  1. What I did was configure the feed from the 8116 to the MP1 so the point was in the physically default position (closed) on accessory bus engagement. It shows ‘thrown’ on the Digitrax controller I use - frustrating. Once Yamorc enable the option for points not to end up in the ‘thrown’ position as default, I’ll reconfigure accordingly. I use a Digitrax controller (as well as DTPro app on iPad), and on that display it shows closed or thrown for points. I wired each point motor in as per the supplied instructions, including frog power. Hope this makes sense…
  2. Hi, Apologies if you know the following already. The 8116 is basically a signal controller, that can also control non-servo point motors like the MTB series (I use MP1's). This is despite it showing that you can select points in the software used to configure the 8116. Because it's primarily a signal controller, if there is a reset of track/accessory bus power, the 8116 defaults to 'red' or 'thrown' in the case of the Digitrax controller I use. I have made Karst of Yamorc aware of this, and it will be the subject of a future firmware fix. My temp workaround is to wire my point motors up accordingly so they default to where I want them to, in the case of a short or when engaging track/accessory power. FWIW I prefer the 8116 to the DJ 4018, as you can update it's firmware and options much more easily. If i have any 4018's fail (i have about 4 of them), I will replace with the 8116. Regards, Andy.
  3. I just found this out with Revolution Trains tank wagons. Too droopy, and catch point bits. My Dapol wagons fare better. Still experimenting with 2mm magnets v the Dapol ones - which aren’t cheap.
  4. I like the cocktail stick mounting of figures for painting. I’ll be using this method when I get round to any figures I’ll need to paint.
  5. I’m not really sure why we are splitting hairs over redesign and evolution, tbh. If the original designer has changed hardware and software to increase marketability of the new product, so be it. Comparing a DJ 4018 to a Yamorc 8116 is a case in point. The latter has better screw terminals, and the software interface means you can update it directly via usb. You cannot do this with a 4018. In relation to the 7401 conversion I can confirm the Yamorc update has sorted the disconnect issue between that and DigiTrainsPro. Nice. Another slight glitch identified tho is when you have the Yamorc 7001 app open on the laptop(running windows 11, Yamorc software build 59), as well as DTPro open on my ipad and connected to the 7001, the programming track doesn’t behave. IE it will only intermittently read a loco/decoder, and won’t write to a decoder at all. This is cured by closing DTPro. The Yamorc app then functions as intended regarding the programming track reading and writing. This isn’t a deal breaker for me, as most of my loco’s are programmed, and if I need to tinker with any CV’s I’ll do so via the Yamorc app. DTPro otherwise seems to be functioning fine. Now I can get it working properly, I’m going to program my points etc.
  6. DCC Train Automation are on it with supply and demand. They seem to b v honest regarding these aspects, and I’ve only had to wait a short while for 8116’s, for example. The 8116 is better built that the 4018 - especially the screw terminals. They just need to sort the firmware out re point control (I use MTB MP1’s) so you can leave the point as previously selected, rather than it deferring to ‘thrown’ or ‘red’. I’ve converted my DR5000 to the 9401/7001. That cured a number of glitches. The Wi-Fi use/issue with DigiTrainsPro May also be cured - I need to soak test that this afternoon. Yamorc seem very prompt and personable with their communications, too.
  7. I’ve just installed the software build 59 for my 9401/7001, and updated the firmware. The device now talks to DigiTrainsPro and doesn’t seem to be disconnecting as it was previously. I’ll soak test that this afternoon. Upgrading sorted out an issue with my DR5000 in that locos would just go into reverse for no reason. I’m waiting patiently for the 8116 firmware upgrade whereby if you select points, then the points stay where you last had them set, rather that reverting to ‘thrown’ (or Red).
  8. More diesel shed progress. A few snags to sort, and a few more bits to add… Nearly finished, tho.
  9. I follow this layout with interest. Lots of reasons, but none obvious. I empathise with the mojo issue. I get round it by just tackling what I fancy tackling, and when. I have to be careful, as I have two other hobbies that take up time away from my wife (piano and golf), so it’s important to manage time fairly.
  10. Finest Newcastle sand as a base for the steam shed ballasting. Obviously, the colour will be changed.
  11. Today was brush painting a few bits, and looking at signalling. Specifically the signalling around the sidings. My good friend is sending me some reading next week on the subject of signalling, but I’ll need to work out routes in and out of the yard, and to what extent I need semaphore and ground signals. I’ll be using a mixture of Dapol motorised semaphore signals, but I’ll also need some gantry ones. Ground signals are a different topic. I need to find decent looking ones. I’m not sure about the PD Marsh ones. The research continues. blue rectangles indicate semaphores. The white squares indicate initial thoughts on where ground disc signals will go. Nothing set in stone yet.
  12. These images show the Redutex corrugated tin, backed onto 0.25mm plasticard. Total depth is 0.74mm. The supplied card roof is 0.71mm. This means I can now add the roof frames, and the relief etc will be right. I now need to paint the inside and edges of the roof. I also need a more permanent solution to the temporary set up I have to create in my garage for any air brushing that can be done not in the railway room. The solution is a bench in the garage. Once my op recovery is more sorted, the bench in the garage will be sorted.
  13. Here you go. Need to do some cosmetics, but the walkways either end are sorted. Just waiting for some more materials, to then sort the corrugated elements of the shed.
  14. Post op recovery, so 1st time back in the railway room today. I’ve been musing over whether the supplied Railway Laser Lines diesel shed corrugated tin is fine enough, so had a tinker with the Redutex equivalent(someone whispered this option in my ear😉) It looks more authentic and less ‘bulky’, don’t you think?
  15. Hi, Thanks for your suggestion. I'll take a look at some of the photo's I'm using for this shed, and put a walkway in accordingly. The two inspection pits were fitted for another shed that was longer, so I will need to fill some of the pits in anyway, rather than rip the track up. Once the 'concrete' centre is extened between the rails and painted accordingly, no-one will know 😉
  16. Further diesel shed progress. It’s probably 1/3rd of the way there. The detail is very nice. This shed will have only been ‘open’ a week or so. I’m modelling it as v new, so the steam shed not far away will look very rough in comparison.
  17. You are comparing your standards against others. Fair enough. As a buyer I do the same - leave feedback. As a seller I wait for feedback. If I don’t get any feedback, then I don’t leave any. Hence I was agreeing with the point raised, quoting accordingly. cheers, Andy.
  18. I’m doing the new Railway Laser Lines shed in N gauge, and came across this thread in a search. I just wanted to thank the contributors for posting colour photos, which help very much in selecting colours. My shed will look ‘brand new’, to offset a grubby 4 lane steam shed at the end of its life a little further on the same board. Thanks again, Andy
  19. I would. Makes sense as they are the UK distributor, and you'd want to fit this in line with not jeopardising the warranty? I've been caught out once buying an MP1 from a diff model shop. Bought 8 as a deal. One was faulty. The shop in question asked me to get in touch directly with James. I didn't think this very good customer service, but did so anyway. James sorted it, and I've purchased nothing more from the 'offending' model shop. I'd also add that John G at Digitrains Lincoln is very helpful. They sell MP1's as well (supplied via DCC Train Automation).
  20. Have you rang James from DCC Train Automation? He is the UK distributor, and has been very helpful with me regarding using the mP1's - all be it DCC.
  21. Rather than trust the colour blobs on the tops of the tins, I had a spare hour and created a colour palette to work out the shades for different bits of the diesel shed. There will be a little shade altering of some of the paints to create some contrasts, but I’ve a fair idea now which paint will g where. The steel colour for the ‘steel’ supports might need matting down a bit, but I’ll apply a coat and see how it comes out.
  22. Been doing all sorts since my last post. Of significance I roped Duncan into helping me measure the station at Mansfield. This so he can CAD it up for me to scratch build, when time allows. Ive jumped in at the deep end with the airbrush. The items in the image are the platforms, and also the Railway Laser Lines diesel shed. This shed will look very new, as on my layout the area it will live will look as if it’s just been completed - compared to the steam shed, which hopefully will look very grotty. I’ve learned the hard way, twice, that the paint colour on the tin might not be the ‘actual’ colour it turns out to be, for various reasons. Oh well…
