  1. Hi Richard Nice 'work station'. I decant my flux into one of those individual jam/ sauce jars that you get in some restaurants or tea rooms. They are not prone to tip over very easily and any 'bits' that fall in off the brush only contaminate a small amount of flux. Regards, Deano.
  2. Hi Grasshopper John, I hope you're going to do a build thread on the Stanier, because I have one also! It'll be a while before I get round to mine though!! Regards, Deano.
  3. Double Yummy!! I have a soft spot for the big tanks and would really like one of these!! One day? Regards, Deano.
  4. As the great Tommy Cooper always said, "Just like that!!" Regards, Deano.
  5. Hi Ken Many thanks for the information! Every little tip is useful, and the one thing I've learnt over the years is that you never stop learning! Soldering can be a minefield and I've noticed from many threads touching the subject, that it can be a very 'personal' subject. I generally use Carrs yellow and red, pretty much the same as you, with 179 and 145 deg, (Yellow in place of MBO Z60) but I've experimented with the Laco from WIckes with reasonable results. You still have to clean up but its not so urgent! Enough of a hijack! Regards, Deano. Edit: ps, Not all those years were railway modelling. Many were/are Radio controlled planes and helicopters!!
  6. I look forward to those future builds. Although I've been model making since the late 60's, I'll never be in the 'premier league', more like Sunday local footy, but so much is learnt from your threads, and the many other talented builders who take the effort to post on here. I'd love to get to Telford this year, and I'm scheduled to be off, but my work is so flexible that may change?! Keep 'em coming!! Regards, Deano.
  7. I go to work for the day and the tenders almost finished!!! Normal pace then, Jazz?! Regards, Deano.
  8. I'm looking forward to this one!! Regards, Deano.
  9. Looks very 'real'! A credit to your workmanship! Regards, Deano.
  10. Thanks George. The couplings look good. better than the etched ones! Regards, Deano.
  11. Hi George Excellent work on the Macaw and Brake van. Would JPL be the shop in Tyldesley by any chance, and if so do they have a website? Thanks. Keep up the good work! Regards, Deano.
  12. I have the ACE version. (My first 7mm loco kit; oh dear!) I didn't mention it because ...........!!!!! (With much effort it will make a reasonable representation and I will go back to it someday) DA's version any time! (Last week I collected a Stanier 2 Cyl 2-6-4t kit of his, hence the opportunity to have a long chat) Regards, Deano
  13. Hi 2ManySpams DA does an N class, but to order only. I was chatting with him last week and he doesn't hold stock any more (and hasn't for some time!) Regards, Deano
  14. Beautiful work, Warren!! How do you get round the handrails?? Regards, Deano
  15. Looking good Mr Grumps!! I am rather tempted to try their Std 4, 2-6-4t! Regards, Deano.
  16. More like a different looking locomotive, but another masterpiece of your work!! Regards, Deano.
  17. That repair looks pretty damn good to me! ...and the Ivatt looks outstanding, and will look even better once Warren has worked his magic on it. Regards, Deano.
  18. Splendid job David! Always a pleasure to follow your builds. Enjoy the flight! Regards, Deano.
  19. Yes I can see that. I will go back to it eventually, and I'm sure it will end up a presentable likeness to the real thing, my abilities allowing!! Regards, Deano.
  20. Sadly! I bought it quite a few years ago and if I'd known, then I'd have saved for a better quality manufacturer! Regards, Deano
  21. Hi Peter The first 7mm loco kit I built was an Ace N class 2-6-0. The tender went together really well but the loco had numerous misfits of parts! The opportunity of acquiring and building a DJH Fairburn 2-6-4t came along so the N got put on the shelf for now. I shall be following your build to see how it goes together in comparison. Regards, Deano
  22. Hi Warren What a beautiful model!! A Quick question. I presume you finish with a varnish; what do you use? Regards, Deano
  23. It's coming along really nicely, David. The coal hole doors look the part and although it's small detail it adds to the personal satisfaction! ...and the working reverser...!! Regards, Deano
  24. Excellent job with the pannier. Some of the photos are so life like!! I look forward to following the next awe inspiring build! Regards, Deano
