  1. Seems a little unnecessary for eight casualties to need taking away from the scene by a waiting ambulance .......... how far did they have to be taken ?
  2. In the days when there were mill chimneys as far as the eye could see ..... through the smog.
  3. The word was grisley ....... you'll have to bear with him !
  4. We've all bought postcard photos at model shows with no identification on the back ........ if the copyright 'owners' have been stupid enough to allow them to be copied ( or are simply not bothered ) we can only offer them on attributed to "Wickham Green Collection" or whatever.
  5. Which suggests that they're NOT turned ................... ! ...........
  6. OK - but maybe Clive should've cut in a few bits of pseudo-teak Thompson coach !!?!
  7. ..... not forgetting Raspberry Ripple, Network SouthEast & Sealink .............................
  8. ..... and that footbridge on the M25 - or was it 26 ?
  9. 256) Is that an articulated twin or an optical illusion ? ........ some of Gresley's non-gangwayed artics ended up in Scotland and the bodies were flogged off to local farmers by Inverurie.
  10. The plating performed the same function of preventing the body racking under braking force ..... presumably this was a problem that manifested itself after a few years.
  11. ..... and the longest walk at the destination ................ same as having First Class at the London end of trains nowadays - it doesn't make a LOT of sense but it's neat and everybody knows their place !
  12. Could've given the bridge a lick of paint at the same time - but it looks like a nice substantial beam. Personally, I'd have put the beam off the bridge - maybe even at the first road junction - but I guess you'd need permission from too many other parties to do that.
  13. Careful with that word "underfame" ....... I think it's generally accepted as meaning solebars & headstocks downwards - but sometimes you see descriptions implying that the 'frame' members are painted body colour and "the underfame black", implying black below the solebars & headstocks ( literally, under the frame ).
  14. I'll stick with the model railway ............................ DEFINITELY cheaper to run ( and insure ) !
  15. Indeed .......... and until the Trade come up with a ready to run Wainwright 'J' - or rebuilt railmotor pull & push set p'raps - I guess we'll always have a few things to chivy them about. Don't know what happened there ..... I seem to have an echo ... echo .... echo .... echo ....
  16. Indeed .......... and until the Trade come up with a ready to run Wainwright 'J' - or rebuilt railmotor pull & push set p'raps - I guess we'll always have a few things to chivy them about.
  17. Any wagon arriving with a sheeted load and then being forwarded with a different category of goods that didn't need sheeting would naturally lose whatever sheet it arrived with : it wouldn't be folded neatly, placed carefully in a corner of the wagon and have ten (?) tons of sugar beet chucked on top !
  18. No doubt Yeadon's Register of such things would have full details ........................
  19. Back on - H Class - topic : looks like Hornby are doing 1552 in black with sunshine lettering sometime ................nowt else of interest to me in today's much heralded announcement ( the malachite 'Nelson' ain't my area I'm afraid ! ).
  20. From what we can see, it could be identical on t'other side !!?!
  21. Always thought it very odd that these were ( virtually ) overlooked as he gives reasonable details of the ( only ) other MkII multiple units : the NIR 'thumpers'.
  22. ......... doesn't seem to apply to cyclists tho'.
  23. Something of that ilk I think - but more likely on the LMR somewhere ..... MSJ&A p'raps ? - though it could easily stray across to t'other side of Piccadilly London Road.
  24. Anything coming up behind him would be at Caution ............ BUT.
