  1. This is looking good Andy and hopefully will give you plenty of fun shunting troublesome trucks about.

The auto frogs are giving me food for thought as frog power transfer is a headache I’m wrestling with for points I’m building in N where I was planning on using sliding switches with the operating black lever drilled through to take wire linked to the tie bar but there is so little throw on the tie bar I think the travel needed in the switch will be far too much.

One observation if I may? As soon as you offered up the Metcalfe stone it drew my eye to the platform surface which by comparison looks very blue. This may of course be an optical illusion caused by the camera, or not enough coffee my end.

"Tables" built using L-girders, over-engineered for the task, as you'd expect from me! 12mm birch ply tops.

I’m glad I read your preceding posts before I saw these pictures otherwise I might have thought you had done an Andy Peters on us as well.

Such a pain that your pictures are lost to us and thank you for taking the trouble to do a bit of a catch up on the history.

So nice to see you back. I didn’t know how much I missed my little Muddle fix.

Indeed. The world hasn’t been the same with not being able to catch up with the Little Muddle muddlings over my first brew of the day. Now to catch with what has happened during the blackout. Has the crate been offloaded or the door fixed. And what’s the position with the hidden cannonballs …………..

No 1 for me, far more subtle.

I tried to get on yesterday to post on Bute Road, but it took for ever, so I gave up in the  end.

I do like my daily dose of Little Muddle though.:good:

I totally agree. The day doesn’t start right without the first mug of coffee of the day and a catch up with what’s happening, or not, at Little Muddle.

yes RMWebb was not in a good place yesterday but well done to all involved in sorting the issues out as it seems to be playing nicely today.

Maybe the team could tackle the off loading of the crate ………….. or even the engine shed door.

  6. Superb modelling Jeff.

You could start your own business producing stones for others to use on their projects …………

looking at the section of wall which has sustained some damage, will you be adding some random stones around the area as I’m guessing in reality the area wouldn’t have been tidied until a 12” to the foot Jeff came in to repair the wall?

  8. Those Crimson Lake liveried locos are sumptuous. It was the LMS lake locos which set me on my adult modelling track way back in the 70’s and LMS is still my first love, despite the occasional digression.

Work has slowed on the sleeper wagon.

    Two reasons

Firstly with load added I have painted it and was about to add the chains when I sat back and thought

'Have I got the sleepers the right colour?' ...... so it has been parked for a while until I clarify it.

    4033.JPG.20df392d8205209c8253f230fba83de8.JPG

    and secondly....

I have been building 0 gauge.....!

Don't worry intrepid reader Little Muddle is not about to become Big Muddle.

Rather I was asked if I could build a Tudor house for my youngest (7) granddaughters class, Taylor is learning about them but they only have pictures......

So Grandad to the rescue and using Purple Bob's Hobbies card kit of one I have just finished this

A few things to tidy like the corners but how long will it stay like this....!

This is, I believe, meant to be a half relief model but I used that and as it had internal detail I have altered and tweaked it a little so you can peer it around the back and have a look in...

Each of those floor beams are folded card, 12 of them, patience was a virtue during their construction.

These pictures make the dark brown felt tip on the corners look very purple.......I can assure you in the flesh its not that bad.......honest!

Now back to my sleeper and their colours!

I would add a touch of rusting to the chairs Kevin we as if they’ve been in use and have been lifted and are now being taken away.

if the load is intended to be new sleepers then I’m not sure that the chairs would already be installed.

That's an interesting point and a valid suggestion. A project for a time when I return to the diorama, I think. I like your idea, but I think it'd require at least 3 half trees at that end and, for the moment, I want to be doing something different....

.... So this afternoon I'm going to be rearranging my storage under the boards as it's a real mess under there. Not modelling, but looking forward to it!

Oooooh yes. You can’t beat a bit of a sort out and reorganisation.

I did much the same the other day with my work bench and paint and tool storage so everything is more easily accessible when working. So far I’ve not failed to put my hand right on what I need, but can’t help wondering what’s gone missing that I’ve not realised I’ve lost.

  11. Very impressed with those trees Jeff. I picked up a couple some time ago at a show but they’re not really tall enough so making my own seems a good option as I’ll get a better sense of scale as I go along. Something else to add to the list but I do think trying new things and ideas is part of the modelling journey.

Work continuing on the sinister wagon….

Sleepers being added by what with the cut out holes????

Lead smuggling, very rife in these parts!!

Wagon very light even with the brass couplings fitted so weight needed but where to put it??

In the load of course hidden from view…,,

I’m thinking that’s a delivery of cannonballs for use by the vessels which patrol Little Muddles coastal waters to keep them free of Pirates and other such ne’er do wells.

The last shipment was apparently sent in a crate by lorry, but hasn’t been heard of since leaving the foundry. Rail transit is seen as a more reliable delivery method.
