  1. Lovely job Mark. I have early/late crest examples and feel they represent terrific value for money, run well and will pull a good load. I may titivate them in a similar manner to you, but for now I am happy with them. I hope the (round spectacle?) J26 appears, although with Hornby now in control at Oxford, I fear this well detailed and innovative budget brand will be subsumed. Shame, as their N7 is also a delight as is their goods stock.

    Cheers from Oz,

  2. Hi Barry,

34102 would definitely  be a better fit for your loco./tender combination. This useful table:

     https://www.bulleidsociety.org/OVS_Bulleid/OVSB_Light_Pacifics.html

gives a mass of detail on the Bulleid pacifics. From this 103 received it's cut-down tender in 10/58 whereas 102 received cut-down in 7/61.

One other point to be aware of is the position of the W/C class scroll. On those locos not intended for a shield it is placed higher up the casing. See this pic. from Colour-Rail:

    Hope this helps,

    Cheers from Oz,

  3.  The other thing to remember is the wear and tear that the environment puts on the wagon surfaces. White paint pre-war was not TiO2 stabilized, and faded badly with light and wear. Get a fibreglass brush and 'fade' parts of the lettering gently. I have posted in 'modifying rtr' section last year to show this technique.

    Peter C.

  4. James, your efforts are amazing, but might I add a plea that you invest a few pounds in a decent set of lining transfers from Fox, Modelmaster or similar?   White/black lining is not difficult to find or apply by waterslide, and I think it will lift your models into a different class, rather than the ballpoint/whitepaper method.

You put so much time and ingenuity into your conversions, they are worth more than the 'ha'porth of tar'!

    cheers from Oz,

    Peter C.

  5. The tank wagon does look like the peco **74/* Wonderful Wagon, probably the BP or ESSO one, nice kit of a type of tank variant not yet available rtr?? The 3-plank looks like a Parkside LMS/BR fitted medfit, and is numbered as such, rtr by Mainline originally, now Bachmann.

    T'others, I haven't a clue!

    Cheers, Peter C.
