  1. Yes, the holed bits are for the couplings. The axle length is more likely to be 13mm. Our current standard axle length is 12.25mm as specified by Bill Blackburn in the late eighties and as used on all of our etched chassis since. Current sampler kit, which also includes a small length of Easitrac here: http://2mm.org.uk/products/nms/index.html
  2. Very nice. Not sure that Mini would be so pristine so many years later, though!
  3. I usually enjoy a cigar or two whilst modelling...
  4. Bring it anyway. Who cares about rules and stuff?
  5. Jerry found he had very little time for modelling these days...
  6. I would use as hard a wire as you feel comfortable with. Don't forget the linked article is using O Gauge variants of these couplers which are about the size of a small wagon... Soft wire will be more robust in the larger scales. I also note that he doesn't seem to bend back the lugs on his buffing plate. I'm sure that's in the instructions and I'd definitely always do it.
  7. I've measured the worm tonight and it actually seems to be a fraction under 3.4mm diameter being not a million miles from 3.58mm. If there are any kits that use the old Association 100DP spacing for this gearset, the new item should be a pretty good fit. Alan confirmed that when he made some for Nigel, he only had a tap for a larger diameter, but has since acquired a tap to suit our required spacing. He sent me an email quoting various BSW, UNC and TPI numbers but the gist of it is as stated. Hope that's cleared things up!
  8. Hi Nigel I'll measure it tonight, but I understand that Alan has made these to have the same centre spacing as our previous offering (which was made for us by, I believe, Ultrascale). In which case it ought to be 3.58mm. Where did you get the ones with 3.95mm worms?
  9. Back in Shop 3 are the following items: 3-691 Chassis for Ixion GWR Manor/Hall/Grange/Outhouse/Semi 3-368 Gearset 38:1 100DP. This is bored 1/8" on the gearwheel (so use the right muff!) and there is only one worm, bored 1.5mm. If you have a 1mm motor shaft, then the adaptor sleeve is available. We are working on the 30:1 gearset issue. Honest!
  10. You be careful with that new-fangled lerctricity, now...
  11. That's nice. Presumably it's hollow inside with support struts for the water?
  12. New in shop 3 ready for it reopening in mid-February: Products 3-266 to 3-269 are 3D printed mounts, designed to cradle mainly round motors of various diameter, but they may be adapted for use with others such as flat can motors that feature curved sides. The mounts also feature pins for use in conjunction with certain Masterclass chassis kits. If not required, these may be carefully removed.
  13. Pretty pleased with my first bash at 3D printing. Designed by me, but printed by Shapeways; I need to be pretty sure I can design this stuff before jumping in and buying kit. I got the holes for the buffers slightly wrong and the chassis is just a spare of the correct wheelbase but incorrect in brake detail etc. Hull & Barnsley Covered Goods Van:
  14. If a member were to produce some artwork, I'm sure we could look at stocking them. The product development team have a number of high priority projects at the moment so we can't rely on them to progress this right now. Volunteers stand in a line...
  15. Have a look at the picture that accompanies 2-330 on the product page. There is a guide on the edge of the etch that should give some indication of the shape.
  16. The new Point Rodding booklet is now available to members via Shop 1 and to non-members via the Association website - http://www.2mm.org.uk/products/nms/
  17. Interesting stuff. I've just sent a file off to have some H&BR covered vans printed by a proprietary printer. I used Blender for the artwork and was pretty impressed. If they come out anywhere near as good as those fish vans, I'll be well chuffed!
  18. Please note that Shop 3 will be closed for most all of January and February. If you're likely to need items from that shop, please get your order in before Christmas. Thanks!
  19. Jan I hope so. The Black 5 stuff was just lying around and needed sorting out. The 08 might involve a bit more work, but we'll try. Tony
  20. IMPORTANT INFORMATION Black 5 Kit Components Now Available Please visit the Association website for details of the relaunch of the Bob Jones designed Black 5 Kit. All of the constituent parts of the kit are now available as individual items. You decide what you will need for your build and place the order with Shop 3. This will hopefully spread the load on Steve having to do big batches of kit in one go. I have a list of interested parties from the previous Sales Officer, but I'm not sure how up to date this is! I hope to email people on this list soon, but don't waited to be invited; if you want a kit order it now. Thanks for looking. Tony
  21. Apart from the numbers you are correct Chris! 3-205 Coupling Rods: Farish Locomotives: Etched N/S, a bargain at £2.50. Not sure what will happen with 3-204 although we still have the stainless steel variant 3-203.
  22. These will appear on the shop listings, hopefully tonight! 3-219 Conversion Coupling Rods/Bogie etc: Farish Castle: Etched N/S £7.50 You will see, when the instruction go up, that the usual conversion bearings, muffs, wheels etc will be required to complement this etch. The moulded gear muff 3-222 is currently out of stock, but I have gear elves whittling away as we speak, so hopefully all the parts will be available soon. Watch this space! Tony Simms Sales Officer (Acting)
  23. Please all be looking at the 2mm website. A number of Masterclass Models wagon chassis are now While Stocks Last. These were in the limited edition range and will not be re-run. If you need some for your gloat box or, heaven forfend us, to actually build, well now is the time to get them. Some are nearly sold out and indeed I've already de-listed a couple of items. Don't leave it too late! http://2mm.org.uk
  24. Apologies for the delay, folks. These decals are now listed on the website and available for order. The UJ's should appear tonight along with a raft of loco (principally GWR, ugh!) chassis and NPCS (SR and BR) chassis as designed and produced by Masterclass Models. That ought to keep Mr Dunkeyson out of mischief for a while. Order away!
