  1. As a huge Land rover fan it was inspiring to see 40 odd series landies still earning their keep as taxis in Darjeeling. MY wife enjoyed the show but did make the point that TR has piled on the pounds since we last saw him digging holes with the time team. Looks good for 72 though.
  2. When I saw the layout in Glasgow I spent over half an hour marvelling at the work and didn't notice whether any trains ran or not. Graeme
  3. Managed a few hours on Sunday with my better half and our 2 grandkids. They were mesmerised by the GRS Thomas display on the stage aswell as Tamshooglie. I loved the Trenches but have to say Grangemouth was my favourite layout although I did think there could have been more happening 'on scene' rather than just a string of passenger and freight trains on the mainlines. Next year's show is in the calendar. Graeme
  4. I took my grandkids on the Bo'ness and Kinneil railway through the summer and found the stock to roll noticeably albeit at unrealistically low speeds. Graeme
  5. Search on Ebay for LMS coaches under collectables. usually a few hundred listings on there. I've built quite a collection of Hornby and Lima coaches very cheaply. all awaiting weathering and general fiddling with. Graeme
  6. 'Aggregate' is an aggregate of sand and gravel. edit.. beaten to the punch
  7. Just got home to find the DVD in the mat. Supernatural forces at work methinks. Looking forward to a relaxing evening viewing. Thanks Graeme
  8. Just wondering if anyone has received their DVD through the post yet? Graeme
  9. I fail to see how adding the expense of posting the DVD to (potentially) everyone who buys the magazine makes good economic sense. For what it's worth I'm still waiting for the posted copy of the DVD but I have seen the LB content via other means - it is quite wonderful and inspirational. Graeme
  10. I appreciate the offer above to send out the DVD. However, I must be missing something. The text states. "Select 'Post' or 'Email' from the options below. You'll then need to log-in or create an account.". However, there's no option to select post or email. Do I have to register for the competition first or has something gone wrong with the page? Google Chrome and Internet explorer show the same results.
  11. The shop bought copy does NOT include the DVD. If you want the kit I'll happily swap it for your copy of the DVD as it's of no use to me. Also, the shop copy is £5.49. Far more than RM for a lot less desireable content.
  12. So we're being given a reason for them to have suddenly stopped giving away the DVD with the newsstand issue?
  13. Very disappointed now. I've been looking forward to seeing the Little Bytham session on DVD since it was announced on this thread BUT the WH Smith copy doesn't come with the DVD this month - only subscribers have the priviledge of seeing the footage.
  14. Well disappointed now. Just had a call from Mrs Jacko who's just bought me a copy from wh Smith. it has the card kit but not the DVD. The only reason I asked her to buy me a copy when she was in town was because Tony told us on Wright writes that the November issue came with a DVD of the 1938 Little Bytham running session. I do feel that paper copy purchasers are being cheated somewhat. Shan't be buying this magazine again.
  15. I must say I'm looking forward to the November cover DVD for a change. I've found the recent offerings to be pretty tedious. the only cover DVD I still have (and watch from time to time) is a really old one where Tony and Cliff Parsons discuss the Gresley beat with some fantastic footage - also the first time I heard Roger Daltrey's name mentioned in connection with railway modelling. Graeme
  16. I'm pretty sure the Tyneside exhibition is November 10th / 11th (it had better be - I've reserved a room at my folks for the weekend).
  17. But you're missing the chance to win a trip of a lifetime on what seems to be the worst railway on the planet
  18. I'm not a huge fan of the modern image but the scenic modelling on the second photo down is possibly the best I've seen. I especially like the overgrown siding. Vey realistic. Graeme
  19. Such a shame your V2 article is in this month's BRM Tony. They've turned quite a bit of the mag over to 3d gimmickry which I can't stand; either in print or (especially) at the movies. I find wearing 2 pairs of glasses to be quite painful after a few minutes. However, as usual there's plenty first class photography on this thread to spur me on. How about a dystopian future where the LMS took over the whole network and Little Bytham turned Crimson Lake? That would be something to see Graeme
  20. I saw one of these sets this morning (or one very like it) heading past my work carpark in sighthill heading towards Edinburgh park. have to say, I much prefer to see a loco hauled train rather than one of the common-as-muck sprinters. Graeme
  21. This film is on a permanent loop at the Bo'ness and Kinneil railway museum - inside a mail coach. Wonderful stuff
  22. Anyone catch the July 24th episode of this All 4 program? Some superb Settle and Carlisle footage with a footplate ride on an 8F. As far as I could tell it was the same train for the whole segment... no continuity errors like those on the portillo program.
  23. I had this on my calendar but work have decided I'm stuck in Lanarkshire instead. Shame as I really wanted to see how ed orwin is getting on with my old home station.
