  1. I ordered on Sunday. Fingers crossed my lovely post lady makes me happy chappy this morning
  2. Not just you Tony. There’s lots of Buckingham fans out there glad this piece of Railway history wasn’t lost and that (hopefully) there will be continuing updates in the shape of articles and videos. A video of the movements you describe above would keep me riveted to the screen just as the Reverends original video did, which I believe came out in the 80’s but it unfortunately went to the tip as My system was Betamax and when my machine died I wasn’t able to get it repaired. Brian
  3. Bit worried about my Amazon delivery of The Book. I’ve received notification from Amazon the book is coming by rail and no delivery date has been given
  4. Was the sound of Blues n Twos prototypical of the area when turntables turned?
  5. I think it has to be about the journey and have felt like that for quite a few years. I would think that for most people on here the pleasure our layouts gives is the enjoyment they give while we are building or operating whatever takes our fancy, and within our limitations, be they spacial, financial or time restricted. A few years ago I started sifting through my stash of kits n bits that I had accumulated over 50+ years. Some were confined to the wheelie bin but a lot have been put to good use on one or other of my small layouts, none of which are expected to be completed in my lifetime and certainly aren’t likely to be completed after. Does this bother me at all? Not in the slightest because for me the value I’ve had from my railway modelling is in the Now. Whether that’s the afternoon spent building something, or just shunting some trucks up and down. Take the pleasures we can in the Now moment because as we’ve seen recently with the sad losses of our RMWebb friends all to soon we don’t now how long our Now time is
  6. I think this is the first time I’ve seen a loco modelled with a green roof.
  7. I normally use Ten Commandments loads and drill a hole and put a steel pin in centrally which I disguise with a bit of plastic putty. Once painted you don’t know it’s there. I then use a magnetic pick up tool to lift the load out of the wagon such as when standing in a coal yard so there are then empties waiting to be removed. If using a preformed plastic load I evostick 2 pins on the underside and usual add coal scatter on top but you need to do this sparingly as otherwise you lose some of the attraction You may need to sand the load before painting to unsure smooth exit and I tend to put name of wagon on underside as loads are not one size fits all.
  8. Nope. It made me fall off my chair.
  9. Now that’s what I call storage! Being of normal height though I doubt I’d reach the ones which are farthest away.
  10. That’s really given me food for thought Phil as since I upgraded to Windows 10 I have struggled greatly with more or less everything on my computer despite having an expert try and fix things by doing what an expert does. Maybe changing to Apple would be a better option
  11. I have to say the only thing I miss about not working is no longer having youngsters on tap who could help the oldie with computer issues. I understood save but really struggled with find. Rams to me were always male sheep and I always suspected gigabytes were something to do with overload pop concerts. As for terabyte wasn’t that a creature out of Jurassic Park?
  12. Various other items? The mind positively boggles.
  13. Nice nail varnish Andy. Do you do them yourself. Brian
  14. Modelu now have a dented oil drum in their range which might be of interest in case you haven’t spotted it.
  15. Excellent use of restraint in creating that area.
  16. That’s reminded me of when my employer got taken over and I drove a car load up to what became known as the mothership to get to know people up there. We all sat round the bored table and had to introduce ourselves. One of my colleagues was recounting her career history and said “ prior to then I was with MI6 but I can’t talk about that” The room went silent and we moved on. imagine the stick I took on the way home when I said “I didn’t know you worked for MI6”
  17. I dunno about that. The chap on the lorry still seems to be stuck in his newspaper.
  18. That would be fantastic but unless Andy York pins this to the top of the page - maybe with an introduction, then I’m afraid it will just fall down the listings much as Tetley’s Mills has done. Brian
  19. Active modeller for 50+ years now and as I model in N, I am eternally grateful that eyesight and dexterity of fat fingers are holding up well. The benefit of N is that I have 5 separate layouts in one state or another covering LMS GWR through to Green then Blue Diesel. Interchangeable stock gives me increased variety as to which one I play with as the mood takes me. Brian
  20. Kick boxing & Jujitsu. Gulp! Sounds like you’re going to have to be on your best behaviour.
  21. Such sad news and my condolences to Gordon’s family. Like many on here I never met Gordon but followed his modelling avidly and took inspiration from it. I think it was Gordon building his own track which pushed me over the edge into building my own track in N gauge. Thoroughly enjoyable exercise and a very successful outcome. RIP sir. We will all miss you. Brian
  22. I’ve just had an incredibly relaxing 20 mins or so over lunch watching a video of Modbury that popped up on YouTube. Your layout is absolutely exquisite Ian and the video is just the sort of calm and measured “action” I love to see on a model. I’m not convinced action is the right word because it tends to suggest the breakneck harem scarum activity more associated with gaudy boxes hurtling round a round roundy layout at impossible speeds on minimal radius curves but, as they say, each to their own. Now that I’ve found this thread I can imagine I’ve several enjoyable days reading to come. Brian
  23. So sorry to hear this news. Fingers crossed that Gordon rallies and thinking of his family and friends. Brian
  24. Maybe just a hedge alone would be enough?
