Yet more random foreign photos.....
sncf231e replied to Johann Marsbar's topic in Overseas Prototype
The picture is at the end of line 9 which was in Diemen at that time. The Ajaxlus was indeed already gone; from 1998 - 2002 a complete new neighboorhood was built were the former Ajax stadium was located: Esplanade de Meer. Further: line 9 isn't there any more. A few years ago the route was changed and the tram line was renumbered to 19 and does not go to the Central Station anymore. Regards Fred (born in the shadow of stadium De Meer) -
For my birthday I received a tinplate Märklin gantry crane (00/H0). I already have some (tinplate) railway cranes with and without wheels so I made a video showing these. Regards Fred

ACE trains are devoid of brake gear (Allen Levy does not like it), but I wonder whether most coarse scale models are devoid of it (I did not make a count). Most US coarse scale models, and these are made in large quantities, do have it. Regards Fred

Hornby Acho is mentioned in my e-book and, as Chris H also mentions, as far as I know these were made in France. I wonder whether Hornby at that time could have made something nice like this 😉 Regards Fred

When the train is full I just sit on the rear coupler. Regards Fred -
Here is a video I made showing two versions, with very diffferent interior, of the same CIWL car made in o gauge by Elettren: A Côte d'Azur Pullman car and a Salon Car used in the Blue Train between Paris and the South. Three Côte d’Azur WP cars with numbers 4160, 4162 and 4164 were transformed in all blue Voiture Bar Salon for the Train Bleu. Regards Fred

With all the attention to detail, sound and prototypical operation, using also DCC, it might seem that were are getting into accurate model railwaying. However, untill we are going to use radii of some 20 feet, we are still playing toys. Regards Fred

American Flyer made the NYC Hudson also in other gauges. Here are three American Flyer Hudsons with matching trains in three different gauges (H0, S and 0) running together. Regards Fred

My Hornby R845 from the seventies has chuff-chuff sound (from the tender). It is mechanical. Regards Fred

Kitmaster -is this possible, or just a daft idea?
sncf231e replied to detheridge's topic in Collectable/Vintage
I wonder: Was the Monogram (later Revell) NYC Hudson kit based on any Kitmaster tooling? Regards Fred -

We need the dislike button back for posts like this. Ill informed, inaccurate and slightly bigoted for good measure. Please do not try to explain: The smallest item you can model is the same in any scale. Regards Fred

In the late thirties American Flyer made, like Lionel, an 0 gauge New York Central Hudson. They did however not use NYC markings and also changed the wheel arangement to 2-6-4. Their later S gauge and H0 gauge Hudsons were (a bit) better. I acquired an 0 gauge version this week and had a run in the garden: Regards Fred

I think you reaction was for Howard. Being Dutch I do not need Google translate to translate German. Gruss Fred

The Type 1 Pacific was the heaviest European Pacific. A gauge 0 model was made by CAM (https://www.binnsroad.co.uk/railways/cam/index.html) in the forties and based on that design and leftover parts a small series was made by Verelst in Turnhout. Here you see it with the realistic short Ostende-Cologne Pullman Express which it pulled but was of course much to large and heavy for. Regards Fred
