  1. I'm after a Hornby Class 31 Construction sector if anybody has any?
  2. What's the south-most (left-most on your map) platform at the underground station?
  3. I am after: -Bachmann Class 37 (metals) -Hornby Class 56 (metals) -BAAs (railfreight or metals) -BDAs (railfreight) -FTG SPA wagons (railfreight) -Bachmann SSAs (green/blue)
  4. I'm interested in building the Cambrian BBA and SPA wagons. I'd really like to get in to this, at least with one model to see if I'm up to it. I understand from a retailer's website: Please note kits require glue, paint, transfers, couplings, wheels (26mm axles & brass bearings) 12mm 3-Hole to complete. I know Fox Transfers will probably do the decals and I think I have read somewhere about railfreight red paint from Phoenix paints or Railmatch (anybody got a preference which is better, or another supplier?). What/where should I use for the remainder? Would the BBA and SPA even use the same wheels and couplings? Sorry for the non-stop questions, love to get in to this! Thanks in advance,
  5. Sorry to hijack, but god I found this thread so interesting! I'm guessing the tunnel between Metropolitan and Liverpool St platforms 1 and 2 no-longer exists because that would be located where the current-day concourse and associated shops are? Although perhaps part of the tunnel towards the metropolitan end still exists? Are there any other interesting, little-known, zone 1 junctions?
  6. Anyone know where I can get those tiny voltage decals (pictured below) and how trivial is it to apply these? (my fingers aren't small!)
  7. Is that the viaduct alongside Pinchin Street? I have always wondered where that lead to. Do you have anymore photos?!
  8. Does anyone have a Hornby R2757 (Class 60 Mainline, grey, 60077 "Canisp")?
  9. Anyone got any Bachmann BDA bolster wagons in railfreight livery, in "as-new" condition, i.e. original uprights intact and not bent?
  10. You have a problem discussing the colour of a product......in a thread where buyers have just obtained the product and posted photos?
  11. Have DCC concepts released their new points yet, for comparison?
  12. Don't mean this in a nit-picky way (as I think they're great) but why don't they just colour the sleepers a shade of brown by default, instead of black? Can't really cost much, surely?
  13. Glad you told me. Apparently Hornby cannot repair my chassis (under warranty) and when I suggested they could replace the chassis with one from R3266, they said couldn't do this........
  14. Wondered if anyone "in the know" would be able to tell me whether the body from R2577 (Class 60 Mainline) would fit on the chassis from R3266 (Class 60 "Quinag" coal sector)?
  15. Evening chaps. I literally just stumbled across the same photo (BPO67577) and came to post here, but you beat me to it. I'll try and see if I can find out with a BP logo, but I'm happy to at least have found one. Interestingly it doesn't look like the rest in the rake have the sector decal. UPDATE BPO67369 too.
  16. I'm modelling late 80s to early 90s, so if there is a grey TTA with petroleum decals it fits in my era.
  17. Did BP ever have any grey (not green) TTA wagons with the petroleum sector decal? I have found some with the BP logo on the left, but they don't have petroleum sector decals. What about unbranded grey BP TTAs? I'd like to model some grey BP TTAs with petroleum decals based on real wagons.
  18. Thanks for your reply. Are those rubber parts about 35mm x 8mm and white? If so, they remained in the packaging as I removed the loco. I can't see anything else on the underneath resembling what you describe.
  19. Recently bought Hornby R2577, Class 60 Mainline and just tested. Put on track, turn power up slowly, lights come on immediately (lights seem fine), can here the engine start up, just no movement. Try in other direction, same thing except lights reversed. As the speed is increased, the "growl" increases (I want to say engine, but obviously it's not moving). Aside from this having a DCC chip installed (it shouldn't, the original model doesn't seem to be DCC-fitted , was sold new and the packaging seemed it had never been opened, as claimed) is there anything else that could cause this?
  20. My apologies, you seem to know what you're on about! I can't wait for Bachmann to release that conical bitumen TTA!
  21. Think you have crude wrongly-categorised: Class A: Because they are light and highly liquid, these clear and volatile oils can spread quickly on impervious surfaces and on water. Their odor is strong, and they evaporate quickly, emitting volatiles. Usually flammable, these oils also penetrate porous surfaces, such as dirt and sand, and may remain in areas into which they seep. Humans, fish, and other plant and animal life face the danger of toxicity to Class A oils. Class B: Considered less toxic than Class A, these oils are generally non-sticky but feel waxy or oily. The warmer they get, the more likely Class B oils soak into surfaces; they can be hard to remove. When volatile components of Class B oils evaporate, the result can be a Class C or D residue. Class B includes medium to heavy oils. Class C: These heavy, tarry oils, which include residual fuel oils and medium to heavy crudes, are slow to seep into porous solids and are not highly toxic. However, Class C oils are difficult to flush away and can sink in water and can smother or drown wildlife. Class D: Non-fluid, thick oils are comparatively non-toxic and don’t seep into porous surfaces. Mostly black or dark brown, Class D oils tend to dissolve and cover surfaces when they get hot, which makes them hard to clean up. Heavy crude oils, such as the bitumen found in tar sands, fall into this class. https://www.thebalance.com/the-basics-of-crude-oil-classification-1182570 Bachmann's black Amoco and BP TEA wagons are for crude.
  22. Sorry, for some reason always calling it calib! Are those crude (black) TEA wagons? Would love to find more photos of Caib crude TEAs
  23. Came across this photo on flickr: https://www.flickr.com/photos/lickeybanker/11329740126/ and the description says: "with a train of 10 well weathered TEA tanks conveying heated fuel oil from Llandarcy Refinery." The first TEA looks like it has a Caib logo. I have never seen a Calib TEA. I wondered if anybody knows if these are on Paul Bartlett's website because I couldn't find them, or if there are other pics of said TEA?
