  1. Like most forums, if you post, you automatically become a follower so your mailbox gets inundated with emails from RMWEB (unless you've configured your mailing preferences not to). You can always click the 'Unfollow' button if you'd rather not be a statistic. I'm happy to get these emails - takes my mind off work. Graeme
  2. great photos Tony. Looks like Carlisle has suffered a massive earthquake - didn't feel it up here in the borders
  3. Tony. On the subject of derailments, I couldn't help but notice the potential for one on Little Bytham. On the video at around 7' 09" , a pair of conflats have locked buffers with the leading wagon's rear wheels up in the air. Might be worth checking the rake out in case something goes awry on future runs. Graeme
  4. These are just numbers for interdepartmental accounting. Sadly doesn't resemble my remuneration by any stretch of the imagination.
  5. Just wondering if you're going to be altering the layout in light of current events? http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-merseyside-39124787 Graeme
  6. bargain! I believe my time is costed out to the rest of the company at £900 a day. - mainframe tech support for a large bank. Still a drop in the ocean compared to contractors rates.
  7. Great stuff Tony. Having lost a brother a few years ago, funding cancer research is a topic very close to my heart. Graeme
  8. Thanks Paul. Maybe a slight misunderstanding - I have been soldering droppers but was telling tony how it can sometimes take ages to heat up enough to melt the solder (with the added risk of melting sleepers). he has recommended using flux (which I wasn't - had flux cored solder instead) and suggested fixing th droppers to side of the rails as it makes future maintenance a lot easier. A very nice guy - and taller in real life too. Graeme
  9. I saw Lime street yesterday and it's even better in the flesh so to speak. An incredible piece of work. You guys should be immensely proud of your achievement and especially the BMRA award. However, given how incredible the model of the hotel is, I can't help but wonder why you've hidden half of it behind an information board? Graeme.
  10. It was a real pleasure chatting with you yesterday Tony. I've taken your advice and bought a jar of flux and soldered a couple of droppers to the sides of some rails today just to see how things go. Seems to work better than my 'non-fluxed' bottom of the rail variety so I'll be carrying on doing things the 'wright' way. Graeme.
  11. Great photos. Love the photo looking out of the chute to the flats. I used to go out with a girl from one of those. Think they've all been demolished now - it's been a few years since I was last in that part of Blyth (born there BTW) . A couple of years ago at Modelrail Scotland, there was an N gauge model of Blyth station and shed. Brought back fond memories of playing on the station roof before it was knocked down.
  12. There's an interesting programme on BBC iPlayer just now depicting the 40th anniversary non-stop London to Edinburgh run in 1968. Watched it last night after the BBC4 BR programme. Not a bad way to spend a couple of hours. The Scotsman programme features interviews with Rev W Audry who manages to avoid mentioning Thomas when talking about his books.
