    Some fantastic work going on, David. The detail parts are so better than the 'bits' on the DJH Fairburn 2-6-4t that I am currently building! I am fully aware of all the errors in my kit (as highlighted by Dikitriki) but as one of my first 7mm locos it's going together fairly well straight from the box.     I have just found this thread and have read from page 1 to date. Well worth the time it took! Truly outstanding work of art. Your pictures are so lifelike and oozing atmosphere!! I have recently moved on to 7mm and so far don't have a layout but I can see that many of the techniques and materials (coffee stirrers!) can be adapted. I shall be following the progress.     Yes both methods work, surprisingly?! Brass, unlike steel, does not harden this way. The only way to harden brass is by 'working' it. Regards, Deano
