  1. Aberlour A'bunadh (about 60% proof), my favourite tipple!
  2. The low viewpoint is magical, really makes you feel like you're there. And filthy, rail blue, class 47's is what I remember. Brilliant! Thanks.
  3. Can I have fish, chips and a firkin? What's a firkin? A firkin big bag to put 'em in!
  4. It seems to me that mixed goods trains generally had more vans than opens. Obviously, mineral trains are all open, fish trains might be all vans, but general freight and even pick-up goods did seem to have a balance of more vans to opens.
  5. Typical of me to look during an update! Can I just reiterate others' thanks for compiling such an useful collection of drawings and pictures. I know relatively little about coaching stock, but what a fabulous place to start learning!
  6. Doh! Yes, that's what I was interested in! Is there a source of drawings for the Dean bogies of different lengths? Are they (bogies or side frames) available commercially? For information only. The drawings/pictures for C16, C22 and C79 are missing. There is a ? in their place.
  7. Is there any information on bogies? Wheelbase, wheel size, bogie type etc?
  8. Thanks for the information; all very interesting and definitely food for thought.
  9. I had started Simon, but hadn't reached an 0 gauge version by the time my eyes finally crossed!
  10. I'll have a search. I'm in the process of starting my first ever 0 gauge layout. I'm starting with next to nothing (sound-equipped Dapol 08, a DCC controller and not much else). I was going to make a basic shunting layout, but before I commit, I thought I'd look into a Minories-type layout. I'm looking at a fairly simple idea, that's achievable, but at the same time will be entertaining to operate.
  11. Just seeing what space they used up, if there were alterations to plan etc. I know how to scale up the drawing for 7mm scale but wondered if anyone had any experience of this plan.
  12. I've found umpteen version/variations of the Minories theme, mostly in 4mm scale (there's an especially nice Southern region based P4 version) and plenty in 'N'. But are there any 0 gauge versions? Links?
  13. I seem to remember Uxbridge Vine Street being in an issue of Great Western Railway Journal. Not sure which issue though. Found it: GWRJ Uxbridge Vine Street Stanley Jenkins, Chris Turner Issue 13 (1995) p.530 The history, development, traffic and operation of this branch Tags: drawings / diagrams, site plans, stations, stations, timetables / timetabling
  14. What you got and, more importantly, how much? Just come back from annual holiday, so skint really, but perhaps the wife will sub me!
  15. Aha! I think thats what I'm looking for, using the curved lever. Thanks.
  16. I'm assuming track generally laid late 60s/early 70s on the mainline, possibly repaired/relaid in late 70s. Sidings in a mixture of flat bottom and bullhead, possibly ex-GWR two-bolt chairs. It's how I remember the railways in my area in my youth (Wrexham in the 70s). So, Main line in 60' panels, sidings in a mixture of 44'6" GWR standard panels and filled with odds and ends, particularly in less used sidings. Any idea about sleeper spacing?
  17. Dave Hammersley of Roxey replied (thanks Dave) that they're cosmetic! Darn it!
  18. 1970's flat-bottomed rail, Pandrol type rail fixings, wooden sleepers. Anyone know how long 'standard' track panels were/are? Also, what was the sleeper spacing; did it close up near joints? How many sleepers per panel? Thanks.
  19. The Williams levers in 7mm are what I'm looking for I think. As long as they're working, not cosmetic! Have emailed them to enquire.
  20. South Wales Rich, but it's my first foray into 7mm so who makes what and how much is still largely a mystery. I know a fair bit about railways, particularly God's Wonderful, but less about modelling and even less about 7mm. I've bought a Dapol class 08 (green, to be repainted blue to match my late 70's/early 80's theme), sound (Paul Chetter's version) and hope to make a start on a small shunting layout soon. Or, I might leave the 08 in green and add a Minerva 57xx pannier! I'm the least decisive person on the planet!
