  1. I stick my build plate on my fdm printers build plate and warm it up that way! If you have an fdm printer it is a quick way of heating up the build plate as I find they get too cold in the winter months, and as mentioned can have a cooling effect on the resin when submerged into the resin! I need to look into heating as its pain not being able to print consistently over the winter months! Njee20 you heat the vat as well with a heat gun, im wondering if I can whack that on the creality ender 5plus build plate as well to heat it up, though I think the anycubic vats aren't metallic, and may not hold the heat as well!
  2. I think you could be right Steve, I need to look into how to achieve that finish, as It could easily go horribly wrong mate ;)
  3. Managed to make a bit more progress on the only ever N7 to carry the Great Eastern blue livery, number 1001 in 7mm! Not quite finished as I still have to fix the cab roof as I'm leaving it loose until I decide whether or not to put a crew in the cab or not! I still have to order some real coal for the bunker at the back, and I need to touch up the lining in places, as well attempt to line the wheels! I also need to add some 3 link couplings to the loco and some subtle weathering to tone down some of the bright metals a bit! I'm wondering whether to be brave enough and have ago at weathering this loco, any thoughts?
  4. thank you Andy, she will yes indeedie :)
  5. Update n the N7/L77 in GER blue, lining almost finished, I have the boiler bands to finish off, and front end of the tanks to finish off, and steps not shown here. I will then varnish up to seal in the lining, and start to assemble the multitude of detail parts on this baby! Crazy amounts of small components to add, just some of which I have placed for the quick photo update, so not glued in place yet!
  6. Is that his formal name Bill the Bish! ;) It is a fantastic looking bit of architecture well done sir for saving it!
  7. Now for something completely different, and super enjoyable to back to do some architecture again, something I have always loved working on! So we are starting work on Smithfields station, and this first piece will be one of a set of components that will all fit together to create a station at the end of our terminus station on Smithfield! Inspired by the architecture of Denmark Hill station, and Battersea Park Station! Also a massive thank you to Bill Bishop who kindly suggested Denmark Hill, and grabbed a whole heap of photos so for us to model from so thanks Bill, I will post some progress as I go along!
  8. I couldn't resist taking a pic of this almost finished LBSC full brake on the club layout last night. I just have the other side to finish the transfers, and perhaps some subtle weathering to tone it down a bit, but will do that the entire rake!
  9. Knocked up a GER E22/J65 as I have a spare Dapol terrier chassis it will fit on, these would have often ran with the front Con rods removed essentially making it a 2-4-0 bizzarely! some fantastic shots of them running in East London, found this image on the google so its not mine! Hoping to kick off an LBSC I2 over the chrimbo period along with working up the station model for Smithfields!
  10. Tidying up the Type 5s James Holden 6 wheel carriages for a reprint next spring, I have added this 34ft 6inch First Diagram 105 to the rake that will be joining the rest of the rake! I have decreased some of the depths of the panelling as i felt them to be a bit too deep, and amended and improved some of the detailing on these coaches in terms of the hand rails, and made the detailing on the solebars finer! All to be reprinted in spring to run behind the N7 all being well.
  11. @thegreenhowards requested we needed another GNR brakevan for Smithfields, so I have modelled up this GNR 6 wheel Brake van for a bit of variation and interest and to accompany the GNR 8 wheel brake van
  12. D1 sounds good I have the drawings, I will get on it! I do fancy doing an I3 though, and trying out a 3d printed chassis to see if I can get it to work? Especially as the I3 only has a couple of con rods so shouldn’t be as tricky to get working! The front bogie might need some thought tho!
  13. Thank you kindly sir! I may just do that, as I’m probably going to have to pack my printers away next year due to a house move at some point!
  14. I do fancy doing a J15 indeedie good choice it’s definitely on my list! I’m thinking a J65 also as it’s quite different from a j69! Plus they had a few in London at Fenchchurch apparently!
  15. Hahaha thanks Schooner I do love the Drummond S14, that is a cracking loco! Very different! And quite possibly easy to sit on an existing chassis potentially! We currently have a very limited range of LBSC loco's for the exhibition (smithfield) layout so im thinking either a D1 or and E3/4 but ideally I would love to build a I3
  16. Thanks Andy yes indeedy, what shall I model next, A Brighton loco?
  17. I figure now the weather is colder the printing is a bit trickier I will spend the colder months working up some new 3D models to print out next year! So next up is this GER M15/F5 in 7mm. Once I still hope to have the N7 finished soon!
  18. A sunday painting up this little 3d printed hut for Smithfield
  19. Sadly I can't make the club tonight that thing called work, but hoping to next week :)
  20. Now the Billinton’s are almost finished bar 3 coaches which are sitting on my bench i’ve turned my attention back to the GER N7/L77 that im hoping to finish before christmas all being well! So thanks to @thegreenhowards help on cutting away some of the extra bulk on the Dapol Jinty chassis I have the 3d printed body sitting reasonably well on top! I have also blocked in the trailing wheel at the back, once this has been tested and hopefully she will run. I will start to paint her up! Although I couldn’t resist starting the painting in the interior cab detail, for some reason this is one of my favourite jobs! More to do inside, but she is slowly taking shape. I have a pot full of details for this loco, she certainly packs a huge amount of external detailing, which will be fun to add once painted.
  21. Final pictures of the Billinton's tonight on the Club exhibition layout in front of our resin cast walls! I have a couple more coaches to finish off D46 full brake, and D72 Tri Comp, along with another D74 Third class coach to finish the rake off. After which I will be turning my attention to the GER L77/N7 to get that finished D75 Brake Third D74 Third class D70 First Class D71 Lav Comp PRV
  22. Great day at the club today we got to test the layout in full at a local hall, that Peter and Andy kindly sorted out, and check how the stock runs, and fit in a cheeky bit of scenery work as well! We still have a great deal to do before we exhibit, but it was a very encouraging day to see the progress we have all been making on the layout together, along with getting the chance to run the LBSC Billinton's finally! Seen below being pulled by Peter's cracking littler Dapol Terrier
  23. Had a fantastic day today getting to run some stock on Smithfield notably giving some the Billinton's a run out behind Peter's terrier... all we need now is an I3 ;)
  24. This is already looking fantastic, can't wait to see the progress :) PS. I wish i could take credit for the Teaking effect but the process was pioneered by the very talented @MikeTrice who has some great tutorials and stunning models show casing his teaking genius :)
