  1. I had a major reorganisation a couple of weeks ago moving things about and putting tools closer to hand and in easily reachable places. Working well so far but getting worried I’ve not realised that I’ve lost something yet - just in case I need it.
  2. Are they in the crate waiting to be unloaded?
  3. I’m puzzled by the helicopter landing pad sign on the cattle dock. I thought the Squadron Leader flew a fixed wing aircraft
  4. Just found your thread and picking up on one of your points above re fixing track, I’m using Finescale track and have been glueing track using a thin smear of PVA and hold down with drawing pins. Has worked well for me and to remove track all it takes is a misting with water and sliding a butter knife underneath. Brian
  5. Just make sure you do it at your own pace ……………
  6. Looking back at your magnets I can see why you need to do it that way. I hadn’t appreciated how thick the kadee magnets are. I’m using the Dapol Ez shunt couplings which are kadees in all but name and their magnets are much slimmer although I’m using stronger magnets I bought elsewhere as they work out cheaper. Brian
  7. Interesting how you fit the magnets. I’ve a project on going albeit in N but I’m just cutting a slot in the cork and then putting an address label over the top to cover any gaps and before ballasting. Is there any reason why you are doing it the way you are? Brian
  8. Very nice to see some blasts from the past in there. Maybe a 5 mins retrospective each time you do a video as I’m sure you’ve many new followers on here that may not have seen your back catalogue. Brian
  9. Happy New Year to you and Dee and all the other Butonians. Brian
  10. Usually when you’ve run out of 6” nails I believe
  11. Mmmmm Megapoints. I’ve a bag of stuff I bought several years ago for a new layout I’d just started building. Really must get my ariarse into gear and do something with it all. Electronics are not my superpower.
  12. I’m guessing by slides you are talking about using PowerPoint, and having recently had my lap top upgraded and a new hard drive installed this is something nearing the top of my list to tackle. I have reams of notes and thoughts for a loco and stock schedule for one of my layouts and it would be of great help if you could post a couple of pictures of your slide layout, so that I have what I’m guessing is a tried and tested system, or if this is something you’ve covered on here before refresh my memory as to where, because if I don’t write a note of something down at the time I see it, it’s lost within 24 hours and that’s on a good day.
  13. Totally agree that the sidings look better not curving towards the running line, but playing devils advocate why is there such a curve in them. Would an almost imperceptible curve not look more realistic as a curve suggests something to curve around. Best wishes for new year everyone. Brian
  14. Have they worked at all this year Neal?
  15. If it wasn’t for the end wall you’d swear that was a prototype picture. Brian
  16. That’s all looking great Mike. I particularly like the flow evident in the first picture and the shed is a masterpiece. Brian
  17. Very nice indeed Jeff. The first picture really makes the layout look much larger than it is being in a garage and the absence of trains just heightens that effect. Brian
  18. I’ve been known to buy books only to realise I’d already got it. The peskie blighters move around of their own accord and hide on the shelves
  19. Many thanks to everyone involved for putting this together and as a regular attendee at the Peterborough show it was much appreciated and especially for sticking with the “negotiations” with the server when the problems were kicking in. One can only imagine the frustrations and language at HQ but doubtless some charity will benefit from the overflowing swearbox. Hopefully next year we will see the usual show return? It’s always been one of my must see shows as even before COVID I always enjoyed the the space, there as the setting out is never cramped or claustrophobic.
  20. Thoroughly enjoyed the video footage on Saturday Gilbert, as I have your layout for nearly 9 years now. I was very disappointed to see that it had gone yesterday along with all the other Saturday content as I would have liked to rewatch a few items. Do you consider the layout to be broadly speaking “finished” or if not what’s left to be done?
  21. A proper layout doesn’t get built at warp speed - well unless your name is Andy Peters of course. Blink and your likely to miss one. I think one of the benefits I find with being an N modeller is that I have a few different layouts on which I can operate different stock and time periods, and where I can flit between layouts as the fancy takes me. This invariably happens when I’m getting bored with a specific task. Currently I’m doing a base ground layer for an inner city goods yard I started when I took early retirement 9 years ago and I am now trying chinchilla dust as everything I’ve tried from the more usual sources are far too coarse for the delicate little feet of Modelu figures to traverse. A little a day will get it done and if I don’t feel like doing any I don’t and move on an do something else, or slip through time back to the late 40’s to my GWR BLT branch line where I need to work out how to get a Dukedog into the station as it’s protruding connecting rods snag on the platform edging. Something to tax the little grey cells but as with everything there’s no rush as it’s all about the journey, and it’s not a race. Railway modelling is our hobby, and as long as we are deriving pleasure from what we do that’s all that matters, not the rate of progress achieved or not. Brian
  22. You beat me to it there John. That embankment is a sheer work of art Jeff. Brian
