, but I have tried to detail one or two as a test and seem to have done okay. Iv gone for western region based 47s along with some freight dedicated locos of Tinsely, but I'm still quite new to it all and still in the researching phase so I'm probably not as accurate as most on here seem to be yet with detailing, locations etc. But thats the beauty of this hobby, its an enjoyable learning curve and one I'm happy to pick up. I shall continue reading your threads after this, and hopefully be fully caught up in the next few days. Dave.
