  1. More wagon modelling, trying to bash out as many as I can before march when I hope to get back into printing off some of this stock! MR 14FT Van and MR single Bolster
  2. I checked out Cult3d and i think it again a real mismatch of quality with not a huge lot to choose from, I wonder if the reason why there isn't much in terms of STL's or even Model railway stuff to buy already printed is because there isn't quite yet the market for the model railway industry in the UK? Miniatures on the other hand are supremely popular and are very well catered for. As you say perhaps a dedicated site for selling model railways stl's might be a cracking idea. Not necessarily just British model railways but worldwide could be a very good idea! One that would allow external printing partners to license stl's to print and sell to those who don't have the 3d printing facilities but would still want to get a print of any of the items offered on the site.
  3. More Wagon Shenanigans, this time adding a bit more variety to my 7mm collection for spring time printing What pre-grouping wagon collection wouldn't be without an MR 299 wagon, these bad boys where all over the place so I figured I best knock one up for printing! Finally an LTSR Fish van to add to my growing fish train collection with the GCR and LYR vans
  4. I agree with both Jim and Njee if it ain't broke... don't fix it! I have only had to update the bios on one of printers, and that was an fdm printer and I had upgraded the extruder to use different materials which is why i had to do it.
  5. This is a good question, because right now the model railway world is pretty under represented when it comes to buying Stl’s for 3d printing! I am personally toying with the idea of uploading all my stl’s so folks can purchase at very reasonably low prices! But am unsure which site to upload to as most sites seem to cater for wargaming and miniatures as opposed to model railways sadly!
  6. Whilst the weather is still pretty cold im avoiding spending anytime down in the studio and cracking on with some more wagons for printing in spring Here I have a couple L&YR Wagons another Fish Truck to go with my GCR fish van, a very unusual but fantastic looking vehicle. Followed up with a simpler 3plank Loco Sand wagon.
  7. Sorry Stevel for my slow response at getting back its been a hectic few days These aren't drawn in blender im using 3dsmax and Z brush to make these meshes, I do think Blender is very good though! I only use 3dsmax and Zbrush because I have used them for many many years so know them fairly well to produce models in! If I was getting into 3d modelling today I would definitely use Blender, im thinking about having a go myself when i get some spare time!!!! Spare time what is that then ;) Cheers Rob
  8. In the meantime I have been finishing some work off on a French WW2 barn for the bolt action project! Marmion Farm as used in Band of Brothers I believe along with a picture back in 1944 and as is today. Note these photos are purely for reference only As in 1944
  9. Ahh volume one yes indeedie its the LNER Southern Area yes I have that and if you are referring to the Glass wagon on p149 yeah its very nice, and different have been thinking of trying some different types of wagons so will have a go sir :)
  10. Hello Richard, i thought volumes 4 where just LNER built wagons and didn’t include any pre grouping wagons am I wrong? If so i may need to get a vol 4 :)
  11. Whilst the weather is still too cold for printing in the studio increasing my GCR stock with this lovely little 3plk drop side open wagon!
  12. What vehicles are you looking for in particular?
  13. Hello Eastern, so i get most of my drawings from books I have collected the past few years, the drawing for this wagon particularly was in Peter Tatlow's Volume one southern area of the LNER book, a great series of volumes that are good for giving you the dimensions and overall shape of the vehicle. I then do a ref search online to try and find as many good photo's for reference for the details which can often be a mind field often with all the differing variations that some wagons have undergone throughout their working lives. So picking the variant closest to your era of interest is always best! I hope to have a bunch more GCR wagons knocked up over the winter along with some L&Y ones for variation on the layout! Cheers Rob
  14. Now the weather is super cold and printing is hit an miss in the print studio im concentrating on modeling a bunch of stuff to start printing come the better weather in march, so another GCR wagon this time the lovely 6 wheel brake in 7mm
  15. Having a go at drawing up some Transfers for the GER wagon stock I have been building and hoping to get these made into waterslide transfers. Surprisingly fun and easy to do, I just downloaded Inkscape for free online, super intuitive if you have ever used any of Adobe's software such as photoshop and illustrator, and I was able to quickly trace this lot from photographs in a couple of hours! I haven't yet sized everything correctly, but will do, but wondered if I had glaringly missed anything I should probably incorporate with these decals for GER?
  16. Update on the diorama background to display some of the 7mm models I am making on for fun! Adding in a raised signal box to give a bit of interest to the scene, and sit over the track nearest the retaining walls! Any other suggestions to what might look good most welcome as i'm still planning this out before printing it and assembling! Cheers
  17. My word you have a cracking memory sir! Actually this is just the renders will be firing up the ender 5 plus for these babies had some cracking results now i have worked out best way to use it, will be posting soon i hope, just blocking out the scene
  18. Thought I would build a diorama background to display some of my 7mm models, I like the idea of some impressively deep brick cutting walls, like those found in East London. Not especially prototypical more of a mix of brick styles from East London and Crystal Palace to get that Victorian feel. I plan to print 4 or 5 of these wall sections, and add an overhead or raised signal box for fun with a couple of tracks running in front. Coach is just for scale
  19. Yes good question Richard hopefully so need to chase Din up about that see where he is at, I think I have about a hundred wagons modelled now!
  20. Thanks Richard, I will try and print one up soon to show
  21. More Great Central van-ness! GCR Fish Van
  22. That looks cracking chap, nice work!
  23. Thought I would challenge myself to a bit of speed modelling to kick 2023 off and knocked up this GCR 27ft Van ready to put through the slicer next and print up to join my slowly growing rake of Pre grouping 7mm wagons. Modelling time around 3 an half hours in 3ds max, not including the wheels which are just for illustration purposes only!
  24. I also realised I never got round to posting some finished pictures of my set of 7mm GER 4 wheelers I finished up earlier in the year, although I still need to sort the coupling situation on these little coaches, but they are some of my favourite designs, quite charming little coaches! Though I can imagine they weren't much fun to travel in being quite a hard ride in reality. First class, third class, and third brake below, and once again massive thanks to the talented Mr Ian MacCormac for providing the transfers which really bring these coaches together thanks Ian.
  25. Thanks for posting Andy, I thoroughly enjoyed seeing these run at the SEGOG and what a cracking bunch of folks they all are, inspired and looking forward to getting some new stuff printed and built ready to run for the next time thank you!
