With nothing much going on today I managed a little more progress - this time returning to that large scenic gap beyond the barns at Churminster.

The entrance into the deer park at Churminster Grange continues to take shape, although nothing is even close to being finished (please excuse the modelling detritus!):

The wall needs fettling, the road needs some grass along the sides and re-painting, plus we need some deer in the park:

Further along towards the airfield the landform is now fairly complete and has had a 2nd covering of plaster bandage, followed by a first covering of paint in a shade which I refer to as 'fecal brown' (not to be confused with Fecal Sharkey, a popular singer of the '80's!):

I bought 2 litres of this paint a while ago in a sale for 50p - easy to imagine why no-one would want to put it on their walls! Nevertheless it does a reasonable job as what will be an 'undercoat' for plenty of static grass. The area should look pretty different once completed and with the backscene back in place (and this will hide the two tracks at the rear, which are the entry roads to the upper fiddle yard), but there will still be plenty to do towards the front of this section where the main line descends into a cutting whilst the narrow gauge quarry line climbs between two tunnels.

Given the long weekend I am hoping to make further progress over the next few days.

That’s taken me back Tony as when I was living at home I painted my bedroom in that shade of brown and if memory serves it was still that colour when I moved out.

When I next stayed in that room I was sure I could hear the cursing and mutterings of my dad who had the unenviable task of redecorating. Ooh did I forget to say? The emulsion was over wood chip. Sorry Dad.

I'm just getting a bit worried about the milk.

I think by the time that tankers in the siding its going to have turned to cheese let alone cream.

A similar thought crossed my mind the other day concerning the crate.

I think the assumption has been that it’s something being delivered to the creamery …….. but what if it’s something the creamy has produced and is in fact waiting and waiting and waiting to be delivered.

Me too. Hence the question. I believe steam locos have reversers, which (I assume) is used when the loco goes backwards . . . .

Goodness this is getting a bit advanced and technical.

Liked the Benny Hillisque painting - just missing music though.   You of all people should work on that.

Nothing to do with Benny Hill. That’s the speed Andy normally works. He forgot to go at the speed us mere mortals work - or would like to work at.

Normally I edit out any surplus areas but I thought in this case I would leave in the point control box for Encombe Town station.

Compared to some I have seen on the RMWeb this is very, very simple but works the best out of the other two version I had.

It also highlights the difference in levels between the farm and the creamery.

It's almost as though the adult and child who are on the bridge are stuck there. They've been there so long!

    5 more minutes dad. Pleeeeeeeeeeeese

  7. Building kits is my go to when my mojo has gone off. That’s why I’ve far more wagons than I need.

I like your idea of moving the tunnel to increase the visible run length. Maybe flattening the curve would improve the visual as well?

I would also suggest extending the goods shed line a tad so you could shunt a wagon or two through the shed and unload directly to a lorry or van alongside. Would improve the play element with having to use a cut of wagons to deal with the movement to keep the engine out of the shed.

What I meant was that the porter had just spotted something........that needed to be swept up. With that broom he is holding.

Doesn’t seem to do a lot so might be the railway equivalent of Trigger’s Broom

  9. Totally agree with you there Gilbert. I atomised a paracetamol the other day trying to pop it out of its packaging. Would have been easier to walk into the railway room and set about it with the Dremel.

The other bugbear of course is toddler proof tops. They are not toddler proof they are toddler and pensioner proof.

Totaly agree about the Warships. I had about half a dozen when I had my German Layout years ago. I will get a Maroon one at some stage, even though it can't run alongside the steam stuff.

Warships on a German layout?  🤔

I’m guessing that was under rule 1 running unless you had Graf Spey, Tirpitz and Scharnhorst of course with a few Mockers overhead

  11. I think a fair few of us on here have piles of crates or similar stashed away and never used. The knack with them is remembering you have them and where you’ve put them.
