With respect that's not "your" pitch, its always been the pitch for TT whether in the UK or elsewhere. Re second paragraph it may not be for you, but plenty of us on here it would seem are his target market. Don't tar us all with your brush.

I've just done it and it works fine. Don't go to community from the login page, use the drop down menu at the top right which gives you another drop down menu.

I suspect cost, both for tooling and final cost. Also train set buyers in the UK are used to plain track. Can't say I had many issues when I was a kid using Triang Super 4 or HD track, however I was careful!

I'd be very surprised if it couldn't! For the record Tillig and Roco code 83 will connect with Peco's code 80 and 55 as well, so anyone using Tillig's TT track won't have any issues either other than which rail joiner to use.

To be fair to the OP on this I have also experienced what he's said, probably from proprietors who have experienced people not known to them coming in and stealing stuff so they tend to keep a closer eye on you than those they know. It can come across in the way he described. Most proprietors are fine once they know you, it's just getting over that initial stage on both sides that can be an issue.

They use code 83, not 80, though the two can be coupled together with no issues, I've been doing it for decades with Tillig and Roco H0e code 83 and Peco's code 80s.

Ordered a set, now await it's arrival. The discount from the "club" makes quite a saving as well.

Answered your own question there, the initial launch is all about getting it out there so the "trainset brigade" are the ones it is aimed at, because they are the ones that will buy in larger numbers initially. I doubt RMWeb members will constitute a large percentage of sales, especially as so many have felt the need to say that they aren't interested in it! So perhaps the choice isn't odd! As for the rest you need to read the rest of the catalogue, for a start a Black 5 is mention in Phase 2, no doubt others will come along in due course.

Pete beat me to it, any punishment needs to be a deterrent. They've already gained a lot both last season and this from the overspend. If the powers that be decide to put in a price cap then they have to enforce it with something that stops others doing it again.

I assume that the middle loco is TT3 (1:100), Pete? If so for anyone looking the new version are TT(1:120) so will be slightly smaller. There are photos for comparison purposes between 1:120 models and British N 1:148 on the photo size comparison thread in the TT120 section of the forum.

Auhagen's range is labeled TT/H0 and is to 1:100 scale according to their catalogue. There are quite a few model buildings in the continental manufacturers H0 ranges that are nearer TT than H0, they tend to be ones that were brought out in the 60s and are still in production. Many of the Auhagen ones were ex Vero and known to be smaller, at least Auhagen have been honest, Faller and others still sell them as H0!

To summarise look at the video and catalogue, the rest of the thread is froth. Some are knocking it, some because they don't seem to like Hornby and some because they don't agree with the choices and others because they are established in another scale and can't imagine what the market will be... Oh, and that it will fail and take Hornby down with it. No valvegear... Yet. But give them time... ;) No.

I didn't say that, simply pointing out that they can't launch everything at once, what they have in the pipeline I don't know and never said any different. Just I see lots if posts saying "why haven't they launched this or that" to which the answer is obvious, they can't do everything at once!

A3s and 4s have been painted in LNER liveries long after 1947 and hauled them so Mk1s are fine! ;)

Express engines that will sell and some Mk1s to go behind them. From what I've seen mk1s will go behind an A3 or 4 in virtually any livery.

Still this comment continues (no disrespect to you, Phil!). There's a lot more to 1:120 scale than small layouts. All of my TT scale layouts have depicted a railway in the scenery, it has the advantage over 00 on space and allows much more detail than N. So you get the best of both worlds. Yes, it will be an advantage in small homes, but that isn't the sole reason to choose it, in my case that isn't a reason at all.

In my case late BR Steam early preservation in the north west, 67, 68. Imagining the Pilling Pig had been preserved. All I want is an 8f to be added to phase 2.

Not aimed at you, Jason, but look at some of the other replies! As for high risk, perhaps, perhaps not, time will tell. Unlike some I recon there is a market for the scale in the UK, but as I've said, I've actually modelled in 1:120, unlike many who pass comments without having done so, and I can attest to the "ideal scale" phrase that is being used. No-one is asking for people to shift scale. Though to be fair many of us have over the years, me included, so it's not exactly unknown. How many N scale modellers started life modelling in 00, for instance!! ;)

I see the negative vibes from some are already here, sadly! Well I hope Hornby prove you naysayers wrong!! Look at the other threads on the 1:120 section, @The Stationmaster and you will see from the size comparison thread that there IS a noticeable difference in size between British N and 1:120. I've no SG stuff and I'm one of those who have modelled in 1:120 scale, albeit not UK outline, and I'm more than happy with the announcement, when phase 2 models are released I'll have nearly everything I need for a model based on what i saw as a spotter in the late 60s around Preston. Black 5, 9F and Brit, all I need is an 8F to make it perfect! Thanks, Hornby!
