Is it the livery the wagons were delivered in that you're seeking? The only place you might find note of that, that I can think of, is in the newsletters of the 'TOPS Circle' that David Larkin used to collate and edit in the early part of the 1980s. Sadly, these pre-dated the world of PCs and Notebooks, being typed, cyclostyled, and delivered by the postman. Apart from things like new wagon deliveries (not that there were many at the time), they noted the livery variants in which the new air-braked designs were delivered.

Somewhere, I have my copies of the TOPS Circle newsletter; if I find them, I'll try and do a precis of the liveries, and the dates of the Lot Numbers concerned.

I would like to know all the BAA wagons with red ends (Railfreight), what end types they had (below is the 5-bar variant), whether they had the Railfreight logo (not all with red ends had the logo) , any metals sector markings/decals etc.

  2. I am trying to find photos of a few BAA wagons which do not show up in the usual websites (Paul Bartlett's, Flickr etc). I am trying to see what types of ends they had and what livery/whether they had the "Railfreight" logo. More generally, I am trying to find how many BAAs carried the railfreight livery (in case someone out there has this information?).

Does anyone have photos of the following BAA wagons:

  3. Alex/Cav, are there sufficient similar wagons to produce multiple running numbers? (I think FTG did this with the SPA). I'm not sure if the answer would be dependent on livery. I would like to purchase a number of BBAs in Railfreight and it would be awesome if they don't all have the same number.

  4. Alex/Cavalex, if the BWA wagon posted by BazJones is simply a BBA without ends, could you re-use your BBA mould to produce BWA too? (assuming you can remove the ends?)

You would produce two wagons from one investment.

There might be a third similar wagon too, BazJones could probably confirm?

  5. Sorry to be negative, but they didn't have any of the cab windows which continually fall out of the class 47. I was told they don't keep those here. Silly really, given how often they fall out.

Have you got the diagram? The plastic base is screwed onto the cast metal block, an d the diagram will map the locations of the attaching screws for you.

FYI, the block is cast in a alloy principally based on Zinc, with trade names of Mazak or Zamak.

Have got the diagram, just looking for the screw sockets to remove it.

EDIT: Ah I needed a torch to see the screws, quite a deep socket.

    Remove the bogie.

Fit the drive shaft into the bogie and then gently guide the bogie back into place , aligning the drive shaft.

I find that the easiest way to do it, is to set the motor drive shaft ends to a similar alignment - usually horizontal.

Note - a Class 66 drive shaft has different shaped ends. If you get it wrong way round it will pop out again. It should gently pop into the bogie gear tower.

(And I can't remember which is the correct way)

    Cheers,

    Mick

Thanks Mick, I didn't realise it just has to be guided in to the "hole".

I am trying to fix a problem where something might be slipping (causing a horrible noise and slow movement) and I believe this is near the motor. However, the magnesium block appears to be in the way of where I wish to investigate. Do you know how I gain access to this area?

  8. I have just removed one of the bogies from a Baccy 66. However, in doing so I believe the horizontal rod (is this the flyshaft) has fallen out of it's socket. When I try and run the loco I hear a lot of spinning and zero movement.

How do I access and place the flyshaft back where it came from? It appears to be housed below the block of (magnesium?)

(I was doing this to try and fix an issue which may have been with a component slipping, causing a loud noise and little movement)

  9. I'm looking at a list of Railfreight Grey, Railfreight red stripe and sector 37s I would like to model. However, I am struggling to see many differences between the various class 37 chassis Bachmann have produced. The obvious difference is the circular markings/writing on the fuel tanks (see photos below). However, the fuel tanks are so dirty in Flickr photos I am finding it difficult identifying the best donor chassis. Take "Conidae" below, I have no chance trying to find a photo with the white parts, as they will be so dirty in photos.

Did any other locos besides 37507 have the similar "coloured" wheel components?

Are there any more differences in Bachmann chassis'?

Are there any rules like 37/5 always had a particular chassis etc?
