  1. That's it, go on......rub it in.......😒 Bear is more than happy to pay the going rate for properly skilled and experienced tradespersons; however when they're little more than cash-in-paw odd-jobbers who couldn't even spell College/Apprenticeship/Training etc. (let alone having received any) charging over the odds for basically straightforward tasks (many of which the householder can no longer do due to age and/or ill health) then I get the 'ump, especially when they do a mediocre job.
  2. Bear here..... Up at disgracefullylateo'clock (0720) today; it could've been 04-something but I fought my way kickin' & screaming back to snoozybearland again. The weather isn't great over Bear Towers, so further work on Harry isn't looking promising (some of us don't have a comfy Garage to work in - unlike others I could mention whilst fettlin' with their mo'sickles.....have I mentioned that?). It seems DPD are promising to bring Bear his 4L of Oil at midday, so that'll be a Tick. I sent a message to the accommodation I've booked in Lisbon a few days ago (last Friday) regarding options for luggage storage and still haven't had a response - notta good sign; it's a place rated with a 9/10 review score (from 190 reviews) - but all from external travel sites rather than Booking.com (presumably they are new to the site). Cautious Bear will give them until the end of the day and if still no response I may well bin 'em as I can cancel without loss - fortunately I haven't booked flights yet. Right, today I think I'll finally attempt to finish off the notes that'll accompany a (certified) copy of my Beary Will before handing over a pack to my Buddy over the road (he's an Executor) as well as keeping another pack at Bear Towers; hopefully the notes will assist those who may need to be assisted when I snuff it. BG edit: Jeez, it's 0845 - Bear had swum a Km by this time yesterday and was back home.....and I'm not even dressed yet. Disgraceful.
  3. Sadly those LMWDIFY often seem to think they're more highly qualified than a Brain Surgeon and want paying accordingly. That'll explain why, whilst Bear was at The Great Empire for 39 years I was fed on a constant diet of nothing but Bullsh1t from the grown-ups. The info came from the BBC - maybe the two things happened together? Perhaps they would've moved onto the second witness had the Juror not got a note from his mum?
  4. Bear recalls an interview with Ron Haslam: "Why did you crash?" Ron: "The girl in the red dress f****d off...." Apparently he'd been using her as his braking point marker.
  5. The company that does it normally appears at Exhibitions - not sure of their next one though, or what they're called. edit: They're called Modelu, based in Bristol; it seems they'll be at the NEC at the weekend, or Bristol in May. HTH Brian
  6. And in the very rare event that you do get caught....and you do get hauled up in front of The Beak.....utter that cast-iron fool-proof defence..... "iD told me to"
  7. At a time when the UK is desperately short of Docs. this F. nonsense is just plain Nutz: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c0x0zzey7lpo
  8. Bear here..... Back from the Hilly Wander and Tea all scoffed 😢. Whilst walking away from the P.O. earlier I spotted a couple of Traffic Wardens nickin' a bluddy great stretch Limo parked in what is known as "the Service Road" very close to the Co-op, despite it being marked with double yellows. Soooo many drivers take the p1ss by parking there (usually those driving expensive cars) whilst diving in the Co-op; basically they're all lazy 'sterds who can't be ar5sed to walk 100 yards (or often less) from a legal parking space As Bear walked past I uttered those immortal words "Well Done" to one of them; I think I caught them off guard by not hurling the usual abuse that they no doubt get every day. ION..... I see the Trial of The Orange One has finally kicked off.....only to be adjurned until tomorrow after just 30 minutes......cos' one of the Jurors had a Dental Appointment. Hope he had a note from his mum. BG.
  9. Bear here…. Unwanted strides returned to The Big River using their “easy returns” via the Post Office; sadly the software they give to the P.O. to scan Bear’s barcode on my phone is totally F. Useless - it must’ve taken him ten attempts, including a restart in the middle to get it to play ball. When I asked if this happens often he replied “All the time”. I got the feeling he would’ve liked to add a descriptive word in the middle of that sentence but there were ladies in the queue…. Now in the Pits during the Hilly Wander; the killer hill is next, followed by the Tess & Co dash then the long drag uphill to Bear Towers. BG
  10. Harry the Honda's (CB750FD) brakes have "been done" this morning - I'm rather pleased (and some) with the condition of the Pistons in the Brake Calipers (these are 40 years old); all three Calipers were in the same condition:
  11. Bear here.... Well that was a productive morning; Harry the Honda's brakes have "been done" - I'm rather pleased (and some) with the condition of the Pistons in the Brake Calipers (these are 40 years old): Definitely a Large Tick awarded. The next job was to sort that blocked drain 😡 - Bear's very best James Herriot techniques were called upon as I shoved my Paw down deep holes; the blockage was due to an abundance of the gritty stuff off the surface of the roof tiles that sat like sludge down the drain - I've a feeling there's still more down the pipe as well but I've done my best to clear as much as possible and also used a drain clearing gadget and a hose to shift as much as possible. After that I tipped four 25L buckets of water down the drain - the sudden whoosh of water helps to clear the cr@p out; it seems to drain away pretty well now but I've a sneaky feeling that it may be a PITA in the future - it was installed in 1995 as a part of the Conservatory build and this is the first time I've had trouble with it. After that it was din dins time - and Bear got all creative and cooked my favourite Pasta dish (all' Amatriciana); I suspect it wouldn't have earned an @iL Dottore Spoon Award - maybe a Teaspoon Award on a good day perhaps? It tasted pretty good to This Bear in any event. I'm just waiting for Bear's "scruffies", the swim stuff plus last week's Warehouse Strides & Polo Shirt to finish being washed before I go for a wander down the Post Office. Bear gone.
  12. Bit of chain and a padlock when no-one's looking.....
  13. Does this mean that SWMBO now has access to all your ER posts?
  14. Bear here..... Up at sillyo'clock (0430) for a piddle in the pool; the plan was to take the pair of unwanted strides to the post office on the way back to Bear Towers - until I realised I'd be 40 minutes too early. Poo. Next mission is to make the Bear Pit then do a bit of work on Harry the Honda - first task** is to take a look at the brake calipers and make sure all is well/grease the slidey bits. **Weather permitting - the Met. Website is saying there's only a 10% chance of rain all day, yet Alexa says different.....fortunately the brakes tend to be at the same place as the wheels - and that's the front & back of Harry; that means I can just uncover that bit of Harry and quickly re-cover if I need to. Time to wriggle..... Bear gone.
  15. @PupCam There's also this one if you fancy a bid: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/355652743423?epid=691148059&itmmeta=01HW2E218W953ZF45VRVVYRRAX&hash=item52ce8e30ff:g:IzwAAOSwJc9mJDOf&itmprp=enc%3AAQAJAAAA4CEPEFaUpGQtPSlsHWFxkDUim--Ze6mJ4k72bTi1mb2Pz1kZhtGNw4axkCxOWKYrDHUoFFMCNsaTEA%2Bs8SV47vexZALjIrkAaZW%2BMkQroA%2BKJBRNY9IJCL2x8KAqe4SeOphsE87Xt2FHvcglYWqYEwbOCwRNxdrYchZs4tlnhKD4CwGhWPhUXcCzM3%2FtY0Do2BJM2sWqKUV0Lot%2FRZsrLD5Y9M6yTjaQe1jFP5x3OFHzu37jFuF2UXhXBdO%2Bw6zBt3IsU8X09UQ34eQSQi0X0vS7Iumtc76j0oeSlcwpcGda|tkp%3ABk9SR8iUiM7gYw
  16. I'm sure Dr. Beverley can make you feel a lot better and put a big smile on your face......😉
  17. One reason may be to reduce the accuracy of any incoming GPS guided weapons Not this Bear, that's for sure.....
  18. I'll have you know that us Bears are much, much scarier than that - we're just better at hiding the bodies.....
  19. OK, so the Plod could possibly have handled it better, but in this Bear's Book the Guy was deliberately out to provoke a reaction/cause trouble. It's akin to someone wearing a Chelsea FC Shirt walking thru' a huge crowd of Millwall Supporters.....you just don't do it (not if you want to live, anyway) https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cd130lp70x5o
  20. So it's ok for someone to Contract the Woo Flu despite being married to & sharing a house with someone who's got a depressed immune system** ?? That's just plain F. Nutz **IIRC
  21. Bear here..... Harry the Honda is now all washed - that's a long morning I'll not be seeing again; I forgot just how long it takes to wash (even a clean to start with) Bike properly - and just how much I don't miss doing it...... Harry is now drying off in the (elusive) Sun, before I cover it up for beddybuys. I also discovered that Bear's outside drain that takes the rainwater off the rear roof elevations of two houses + two extensions is blocked 🤬 Rattin' Piggin' Turdycurses. That's a job for Bear sometime tomorrow. Poo. Bear gone.
  22. Try re-ordering it, but this time tick the "This is a Gift" tick box as they may just pack it properly (so as not to spoil the surprise). Might work - if it doesn't they can have it back again.....
  23. That's one Pig Ugly Mo'sickle...... Try this: managingdirector@amazon.co.uk
  24. Also the height would reduce during service due to the wheels being reprofiled due to wear and overhaul.
