  1. Railwire: https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php
  2. I tend to agree with Spitfire2865's comments. I have purchased three US n-gauge items from Trainz.com and had no problem with their customer service when one order was short one item. Trainz.com are Okay! - but they are only a retailer, like Hattons, RoS, Model Railways Direct etc. in this country and not a 'supplier' as inferred by this forum. Would one expect, say, Model Railways Direct to accept a return and/or repair on a year-old Hornby loco? Of course not, one would take it up directly with Hornby. You do not state what scale the loco is? With US stuff, it is always best to look on railwire.net to discover whether there are any inherent problems with the model. I know that there have been problems reported with versions of the model, but cannot tell you offhand what they were. Another route is to find and join a Facebook page related to UP modelers (note US spelling!) and ask a question there. Best of luck! Trainz.com is Okay!!! Martin
  3. The diameter of the wheels would affect the tare weight, a pair of 'new' (full-size) wheelsets weighing more than a pair that were almost at scrapping size. Timber varies significantly in density, joinery quality being heavier than carcassing. Regards, Martin
  4. Are you a member of: https://groups.io/g/UK-PO-Wagons You might well get a definitive answer if you ask there, Regards, Martin
  5. Page 65 of this pdf is the BR diagram for the loco: http://www.barrowmoremrg.co.uk/BRBDocuments/BR_Diesel_Locos_0329_SB_issue.pdf Don't blame me if you, like me, are still confused!
  6. Hopefully unloading is well under way as the ship has been docked at Southampton for a day or so. Sorry, unable to give a more precise time of mooring. Martin
  7. I do not disagree, but there are still around 10 days before the New Year shutdown and, assuming that the tooling has been cut (the first pics were, of course, 3D printed, not moulded) samples could be air-freighted to Hornby in the next couple of weeks. The dates are certainly optimistic but not IMHO unachievable. Which ever month this year they do eventually hit the shelves, I will be happy. They will definitely be delivered a darn sight quicker than someone else's Bulleid carriages! Martin
  8. And, once we have our Oxford N7s in our sweaty little hands, the next question is ............ Who makes 4mm scale destination boards for them? Some of the reviewers seem to believe that the destination board brackets are additional lamp irons. Martin
  9. The April and May 2019 delivery estimates have now been restated as May and June respectively on the Hornby website and Facebook. It gives the wallet 4 or 5 weeks breathing space. Martin
  10. Thanks! I am glad I am not as unobservant as I thought I might be! Martin
  11. Please pardon me from appearing a bit thick, but is there any official, i.e. confirmed info as to the state of progress of the new Bachmann Bulleid carriages project and (one lives in hope!) a possible delivery date/year? Thanks, Martin
  12. I don't believe that we should be expecting these to arrive before March. 'Production started' on 24 November 2018, but what does this mean? I suspect that it simply means that components for the batch are ordered from sub-contractors by the Chinese factory. The mouldings could be produced simultaneously and be finish painted/printed by which time the motors, wheels etc. may have been delivered. Work can then commence on assembly. I would suggest that they MAY be completed and shipped before the start of the Chinese New Year on 5 February, in which case we will see them in the UK during March. If they are delayed until after the New Year (which ends on 19 February), IMHO we should not expect them before April. Doubtless Kernow will make an announcement when there is some good news. I am certainly looking forward to receiving mine! Martin
  13. I hope that a certainty in the 2019 Oxford Rail range will be a Diag. 14 LNER 12T goods van. This is the van equivalent of their 6-plank open goods with a similar 9-foot wheelbase handbrake-only timber underframe. Built from 1926 to 1931, almost 4500 of them survived at the 1947 wagon census. A version was built by Charles Roberts in 1940 for the War Department.
  14. Another Youtube review now online. The detail on the model seems quite spectacular:
  15. For those that 'do' Facebook, Kernow Model Centre have a new image of the EP samples at Hornby: https://www.facebook.com/KernowModelRailCentre/photos/pcb.2592880580753473/2592878150753716/?type=3&theater
  16. I have found one vid on Youtube so far. A comment/reply from the poster reads, 'It is slightly noisy, I gave it a running in period but only a fraction quieter':
  17. So, ....... does anyone have one of these (GER versions) yet and, if so, how does it run? Martin
  18. There are these bodyshells on (Loads Of Money) Shapeways, if anyone is desparate for a kit of a quad or quint. I have not checked the accuracy of the diagrams so I am assuming that there are shells to assemble a GN quad and 2 types of GE quint sets. https://www.shapeways.com/shops/recreation21?section=1%2F76+versions&s=0&page%5Bnumber%5D=7&page%5Blimit%5D=48&page%5Border%5D=asc
  19. What has happened to the Kirk kit? They were produced to order when the business was in East London.
  20. I have a road van on order from Kernow. They are 'cute' - a bit of a curio and, to my eye, are 'just right'. IMHO the prototype for the Hornby van, the 'New Van', is butt ugly and the 2D coloured CAD images make it appear even more so!
  21. There is a short but closer look at the engineering sample of the LMS 20T brake van at about 30 seconds in on this: The full vid is also a separate topic in the Hornby list here on RMWeb.
  22. A prototype question ... Do the GWR HST Mk3s in green livery all have sliding doors presently? Thanks, Martin
  23. I will not be able to get to Warley this year. If anyone does happen to see one of the N7 pre-production models moving under its own power, would they please film it and post a link on this thread. Thanks. I did ask the question re footage of the models running on the Oxford Rail Facebook page about 3 weeks ago, but got no reply to it; neither did the guy who asked about later BR versions of the N7 being produced. Hope you all enjoy the Show! Martin
  24. Having already bought mine, I am not keeping in touch with current prices. So, just a heads up that Jadlam Models have the R4817 RFK in BR green for 42.95. However, ........ https://www.jadlamracingmodels.com/Hornby-coach-r4817-br-maunsell-kitchen-dining-first-s7946s-era-4-5/ even better, they have a 10% off sale today, no minimum spend, until 6am on Saturday 3 November. Enter code FLASH at checkout. I understand this offer applies right across their website. I have no connection with Jadlam other than having purchased from them previously. Martin
  25. I have looked back through this thread but cannot see any report of one of the Oxford N7 decorated samples running on a test track or exhibition layout. Has anyone seen one running yet, or were the samples just dummies?
